Short week coming after a horrible loss.
No loss is good. But losing like we did Sunday is a hard pill to swallow.
This is an important game for Stefanski. There are no excuses for 4th quarter collapses. They know it is a problem and it must be fixed.
It is not about firing coaches. It is about correcting mistakes so they will not happen again. This loss must burn.
Stefanski must make it burn. I think he is a good coach. Some want spit and fire. Others like Dungy.
It is black and white. Wins and loses.
In order for this years Browns to have any kind of chance. The defense has to play to their talent level.

Gut feeling: it will be a season spiraling loss
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

If we don’t lose yesterday - and that loss needed about 10 things to go wrong, and we were 10 out of 10 - we aren’t having these death-knell conversations.

the same qb that did us dirty did it again. The same type of qb that we had in the past did us no good. the same defensive blunder we had in the past came up again, cover 2 against deep bomb.
I`m good with Baker... Playoffs is good enough for me.

The loss to the Jets felt like the biggest symbolic gut punch we’ve had in a long time. Tough to believe this team will do anything of substance after that debacle.

Our loss to NE was particularly ugly as well. I predict a Cleveland win, since Trubisky is not doing well, OC Canada is awful as well. And the run defense isn't great either. I think Cribbs will have a huge night. Hope I'm wrong of course Here's hoping for an injury-free game for both sides.

IMO in sports players and coaches learn to turn the page. They have to. All teams lose tough games. When you play sports at the highest level to get to that point you have played many many games. You get conditioned to play the game in front of you.
I am not a person who buys into a loss will kill a season. The Ravens, Bengals, and Steelers are no different than the Browns this week. All lost tough games. Get over it.
The offense played great. We know where the mistakes took place. It is not a matter of player talent. It is a matter of players and coaches being better.
If the Browns had lost because it was a clear case of a better team. Then this season would be lost.
This is a home game against a division rival. Both teams are 1-1.
Go win this game and play better football for four quarters.

This team is already fractured. Finger pointing, “you all don’t know what goes on in the huddle” talk, non-communication, no buying into the scheme…
The spiral already started and Pittsburgh lives for this. This will be trubisky’s coming out party. And that defense is gonna shut us down. And we’re gonna get humiliated at home infront of everyone.

Yep, Pittsburgh notoriously is the nail in the coffin for our season. This year it just comes much earlier.

Mom - I assume you mean Chubb. I don't think Joshua Cribbs has come out of retirement, lol. Bone, I agree with what you said and will add off of it. Before the season started, I said I don't overreact to games. Sure, I was annoyed with the loss (especially how we lost). I understand the criticism on certain areas (i.e. the defense, etc). But as I said, I have seen teams go 5-0 and not make the playoffs, I've seen teams go 0-5 and make the playoffs. Teams will adjust. It was talked about last year on here in the beginning of the season and seeing one of the side of the ball improving by game 5 or 6 (I don't remember). What I am getting at is this team game by game will look different than it did from the beginning of the season. Dawgs4life - "Tough to believe this team will do anything of substance after that debacle." I'm just quoting this piece of what you said. This is a possibility. The flip side, (excluding the coaches) how strong are our team leaders? Do they step up and say enough of this bs. We need to come together and work these issues out and take accountability of our roles? Sometimes you need that failure, that embarrassment to light that fire. We will see how strong their leadership is week by week. As for the Steelers: Their offense hasn't been good through two games. Their fans were chanting for Pickett last game. They do have some weapons on offense, but they've only scored 14 points on offense the past two games. Their defense has played pretty well despite Watt being out. Though they couldn't generate a pass rush. Our line is better than the Pats, so I am hoping that will even be a truer statement for our game. My two biggest concerns about their D, is Heyward has always been a problem for us. I am hoping with Watt out, we can assist in other areas with our blockers. Fitzpatrick is the other. Unless I am mis-remembering, he's always been a good/great ball hawk. Funny enough, their PR has had two straight games with a muffed punt. If this game goes into overtime, I suggest they have a punt catch off to see who wins. Whoever catches the most punts out of 5 between him and Felton.....though that may end in a 0-0 tie Pitt was 0-5-1 last year without Watt. Hopefully that trend will continue.

I totally disagree with you.
The team is 1-1. The Steelers are 1-1. The Ravens 1-1 and the Bengals 0-2. There are 15 games left.
Why on earth would you buy into that mentality?
Maybe the Bengals should forfeit the season?
Why play Thursday?

Why play Thursday? Because we’ve seen this story about a thousand times haha. I’ll still watch and cheer like I have my whole life, but the realistic view set in again Sunday: we are an embarrassment.

I do not see it that way at all.
We lost a game that by all reason we should not have lost. The odds were like a lottery pick to loose.
So based upon that. You throw in the towel with 15 games left.
I have news. This is a good roster. The season is far from over.

I hope you’re right bone! That would be awesome.
If someone told me to bet my salary on either of these two outcomes: we finish the year above .500 or below .500, I’d put it all on the later

The loss to the Jets felt like the biggest symbolic gut punch we’ve had in a long time. Tough to believe this team will do anything of substance after that debacle. They will either fold or come out and kick ass on D. I am going to cling to the kick ass theory. They need to. If we come out and stink up the joint, somebody is getting fired Friday morning. Haslam is spending a lot of money on this team and he doesn't expect to see meltdowns every week, and rightfully so. Canning someone may not be the answer, but there is symbolism in such a move that sends the message to the GM on down. We squeaked out a win against Carolina and saw what happened against the Jets on Sunday. Both weeks it was the D who fell apart. Before the season everybody and their brother felt the O was going to have problems. That hasn't been the case. It has played well enough to win both games. The D is the unit stinking up the joint. Something has to change on that D. I don't care if it is players, coaches, scheme, or some combination of all, but if the D fails again, it is going to be a bloody Friday in Berea, and it should be. Oh...and just a bit of a rant..Myles needs to shut the hell up about booing fans. What the hell does he expect after that totally feeble display by the D last Sunday? Lucky for him there is a 99% chance the O will be getting the introductions before the game. The Steelers will defer if they win the toss and if we have any sense at all we aren't going to have the D run through the tunnel before the game if we win the toss. I might not boo them at the intro's, but I sure as hell won't cheer for them until earn that from me. Myles, don't let your head get too big for your shoulders.

How we respond this game, IMO, will set the tone for the season.

I agree.
This Steeler team is about as bad as they will ever be. They have a poor OL.
They are in transition at quarterback. Their best player Watt is out.
It is a Thursday night home game on national team.
The Browns need to come out burning to win this game.

Yep, I'm with you. If we can't beat the lowly steelers on our own turf it surely sets a poor tone for the year. My optimism has been shot down after watching these first two games. I'd feel better if Clowney was healthy and available....maybe someone will step up in his place.. Go Browns!

well, Clowney left the stadium Sunday in a walking boot, so it's probably a little bit more than just resting. Bitonio could be age, could be injury... he's at that stage Joe Thomas was at where he gets a little extra leeway now. Myles, who knows... maybe he's protesting the boo birds, lol
Browns is the Browns
... there goes Joe Thomas, the best there ever was in this game.

i think our offense will move the ball fine. right now i just dont trust the defense to make a stop when it matters. we're gonna put up #'s in the run game, and i think Njoku could have a redemption game from sunday against the steelers.
but the defense....

These players and this defense is capable.
They have played well together. It is up to the coaches and players to correct their mistakes.
The talent to be a good defense is there. I don't think it is the scheme.

A personal story about the game. My wife and I are celebrating our 37th wedding anniversary on the day of Browns/Steelers game. We have already agreed to go out to dinner at our favorite restaurant to Friday. On gameday, we are just doing pizza so we don't have to cook. She is a huge Steelers fan and obviously I am a huge Browns fan. She will be watching the game in our living room and I'll be upstairs in my man cave watching the game. LOL
When we first met, she had Steeler season tix and I had season tix for the Browns. I went to a game w/her in Pittsburgh when they played the Browns that year. Bernie was a young qb and the Browns were playing pretty good. Suddenly, the place got very loud while we were in shotgun. Bernie turns his head and we snap the ball [I think it was Mike Baab] and we fumble the ball. The Steeler fans in our section were going nuts and yelling about how they caused the turnover. A short time later, the Browns made a couple of good plays and I got up and started yelling something like "Yeah Brownies, kick the Squeelers blankety blank!" My wife is tugging on my arm trying to get me to sit down. LOL, things got a little crazy. In the end, we lost the game. My future wife was happy, though. So not all was lost.

Good story. Congratulations on anniversary.
Any time we play a division game or in particular the Steelers. I think of my close friend who passed away 5 years ago.
His voice is almost identical to Quincy Carrier.
From Monday till game time every night we would be on the phone breaking down the game. I mean in extreme detail. Hours of discussion. Matchups. Game plans. Key players. Offensive and defensive objectives. One would think we were being paid. This was a 30 year practice.
Then game day we were together someplace depending upon the times to watch the game.
Since his passing it has never been the same for me.
