My grandson is sixteen. He is a sophomore in high school and is in the Navy training program.

There has been some front page news about navy suicides and living conditions that are very concerning.

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-new...-sailors-feel-trapped-contract-rcna28516

He has an uncle and aunt who are career Navy and Coast Guard. He just went to visit them and went to a Naval Base. He still has two years before he can actually commit. I have some concerns but it is his decision. I want him to take his time and make an informed and intelligent decision after researching everything he can.

He has been diligent in going through a full due process of investigation. So I will be good with what he decides in the end.

Thanks to all who took the time watch...I hope it was a unique experience for those who have never witnessed such an event and hopefully it gave everyone a sense of pride and understanding of the sacrifices that "some are willing to make", to insure that you, your families and all Americans can continue to enjoy the freedoms that these few help to provide for "YOU".

Freedom is NOT FREE...the United States Military sacrifices so all of us can enjoy our American Freedoms. Never take for granted the sacrifices being made by these few women and men who graduated today...!

I want to thank all who watched and I do appreciate the comments.

My Grandson will be on to his tech school this weekend and begins the next phase of his education. Since graduating from HS (a few years ago) 'young mac', has worked as an apprentice electrician and is looking forward to pursuing a career in the Navy dealing with electronics. His recruiter had him pre-test for an associated career field and his test scores helped qualify him for the tech school and career field he wants to pursue.

While 'young mac' is following in the family tradition of military service, understand this...no one in the family tried to encourage him to pursue a military career. Even though Dad was career Navy, retiring after 20 yrs, he did not push his son to 'Do What Dad Did' and join the Navy. Young mac made his own decision to join the Navy and pursue a career field of his choice.

Also, young mac knows what is expected of him and he knows what he signed up for...

"I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."

I hope it all works out for him...America is getting "a good one"..!

It has been close to 30 years since I got out of the Navy and it is still the most important time of my life to me, aside from the Present. Best times I ever had, the worst times I ever had, and the best friends for life I could ever hope to have.

Little Mac is off for one heck of a journey and experience.
