Not a soccer fan at all, but he seemed like a classy dude.

Yes. Sometimes that term gets overused... not here. His GOAT status has an added qualifier... ICON. Pele is to soccer as Ali is to boxing.

Pele was my first ever soccer experience

I believe it was around 1970 I was standing up turning the handle on the tv looking for something to watch

NO remote back then for you youngsters smile

It was ABC wide world of sports showing this game I Think

I saw this Brazilian (black guy) in a yellow shirt with blue shorts running around sweating his butt off doing backward flips kicking a ball

I watched my first ever Soccer game

I was amazed at what Pele was doing..knowing nothing about the game

And as fast as I learned about Pele.. as fast he disappeared from the game and I lost interest

In a few moments of watching him, I felt blessed I had the chance to watch and actually remember it .

R.I.P, Pele.

More than anyone else, he brought the game to the USA. As most in this country, soccer wasn't a sport of interest, but knew who the man with one name was.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

RIP to the legend

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."
