Republicans don't want to govern; they want to act like petulant children throwing a tantrum part of the time and like fascist brainless asshats the rest of the time.

Biden just basically gave MAGA part of what it wants, and they had no idea how to handle that. lmao, you can't make this crap up.

Ohio abortion law meant weeks of ‘anguish,’ ‘agony’ for couple whose unborn child had organs outside her body

https://www.cnn.com/2023/02/08/health/ohio-abortion-long/index.html

Judges Denied a 14-Year-Old’s Request for an Abortion. Twice.

In a new report about minors denied abortions in Florida, judges evidently deemed one kid too shy to be mature enough for an abortion, and another too curt.

It’s cases like this that make my blood boil. There’s a poster on this board that brushed off as nothing the anguish my family has experienced because of similar hardship.
There is no humanity in those that think that families should suffer. That the born can suffer a life of hell, a fate far worse than death, because they were brought into this world.
Oh but the precious cell clumps. They have a right to suffer. They have a right to bring pain and suffering to families.
Screw antiabortionists.

Jesse Watters Loses His $#!+ in Embarrassing Rant on GOP Hearings

Thursday marked just the second day of the GOP-led House hearings on the alleged “weaponization” of the federal government against conservatives, and Fox News host Jesse Watters is already demanding that “someone” end up in jail.

Watters began his rant on The Five by citing testimony earlier in the day by Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), who alleged that “whistleblower disclosures” he obtained show “voluminous evidence with respect to potential criminal conduct” by Hunter Biden, whose financial records and family correspondence Republicans are seeking.

“And no one’s even talking about it!” Watters complained on the network that routinely mentions the president’s son. “You want to know why? Because everybody already knows that! Everybody already knows all of this stuff! So, what is the endgame here?”

“We get screwed, then we have a hearing,” continued the impatient host, apparently speaking for all conservatives at this point. “Nothing happens. We get screwed again. We have a hearing. Nothing happens.”

Wednesday’s hearing didn’t go so well for those anticipating the exposure of some sort of anti-conservative “censorship” by Twitter with input from the FBI—with former officials at the social media company testifying that it was actually former President Donald Trump who asked them to remove certain tweets he didn’t care for. Rolling Stone also reported during the hearing that other Republicans regularly wanted posts removed.

Still, Watters recklessly asserted that there exists an “FBI dictatorship.” He then cast a vague net of blame on “the media” for not covering “any of the substance” of the hearings thus far.

“I’m sick of these hearings,” a disgusted Watters finally exclaimed before deciding to call for prison time for nobody in particular. “Make me feel better, guys. Tell me this is going somewhere. Can I throw someone in prison? Can someone go to jail? Can someone get fined?”

After bickering with liberal co-host Jessica Tarlov over the Steele dossier, Watters hammed it up before demanding loudly that the show cut to break.

So you admit he said those things but brush it off and blame the source that reported it. Typical response.

No I admit he said those things and blame you for posting this drivel. What he said isn’t conveyed in the article the way it was was written. I’m sure Jessie is laughing at you and the Daily Beast for your response. As for your typical response crack…. I’ve been here almost as long as you. This is the first time I have ever laughed at someone’s source.

It's not my fault you have decided to follow the crowd by blaming a source for providing the facts. On one hand you admit that Jessie Waters is over the top then laugh about a source you claim to be the same?

That's pretty ironic don't you think? When people laugh I often consider the source. As such is usually doesn't matter. Just like this time.

George Santos says Kyrsten Sinema told him to 'hang in there.' Her office says that’s a 'lie.'

Santos told Newsmax that after Sen. Mitt Romney lashed out at him ahead of Tuesday's State of the Union address, Sinema told him to "hang in there, buddy”

WASHINGTON — Rep. George Santos, R-N.Y., said in an interview on Thursday that Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, I-Ariz., consoled him after his tense exchange this week with Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, but Sinema's office says she never spoke to Santos.

Santos told Newsmax Thursday evening that after Romney lashed out at him ahead of Tuesday's State of the Union address, Sinema told the congressman to “hang in there, buddy” as she was walking by. He added that she "was very polite, very kindhearted," unlike Romney, who he claims has "always had prejudice towards minorities."

"She’s a good person, unlike Mr. Romney, who thinks he’s above it all. And his whole mighty white horse trying to talk to us down on morality," Santos said.

But that never happened, Sinema's spokesperson Hannah Hurley, told NBC News, calling Santos' comment "a lie." The two lawmakers never spoke, Hurley said, and Sinema was not aware of the exchange between Santos and Romney until the GOP senator filled her in afterward.

Santos' office declined to comment for this article.

During the same interview with Newsmax, Santos claimed he never lied about his work experience. "I want to set the record clear about my work experience. I never lied." Santos said. “To say that I deceived and there was a campaign of deceit and deception, is just not fair. That’s just the political spin that the Nassau County GOP wants to create on this narrative."

Santos, however, had previously admitted to lying about numerous parts of his background. He is the subject of federal, state, local and international investigations.

When asked by the Newsmax host whether he ever survived a brain tumor, Santos said, "I had my own personal medical issues in the past and I don’t feel I need to go into details. But yes, I did have an acute tumor of..." The congressman had previously claimed in 2020 that he had battled a brain tumor a couple of years earlier.

Ahead of President Joe Biden's State of the Union address on Tuesday, Romney approached Santos while the congressman stood in the aisle of the House chamber and they had what appeared to be a tense exchange. Afterward, Romney said, "He’s a sick puppy. He shouldn’t have been there,” he said of Santos standing in the aisle.

“Given the fact that he’s under ethics investigation, he should be sitting in the back row and being quiet instead of parading in front of the president,” he added.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., said last month that Santos would be removed from office if the Ethics Committee found he broke the law after he admitted having fabricated parts of his background. He told reporters on Tuesday that while there have been complaints about Santos, the Ethics Committee has not formally opened an investigation.

Santos said last month he would temporarily recuse himself from his committee assignments amid the investigations into his finances and other issues.

Rioter who menaced officer with Confederate flag gets prison

WASHINGTON (AP) — A Delaware man who threatened a Black police officer with a pole attached to a Confederate battle flag as he stormed the U.S. Capitol was sentenced on Thursday to three years in prison.

Kevin Seefried, 53, tearfully apologized for his participation in the Jan. 6, 2021, riot before U.S. District Judge Trevor McFadden sentenced him.

“I never wanted to send a message of hate,” Seefried said.

McFadden said it was deeply troubling that Seefried wielded the flagpole as a weapon against the officer.

“Bringing a Confederate flag into one of our nation’s most sacred halls was outrageous,” the judge said.

McFadden allowed Seefried to remain free until he must report to prison at a date to be determined.

Justice Department prosecutors had recommended a prison sentence of five years and 10 months for Seefried, a drywall mechanic from Laurel, Delaware.

Seefried and his adult son, Hunter, stormed the Capitol together after attending the “Stop the Steal” rally, where then-President Donald Trump addressed thousands of supporters in Washington. Kevin Seefried was the 12th rioter to set foot inside the building that day, according to prosecutors.

In October, McFadden sentenced Hunter Seefried to two years of imprisonment.

Jessie Waters is on Fox. He is not hard news, which is what Fox called fair and balanced. He is a commentator who is unabashed conservative. Just like the rest of their nighttime lineup.

I am qualified to judge each. I have seen enough and read enough to know about each.

Texas AG settles with former aides who reported him to FBI

Ken Paxton has agreed to apologize and pay $3.3 million in taxpayer money to four former staffers who accused him of corruption in 2020, igniting an ongoing FBI investigation.

DALLAS — Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has agreed to apologize and pay $3.3 million in taxpayer money to four former staffers who accused him of corruption in 2020, igniting an ongoing FBI investigation of the three-term Republican.

Under terms of a preliminary lawsuit settlement filed Friday, Paxton made no admission of wrongdoing to accusations of bribery and abuse of office, which he has denied for years and called politically motivated.

But Paxton did commit to making a remarkable public apology toward some of his formerly trusted advisers whom he fired or forced out after they reported him to the FBI. He called them “rogue employees” after they accused Paxton of misusing his office to help one of his campaign contributors, who also employed a woman with whom the attorney general acknowledged having an extramarital affair.

The attorney general’s office did not immediately respond to requests for comment Friday.

Both sides signed a mediated agreement that was filed in the Texas Supreme Court and will be followed by a longer, formalized settlement.

“Attorney General Ken Paxton accepts that plaintiffs acted in a manner that they thought was right and apologizes for referring to them as ‘rogue employees,’” the final settlement must state, according to court records.

In all, eight members of Paxton’s senior staff joined in the extraordinary revolt in 2020 and either resigned or were fired. The settlement is with four of them who sued under Texas’ whistleblower law.

The payout would not come from Paxton’s own pocket but from state funds, which means it would still require approval by the GOP-controlled Texas Legislature.

Settlement of the case, which Paxton’s office fought in court for years, means he will avoid sitting for a civil deposition at a time when a corruption investigation by federal agents and prosecutors remains open. In turn, the attorney general’s office agreed to remove an October 2020 news release from its website that decries Paxton’s accusers and to issue the statement of contrition to former staffers David Maxwell, Ryan Vassar, Mark Penley and James Blake Brickman.

The settlement also prevents Paxton from seeking the withdrawal of a 2021 appeals court ruling that state whistleblower law applies to the attorney general.

The agreement does not include any provisions limiting the ability of Paxton’s accusers to make public statements or cooperate with federal investigators.

The deal comes more than two years after Paxton’s staff accused him of misusing his office to help Austin real estate developer Nate Paul, whose business was also under federal investigation. The allegations centered on Paxton hiring an outside lawyer to investigate Paul’s claims of misconduct by the FBI.

Paxton and Paul have broadly denied wrongdoing and neither has been charged with a federal crime.

In the wake of the revolt, an Associated Press investigation in September found that Paxton’s agency has come unmoored, with seasoned lawyers quitting over practices they say slant legal work, reward loyalists and drum out dissent.

But the investigation, accusations and a separate 2015 securities fraud indictment for which Paxton has yet to face trial have done little to hurt him politically. He easily defeated challenger George P. Bush in a contested GOP primary last spring, went on to decisively beat his Democratic opponent and secure a third term in November and has filed a steady stream of legal challenges to the administration of Democratic President Joe Biden.

While swearing in Paxton to another four years on the job last month, Republican Gov. Greg Abbott described it as an easy call during the midterm elections to keep backing him.

“I supported Ken Paxton because I thought the way he was running the attorney general’s office was the right way to run the attorney general’s office,” said Abbott.

Christian Preacher Asks God to Give Gay People a 'Slow, Painful Death'

A Baptist preacher sparked outrage online after footage of him emerged saying he hopes "every homo that exists" suffers "a slow, painful death" during a speech last week.

Duncan Urbanek made the comments at Pure Words Baptist Church in southwest Houston, Texas.

A clip from the speech was reposted online by Hemant Mehta, a secular campaigner, who labeled Urbanek a "hate-preacher" on his Friendly Atheist Substack blog. In the video, Urbanek says: "Hey I'm going to pray for every pedophile. Every homo that exists, you know what my prayer for them is? They go straight into hell right now."

He continues: "I have no sympathy for them. I have no love for them. They hate God! They've already rejected God! And if God rejected them, why would I accept them?

"That's why I just pray that they just go to hell! And that's a good imprecatory prayer to have: Hey Lord, let him drop straight into hell right now.

"I mean if that's not gonna happen, you know, let him get run over by a bus! A huge semi-truck! A Mack truck! I mean, let him get struck by lightning. I mean, give him cancer. Let the AIDS just infest their whole body and just die right now. Just destroy them.

"I mean, I don't care which way you do it, Lord. Just kill them right now. Break their teeth in their mouth. Let them have a slow, painful death."

Newsweek reached out to Pure Words Baptist Church for comment.

On its website, the church calls "sodomy & homosexuality" a sin, and says it should be "punished with the death penalty," alongside other perceived offenses such as "adultery" and "striking/cursing your parents."

It does add Christians "should not take the law into their own hands," but insists they must "kick Christians out of the church for any offence punishable by death."

Social media users expressed their outrage at Urbanek's comments on Twitter.

One person tweeted in a response to the video: "'We were made in the image of a loving god' and 'kill them and break their teeth' - I'm not sure how someone can hold both of these."

Another wrote: "I'm glad I stopped going to church."

Separately, a video of a controversial pastor Jonathan Shelley mocking the idea a man should consult his wife on having children was widely shared online earlier this month. In the clip, filmed at the Stedfast Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Shelley said: "How effeminate is that, to let your wife tell you when she's gonna have kids or not? I mean that is feminism."

In November, footage of a Christian vlogger claiming "masturbation is a form of witchcraft" went viral after it was reposted on TikTok, receiving more than 675,000 views.

More than 20,000 people have signed a petition by Faithful America, a progressive Christian group, opposing Donald Trump's 2024 presidential bid and claiming it "would be a disaster for our country" if the Republican returns to the White House.

https://www.newsweek.com/preacher-a...9svsZL1gLeGEla1SwstZJfEJZA4kf8AQrw6E6g-U

Once again we see the actual hatred. We see a far right Baptist preacher comparing being gay to being a pedophile. I certainly do not believe this is the way most Christians view the gay community. But until they publicly denounce these extremists it's going to be hard to convince others they don't at least accept them.

Marjorie Taylor Greene mocked for gushing over ‘anti-woke’ Super Bowl country star - not realising he’s a BLM activist

I would be so embarrassed to call myself a Republican while this woman serves. Glad I'll never have that issue. She is pure gold for satire and late-night shows, though; got to admit that.

That’s what you get when over 30% of your base is as gullible as 2 year old toddlers.

Lying to obtain a seat in Congress is a crime. You take an oath. You break oath. You break the law. You are charged, convicted and punished. The party of law and order are just a bunch of crooks. Lying, stealing, cheating. Crooks.

Alabama Representative Barry Moore, a staunch gun-rights supporter, is proposing that the AR-15 rifle should be the "National Gun of America."

"The #SecondAmendment is as American a right as freedom of speech, religion, & the press," Moore wrote on Twitter Tuesday evening. "Today I unveiled my bill to make the AR-15 the National Gun of America. We must send a message that we will meet every attack on any of our constitutional rights."

Along with the tweet, Moore shared photos of himself speaking with a gun shop clerk. AL.com reported that the store is in Troy, Alabama.

Cuckoo Goper wants to make a weapon of choice for mass murders a National Gun? Really? Who would have thunk it. A cuckoo Goper doesn’t care that the number one cause of death for children in America is gun violence. And Alabama rates in the top 5 states for deaths by gun violence. Pffft the dude doesn’t even care about his own constituents welfare.

The most used firearms in mass shootings are handguns, not rifles.

Yet another stat thrown out with nothing to back it up. Besides a handgun doesn’t kill dozens of kids in school in just seconds. And a handgun isn’t being proposed to be the National Gun of America. Cuckoo Goper’s protecting the weapon of choice for many mass shootings. rolleyes Not at all surprising.

And this is just in general:

Which types of firearms are most commonly used in gun murders in the U.S.?
In 2020, handguns were involved in 59% of the 13,620 U.S. gun murders and non-negligent manslaughters for which data is available, according to the FBI. Rifles – the category that includes guns sometimes referred to as “assault weapons” – were involved in 3% of firearm murders. Shotguns were involved in 1%. The remainder of gun homicides and non-negligent manslaughters (36%) involved other kinds of firearms or those classified as “type not stated.”

Thanks for the stats. A handgun isn’t being proposed and coddled as the National gun by cuckoo republicans. The AR is. Typical deflection.

Banned by then-President Bill Clinton in 1994, AR-15-style rifles returned on the market for civilians in 2004, when the federal ban expired. The weapons have since then surged to become the most-popular sporting rifle in the country, according to the National Shooting Sports Foundation. AR-15-style rifles, which cover a range of semiautomatic firearms inspired by military weapons, have become a recurring feature of mass shootings in the U.S.

SEAN HANNITY LETS MARJORIE TAYLOR GREENE PEDDLE HER SECESSIONIST FANTASIES ON LIVE TELEVISION
The Fox News host seemed notably open to Greene’s idea of a “national divorce,” and even backed her proposal for a temporary voting ban on blue-to-red-state transplants.

Marjorie Taylor Greene, angered by Biden's trip to Ukraine, is again calling for a “national divorce” between blue and red states.

Cuckoo Goper’s want civil freaking war.

Typical political pandering to a base. It is a shocking concept, thankfully only horrible GOPers are the ONLY ones that do such a thing.

BTW.. Deflection would be "AR-15s are the most used gun for mass shootings" then when shown that is wrong pointing out that handguns aren't being proposed so you can continue to show your disdain. That's how you changed the point of it all.

The so-called assault weapons ban was actually passed by congress and signed by Clinton. There was no dictate to just ban them from him.

Yet, I didn’t say that. And of course you can’t realize you are the one deflecting to handguns when this cuckoo republican wants to make the AR 15 the National gun. Gotta defend the AR right? Why? notallthere
