The simple answer is there aren't many candidates standing in line. Panther's ownership looks clueless, their coaching has sucked, the talent is so-so and they play musical chairs at QB. They've played 7 different QBs over the last three seasons.

Reich, as an offensive mind, can establish an offensive identity and maybe pick the right QB. He has a puncher's chance of immediately competing in a weak division whose winner was actually under .500.

I think Reich is a decent HC. I don't know enough about him to say that definitively, but he seemed pretty good from afar. I actually thought Wilkes did a good job w/the Panthers after he replaced Rhule. That team played hard and they competed. And he did it w/Sam Darnold, PJ Walker, and Baker Mayfield and most of it came after they traded away CMC.

I love how certain Browns fans take pot shots at other teams when our Browns are the ones actually posting records of cluelessness. In the last 10 years:

Panthers Regular season record: 80-81-1_______Browns Regular season record: 54-107-1
Panthers NFC South Championships: 3_________Browns AFC North Championships: 0
Panthers NFC South 2nd place: 2_____________ Browns AFC North 2nd place: 0
Panthers Playoff appearances: 4______________ Browns Playoff appearances: 1
Panthers NFC Champions: 1__________________Browns AFC Champions: 0
Panthers Super Bowls: 1____________________ Browns Super Bowls: 0
Panthers HC Hires: 2_______________________ Browns HC Hires: 5
Panthers Intermin HC's: 2___________________ Browns Intermin HC's: 1
Panthers QB's played last 3 seasons: 7_________ Browns QB's played last 3 seasons: 5
Panthers 2022 record 7-10-0 2nd place_________Browns 2022 record 7-10-0 last place.

Yep, the Panther's ownership looks clueless, their coaching has sucked, the talent is so-so and they play musical chairs at QB and yet they have a better everything over the last 10-years than our beloved Browns. Every team has its ups and downs, decade snapshots give a clearer picture of how a franchise is really performing. At least the Panthers ownership was smart enough to realize they made a mistake with Ruhle.

Who gives a crap?

Take a break with all your useless comparisons. Nobody even reads that ish.

We can talk about the Panthers without having to compare them with the Browns.

We can talk about Watson without having to compare him to Brock-freaking-Purdy.

Why don't you go cherry-pick some stats that prove anyone cares about your opinion.

Obviously, you give a crap otherwise you wouldn't have posted with such hatred. Now if you want to be civilized and have a conversation about our 230M QB not playing up to expectations for what he's being paid then we can. I, along with others on this forum, wonder why when anyone questions anything with the Browns you immediately respond with the hatred posts. I've never attacked you like you feel you have the obligation to attack me. You are right though, you have the right to attack the Panthers and Brock-Freaking-Purdy all day long if it suits you, but I likewise have the same right to compare their results with what our Browns have done. Let's remember one thing though, I'm not the one that started the bashing of the Panthers - sorry if it offends you that they have produced a better product than our Browns have the last decade. Maybe the Browns should ask for some pointers. Of course, that goes for the majority of the NFL teams and with our stellar 7-10 record with a last place AFC North finish hasn't helped any either.

If the Browns ever expect to get better, they need to be aware of their shortcomings. I freely get to discuss those shortcomings here. Lashing out at me doesn't change that fact.

I don't think "obviously" means what you think it means.

The interesting one is Payton. Curious to see if and where he goes

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

I have a hunch that Payton takes another year off. I think he wants the Charger job. I'm sure there are some others, but Denver w/Russ and Arizona w/Murray are not all that desirable.

Yeah that could be the case. Chargers/Cowboys gig

Falcons hire Saints' Ryan Nielsen as new defensive coordinator to replace retired Dean Pees
Nielson was the co-defensive coordinator in New Orleans for the 2022 season.

Looks like McCarthy is right on the hot seat this year

That was quick.....

Former #Cowboys OC Kellen Moore is expected to become the #Chargers OC, sources tell me and
@TomPelissero
. The talented play-caller goes from Dak Prescott to Justin Herbert, a quick move after his departure from Dallas.

Quickest route to getting a Superbowl ring, maybe?

It seems like he won't be there before that. I do wonder how ring allocation works, when you have to be on staff and such.

He is the twin brother of Andrew.

They are talking about a 1st rounder this year and a 2nd rounder next year for Payton and a 3rd next year.

Crazy!

Nice move by the Texans - Ryans has earned the opportunity.

It would appear that the new Bronco ownership is putting a priority on winning by going after a vetted proven NFL coach in Payton. Nine playoff appearances in 15 years with a winning Super Bowl is pretty good credentials. A 1st round this year (29th pick), and a 2nd rounder next year doesn't look all that expensive when you think about the upside of getting a proven HC.

Hopefully Payton can handle the Russell Wilson Rehab Project. Maybe if he threatens to commandeer his office...

Personally, I think Denver is nuts. Wilson sucked last year and seems more interested in his legacy than his teammates. And no way would I give up that kind of draft capital for a coach. Better them than us.

Don't think I've ever seen draft picks traded for a head coach before.

Interesting story here about the history of trading for coaches...

Don Shula: 1970
Bill Parcells: 1997
Mike Holmgren: 1999
Bill Belichick: 2000
Jon Gruden: 2002
Herm Edwards: 2006
Bruce Arians: 2019

The trade that didn't happen: Jim Harbaugh in 2014. Browns offered two 3rds to San Francisco, Harbaugh opted for Xichigan

I'd argue it's more of a Hail Mary than anything on Bronco ownership's behalf. Payton might up and "retire" again if things get tough. Broadcast booth may call again if things do not work out with Wilson who they are stuck with, and have no draft capital to land a top QB in the draft. He bailed when it was rebuild time in NO and will again in Denver if a rebuild becomes necessary.

I’m not saying SP is not a good coach, because I think he is, but he did have Drew Brees to help with all his playoff success.

Happened a few times most recently 2019 with Ariens
