I kinda feel like it is not that cut n dry of a situation.... As we all know the swirling wind epidemic in that place regardless of how it comes to the lakefront.
At DT, context and meaning are a scarecrow kicking at moving goalposts.

Not only that, but a SW wind means one team per quarter IS NOT even attempting a FG over 35 yards.

Run the ball and then run it some more with a few short passes mixed in.

Finally, some football weather. Not once did I ever play football in -9 conditions. I'd bet most people have not, you have to play deep into a season with an outdoor stadium in the northern part of the country. Very few colleges and virtually zero high schools play in these conditions. This is NOT "football weather" and for 70% of the country this isn't even weather they will ever experience. It's a novelty so it's fun sure, but this is hardly conducive to anything productive and is definitely not football weather.

I bet they just pull Andy Dalton and run the option with Hill. Unfortunately that doesn't put us at any strategic advantage with a mobile QB because they have a running back playing QB.
I hate these games. It always so lame to see 10-6 finals.

I hate these games. It always so lame to see 10-6 finals. Woods is probably preparing for an aerial attack. Stefanski won't know this until he sees it on the field on Saturday since he's probably busy putting some new dishes on the waffle house menu.

Watson is going to freeze in place like a statue!! I wonder what thickness of coat they'll run out with during breaks for Watson. It will definitely be something to keep an eye on.

Browns mentally prepare to embrace extreme cold conditions expected vs. SaintsSome players will be able to embrace the arctic conditions more than others Dec 21, 2022 at 03:01 PM Anthony Poisal Staff Writer The Browns will play in one of their coldest games in franchise history Saturday against the Saints. With real feel temperatures expected to drop to -20 degrees, wind gusts potentially blowing as high as 62 mph and snow possibly falling as well, the conditions will be unlike anything most Browns players have ever experienced during a football game. David Njoku, though, still plans to stick with his shirtless look during pregame warmups. "I'm not from South Florida," said Njoku, who attended Miami for college but is from Cedar Grove, New Jersey. "I was born in Jersey, so I'm used to the cold. However, that doesn't mean I like the cold. On game days, I don't really mind the cold. As you can probably tell, I'm shirtless pregame every game. "It's more like a mentality thing. On game day, I feel nothing." Not every player will have as easy of a time ignoring the cold like Njoku, which will make several elements of the game interesting for the Browns as they go for their fourth win in the last five games. The arctic conditions will likely mean both teams are forced to turn to their run game more frequently. That strategy that should benefit RB Nick Chubb, who totaled 99 yards last week against the Ravens No. 2-ranked run defense in conditions that were also chilly but not close to the biting cold expected to pierce the air Saturday. Similar to Njoku's "feel nothing" mindset, Chubb also expects to keep his sleeveless jersey setup for the game. When asked if the conditions will make it harder to grip the football, he said "I don't know. Guess we'll find out Saturday." Chubb said he doesn't think about the weather "at all" when he's on the field. "I feel like it hasn't been as cold as it has been my first couple years here until this weekend. It was definitely different, but you get used to it, or you find a way to adapt to it." Photos: Saints Week Practice Check out photos of players and coaches working to prepare for the teams regular season game against the New Orleans Saints The Browns will have to attempt to pass the ball at some point, and it could be difficult for QB Deshaun Watson to connect with Browns receivers on the deep passing plays they've been hoping to discover more as he continues to re-acclimate to NFL speeds. Veteran WR Amari Cooper has played in several chilly settings throughout his eight-year career. To him, the weather shouldn't affect how players play, but he understands how it might alter game plans, particularly in the passing department. "Obviously, the weather does affect the passing game, especially the wind — that's a huge thing," he said. "There are things you can do to mitigate that. That's when strategy comes into play." When the Browns do pass, the throws will likely be of the shorter variety, but Watson proved last week in the 13-3 win over the Ravens that he's capable of managing the offense when conditions aren't favorable for big plays. He completed 18 of 28 pass attempts for 161 yards and one touchdown and no interceptions or turnovers, a stat line that'll always be acceptable in wintry conditions if the defense also does their part. Saturday will likely be a tougher challenge for Watson, who said the game will "definitely" be the coldest game he's played in. "My main job is just going out there and like I said before just executing the game plan and try to win," Watson said. "Not so much of what the weather is going to be because I can't control that." CB Greg Newsome was a bit more blunt about the cold. He played in several frigid games in college at Northwestern and as a youth and high school player growing up near Chicago, and those experiences have given him the kind of perspective most fans likely expect players to really feel when they're in a glacial environment. "I don't think you can ever necessarily prepare for that," Newsome said. "It's definitely going to be cold. I just feel like it's a decision to make: Are you going to let it affect you or not? Everyone loves to say, 'You went to Northwestern.' You can't prepare for cold. I'm cold, too, but it's just the mindset that you go into the game with." Would going shirtless like Njoku help Newsome reach that mindset faster? "Nah," Newsome said. "I ain't going to do that." https://www.clevelandbrowns.com/new...treme-cold-conditions-expected-vs-saints

Sure it is.
Played many days on frozen ponds back in the 70s. Single digits to 0 with wind chills less than 0. Most definitely old school hockey and skiing weather.

I’ve always known how to do the Canadian/American conversion from Celsius to Fahrenheit - if it’s 20C, double it and add 30, so it’s about 70F, but I have trouble when Americans say it’s -9, or whatever. Cuz -9 is Celsius, up here, is cold but it’s not THAT cold.
Could we get bbrowns32 to help me with this?

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

I live along the Lake on the east side of town, and this morning, the wind is absolutely WILD and it's only projected to get worse. I will not be surprised if windows get busted up.
If this keeps up, the game tomorrow should be interesting, to say the least. Make Cade York inactive because you won't be able to use him! Hahaha.

It was -1 with about 20mph winds here in Nashville when I got up. It's risen to a balmy 0 as of now with wind speeds picking up. I know that's not all that unusual for northern Ohio but down here this is the first time it's been below zero since February of 1996. I actually had to break out my "Ohio gear". lol
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

We’re in the midst of an ice storm up here in the PacNW. The winds have been crazy in town. 40 mile an hour gusts. Up in the mountains and the Columbia river gorge gusts to 80 miles an hour. Temps in town are in the 20’s. Rain/ice still coming down. Needless to say I’m not going to work today. They can open the office but no way I’m going out to risk my life. Understand we don’t salt our roads. We don’t have a bunch of plows and such either as we don’t get much of this kind of weather. Many of the hills will be impassable around town. Nope. Not doing it.

If it makes you feel any better, we had a wind gust of about 10 mph earlier that chilled me to the bones. Brrrrrrrr. I quickly recovered though.
I think I might go for a bike ride later as well.

It's 50 degrees and sunny here. About to go outside and have a coffee in my shorts. 66 degrees in southern AZ today. I opened up a few windows to let the good air in. I was starting to feel guilty thinking about and talking to family back in Lorain County, then I remembered the 117 degree days we get here in the summer. Looking forward to watching the game regardless.

Not only that, but a SW wind means one team per quarter IS NOT even attempting a FG over 35 yards. That is why I would work things to have the wind in the 4th qtr.
