I'll be honest with you guys...i will be happy if OSU somehow lucks out n becomes #2 if OK beats tonights winner next week... But i really don't want them to be #2 anymore...i just want us to go to the rose bowl dammit...it just feels wrong to go to the national title game at this point....and i'm man nuf to admit OSU doesn't deserve to go to the title game this year....there i said it ... With that being said i will cheer for my team no matter where they end up! GO BUCKS! PS- GO oklahoma too

Why? Because we won 11 games this year? Because we're the big ten champs? Because every team ahead of us couldn't finish the job?
If we make it we deserve to be there... All WVU, Kansas, and Mizzu have to do is win out and they're in... If they don't we're in...
We're not back dooring anything... we won every game on our schedule except one. With the way the system is we deserve to be in just as much as anyone.
Hopefully a few more years of this and the people who matter will realize we need a playoff system or at least an and-1.

The way I see it, if OSU doesn't deserve to go to the NC game because of their loss to Illinois....then no other team can go because EVERYONE has a "loss to Illinois" (Well, except Hawaii). It seems like everyone got beat by an unranked team while sitting at #1 & #2.
I think OSU has a fighting chance at the NC game yet.

Wish I got home from shopping earlier, now that the game is on, my wife is going to want to put up the tree after I pick up the pizza. And she's going to watch White Christmas, which means no football. Ah well......I'll be flipping over.

This is how I like to think I feel too,...but West Virginia's loss was to -- at the time --a very highly rated South Florida, who ended up # 2 after that week.
Right now, it looks like WVa and Mizzy,...I really, really doubt that Ohio State is gonna get the help it needs from Oklahoma,...I was counting on UConn.
Finally, there IS ONE very, very small chance that Pitt rises to the occasion and puts some other 2 loss team, or perhaps Kansas back "in it."
What a wacky year,....the season you have handed to you on a golden platter and you lose to an Illinois. Shameful.

I always felt OU had a better chance of winning vs tonight's winner than WVU had of losing... OU is a top 5 caliber team that took a game off against Colorado and then lost to an inspired Tech team IMO... I think with Stoops as their coach they will be ready come Big 12 champ time... I still think they are the favorite in most people's mind.... remember that Mizzou's one loss is to OU... of course can OU pull off the win again if Mizzou wins tonight? It's always tougher to beat a team for the second time.

They just said on TV that the only reason OU beat Mizz regular season was the Tigers turned the ball over two times in the 4th quarter,...
I'm not holding my breath,...
Funny ironic isn't it,...I really hate cats (as a pet), but need either the Tigers to lose, or the Panthers to win now,....

Warriors are WAC champions, 39-27 By Stephen Tsai HawaiiWarriorBeat.Com Editor At last. A chase that spanned decades came to a chicken-skin end tonight when the Hawai'i football team claimed its first outright Western Athletic Conference championship. It ended in a mosh pit of celebration after the Warriors conquered arch-rival Boise State, 39-27, before a national television audience and a sellout Aloha Stadium crowd that screamed "B-C-S" into to the full-moon night. It ended with the Warriors gathering in the locker room in a group prayer, then, in unison, yelling: "WAC champs!" Both teams entered with 7-0 WAC records, but it was the Broncos who stepped onto the FieldTurf wearing the crown. The Broncos had won the past five WAC titles, winning 46 of 47 league games during that span. They had won the previous six meetings against the Warriors. "We believed," UH quarterback Colt Brennan said. "That was our motto." It was strengthened during a chapel service yesterday morning when the pastor gave a sermon on David and Goliath. "If you believe, giants will fall," UH defensive tackle Michael Lafaele said. "Giants do fall." But they do not fall easily, and the feisty Broncos — aided by two blocks of UH point-after kicks — seized a 27-26 lead on Kyle Brotzman's 36-yard field with 6:52 remaining in the third quarter. But the Warriors quickly responded, driving 70 yards in 10 plays, to go ahead, 32-27, on a 7-yard pass from Brennan to Jason Rivers. Later, the Warriors made it 39-27 when C.J. Hawthorne made an over-the-shoulder-pads catch of a Brennan pass for a 38-yard touchdown play. After that, the Warriors' defense took charge. The Broncos rely on a shifts and motions to keep opponents on the heels of their cleats. But clear away the smoke, and their fire comes from a power running game and play-action passes. "Take away the run," Lafaele said, "and you stop them." And that's what the Warriors did, with the ends bracketing the Broncos' offense, and linebackers Blaze Soares and Timo Paepule filling the gaps. The Broncos were held to a season-low 101 rushing yards, with only 32 in the second half. Running back Ian Johnson rushed for 86 yards and two touchdowns, but had only six yards after the intermission. With the running game contained, the Broncos' play-action passes had less deception. After a nervous start, Brennan found his groove, completing 40 of 53 passes for 495 yards and five touchdowns. In the process, he broke Ty Detmer's NCAA record for career touchdown passes. Brennan now has 126. Davone Bess caught a school-record 15 passes, giving him 27 receptions in the past two games. Rivers added 11 catches for 113 yards. The Warriors' four starting receivers — Bess, Rivers, Hawthorne and Ryan Grice-Mullins — each had a scoring catch. With Brennan at the controls, the Warriors controlled the clock in the fourth quarter. After Boise State's Taylor Tharp was sacked with 6:26 to play, the Warriors would not relinquish the ball. When the Warriors gained a first down inside the Broncos' 1 with 35 seconds left, the countdown to the UH's 11th victory in as many games began. The Broncos, without a timeout, could not stop the impending celebration in which fans stormed the field. A makeshift stage was set up, and WAC commissioner Karl Benson, fighting through the crowd, presented the trophy to the dancing Warriors. "It was a great night," whispered head coach June Jones, who won his first outright championship as a coach. Brennan threw two scoring passes and ran a yard for a touchdown to stake the Warriors to a 19-17 lead at the half. Brennan became the NCAA leader in career touchdown passes with his 6-yard throw to Grice-Mullins with 3:53 left in the first quarter. That tied the score at 7. The Broncos, whose opening 13-play drive was halted by an interception by safety Jacob Patek, were more efficient on their second possession. Marty Tadman's 34-yard punt return set up the Broncos at the 50. Johnson then took a handoff, broke two tackles in a run up the middle. He then broke right and outraced a defensive back to complete the 50-yard scoring play, giving Boise State a 7-0 lead. The Warriors took a 14-7 lead on Brennan's 1-yard run. The score was set up by right wideout Hawthorne's 23-yard gain off an inside screen. It appeared Hawthorne had stretched the ball across the plane of the goal line, but the replay official ruled that he was down at the 1. The point-after kick was blocked — the Broncos' 10th block this season. In last year's meeting between the teams, the Broncos blocked two PATs. The Broncos went ahead on Johnson's second touchdown run, this time from a yard. But the Warriors regained the lead on a 23-yard pass from Brennan to slotback Bess, who caught the pass at the 6, and eluded a defender before stumbling into the end zone. But the Broncos again blocked the PAT. Boise State then closed to 19-17 on Kyle Brotzman's 39-yard field goal. The Broncos missed a chance to take the lead when Brotzman's field-goal attempt from 49 yards fell short with 13 seconds left in the half. Brennan completed 20 of 27 first-half passes for 241 yards. Oregon lost to UCLA, .... this means the Bruins still have a shot at the PAC-10, and Ohio State could be playing a 7-5 opponent in the Rose Bowl.

Why do some people want ohio state to play usc in the rose bowl over playing in the national championship. Am I interpreting this wrong?

some people don't think ohio state deserves to be in the championship game, i think that most years, a team like ohio state, who lost late in the year to an unranked team, probably wouldn't deserve it, but honestly, who's been great this year? and with kansas now falling, all the legitimate teams (sorry hawaii) have a blemish...
so i disagree, i think if ohio state makes the national championship, they deserve it
there are also some that just want to see ohio state in the rose bowl, because that's what it used to be, that's where you wanted to go, before the bcs it was your goal to get to the rose bowl... when the bcs came into play, theo rose bowl was important once every 4 years, and now, with the addition of the seperate bcs championship bowl, the rose bowl is never your ultimate goal...
but ohio state/usc in the rose bowl is what it used to be for a while... i wouldn't mind seeing it at all, but i'm like most, i want to see a national championship
as far as ohio state playing usc, that would be a great game, and for those that don't think ohio state can hang, i think they'll be just find, only because juice williams, or tim tebow, or some other mobile quarterback won't be playing, ohio state can defend the traditional pro style offense like no other...

cuz...would u rather WVU runs all over OSU in a national title game or we beat a pac 10 team at the rose bowl? WVU i think would be a nightmare...unless our O goes out and scores on first 4 or so drives and makes it 28 to 7 or something we would not have a chance in the game....they would control the ball and our O would never be on the field nuf to get anything going....

Don't exactly know what you're interpreting,...
There are those who feel the Rose Bowl is " OK, " I am not one of them. Regardless of who the opponent is.
There are those who feel the National Championship Game is the only game Ohio State should ever play in,...I am not one of them.
I do expect Ohio State to finish in the Top Five every year,...Ohio high school football produces that kind of talent, and Jim Tressel has done a good job of keeping most of it here the last seven years.

All that is well and all...and like i said i would support bucks no matter where they play in jan...under the circumstances i wouldn't want anyone else playing if mizz doesn't win against OU....we would be #2 and i would be REALLY EXCITED!! butt i kno that we would prolly lose against WVU most likely...yah you would prolly disagree with me and thts fine...but thts jus the way i feel....i really did wish we never lost to illi even then i would have felt like we aren't the best team in the country...

i'm kinda with you, pat white against the ohio state defense scares me, but i do think that west virginia's defense is pretty horrible, and i think ohio state can attack them on the ground and in the air...
i think it would be a great game, but it would be high scoring...
having a well rested beanie wells wouldn't hurt, getting him fresh for a big game would be an advantage
ohio state i think could eliminate a lot of huge plays for pat white, they did the same with juice williams, but juice made big plays when he needed them late in the game, remember, he burned them with his arm on scoring plays, you just have to tip your hat, because that really has to be the game plan when you face a quarterback like juice or pat white, you take away their legs, and force them to beat you with the throw...
but illinois' defense also stepped up big time in that game, and i think illinois plays much better defesnse than west virginia, which is why i'd pick ohio state in the championship
ohio state/west virginia would be the best possible matchup of the remaning teams that have a chance...

It's not a done deal yet,...West Virginia still has to beat Pitt. And even if they do,...Oklahoma can still send Ohio State to the NC.

i dont know if anyone would argue that the Rose Bowl is better, but I can say that personally I see it as equal. I mean for decades that was the end goal, and now to have the chance to be there, for the first time in over a decade, is just amazing.
I would love to win a National Championship, but I love the outright Big Ten title and the Rose Bowl against a Pac 10 Champion, it kind of feels likes putting on my favorite old tshirt.

A fart in a blizzard. The WAC is inferior to the major conferences. Hawaii could not compete with the top teams, IMO.

I don't disagree with that at all,....but it happens and it deserves its due respect.
I would not have been unhappy to see Kansas and Hawaii in the NC.
However, Hawaii is now the only major undefeated college football team in the country.

My thought at this point has been why not Hawaii? Everyone else has had their chance and screwed it up. I personally find it incredibly difficult to believe that their offense can't keep them in a game with anyone in the country.
Part of the problem they've been having is that no one wants to play them. Michigan was supposed to play them to open the season but eventually turned them down, ironically for Appalachian State , Michigan State pulled out of a game late in the scheduling process causing Hawaii to have to schedule a second 1-AA team and kill any SOS they may have had. If no team will play you out of conference, you're kind of just stuck as a WAC school, which is obviously a shame.
I always hear the "they can only beat who is on their schedule" for other teams but why does no one defend Hawaii in the process? Does anyone feel like conferences should start signing scheduling agreements across the board? Like lets say every Big Ten team plays 1 SEC team out of conference for x amount of years? The obvious solution is a playoff but a scheduling agreement like that might atleast help.
I just kind of feel bad for Hawaii. It's the only division in any sport where you could go undefeated and not get a chance to prove you're the best team. Just think how great that would be for college football to have a team like Hawaii make a run at the national title. Isn't that what sports are all about? The little brother on the block trying to prove they belong?
I'm definitely pulling for them against Washington. They won't get a title shot but I would love to see Hawaii embarrass a BCS conference champion.

you would put 9-3 Tennessee (who were outscored 145-68 in their losses to Cal, Florida, and Bama) ahead of: 10-2 Georgia 10-2 Va Tech 10-2 Boston College 10-2 LSU 9-2 Arizona State 9-3 Flordia 9-3 Illinois

Tennessee is playing as good a level of football, at this time of year, as any other 2 loss team in the country. Don't care what the scoring numbers say, they are an SEC Division Champ and may win the Conference. You don't seem -- didn't seem -- upset when undefeated Kansas was outranked by LSU,..... The point is, my poll doesn't hold a lot of logic for some people, and I can understand why,....so why should anyone have to put any credence in what any poll tells us ?? Why ISN'T Hawaii at least 3 or 4, considering what Boise did last year ?? Why is Ohio State going to be shut out by West Virginia -- who I agree should scare the dog out of anyone right now -- whose one loss is to a now unranked South Florida, when Ohio State lost to a now ranked # 20 Illinois ? Why is Kansas going to be shut out by Ohio State, when their loss is to the now # 1 ranked team in the country ?? Let alone Ohio State is idle,.... Why will Kansas even get a Bowl game when they can't win their own conference ? Why isn't there as playoff,...? I don't make the rules for pollsters, so that means I don't have to follow them either.

Georgia won....
And I'm glad Tennessee won too cuz playing LSU is not going to help us since they lost to Arkansas.
Georgia should be #4 or 5 now...

Takin' the old back door approach, like all us Ohio State fans, huh ??
So back the cart up, you think taking out a # 1 LSU would have put Georgia in the Title Game ?? With the Bulldogs and the Sooners both at 2 losses ?? Not unless West Virginia also had 2, then I might agree,...
Georgia is one of those pool bubblers that's gonna get a good Bowl without winning their conference, with Hawaii sitting at 12-0.

I'm definitely pulling for them against Washington. They won't get a title shot but I would love to see Hawaii embarrass a BCS conference champion.
I don't see how beating the Huskies makes any kind of case for Hawaii belonging with the elites ... Washington is 4-8, 10th place in the PAC, and without their freshman phenom QB, Jake Locker.
