He might be going to a crummy team, but they should have the draft capital to get better quickly. They are sitting about like we were the year Hue came to town.

Texans have some decent players... lots of draft capital... if Ryans can fix the defense, they can draft a QB and bring on a good OC... they could turn it around in a year or two.... Think Texans gave him a 6 year deal, so he's got some stability... and the fans LOVE him....

I’m not saying SP is not a good coach, because I think he is, but he did have Drew Brees to help with all his playoff success. Honest question as I don't know the answer. But how good was Brees before Peyton? Clearly the Chargers weren't sold on him so they drafted Rivers. Brees certainly developed into a HOF Qb. How does the timing of his development correlate with getting paired with Peyton?

I think that is a good question if one is just curious, but if one is trying to prove a point that Payton made Brees, we should also ask what was Payton's record as a HC before Brees got there?
I don't know the answer to either question, but I'm guessing they really helped one another.

I don't know the answer to either question, but I'm guessing they really helped one another. Actually it happened at the same time. Brees signed a six year deal with the Saints in 2006. Payton was the Assistant Head Coach / Passing Game Coordinator in Dallas in 2005 and had never been a HC at either the college or NFL level before taking the HC job with the Saints in 2006. Here is a link to the season records they had working together. Of course the 2021 season was after Brees retired. It gives the complete timeline of Payton's coaching career. https://pro-football-history.com/coach/308/sean-payton-bioSo the question as to who made who or whether it was a combined effort that created this success is quite the mystery.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

How does the timing of his development correlate with getting paired with Peyton? Brees and Payton both came to the Saints together in 2006. Brees had spent his first 5 years in San Diego where he was 30-28 over 4 years after sitting his rookie year. He also made the Pro Bowl in year 4. Brees suffered a torn labrum and partially torn rotator cuff in his right (throwing) shoulder in the 2005 season finale and had surgery a couple of days later. Though injured and without a contract, the Chargers offered a new contract, but it was incentive based and had very little guaranteed money. Brees took this as an insult that the Chargers did not believe in him and his health. Brees left to New Orleans signing a 6 year, $60 million contract that had $10 million guaranteed for the first season even though he was rehabbing a serious injury.

I don't know the answer to either question, but I'm guessing they really helped one another. Peyton did not make Brees, Brees hade a breakout season after Rivers was drafted with it ending with a busted shoulder in the Denver game at the end of the season. Chargers went forward with Rivers, Brees was sniffed by Miami, but wound up winning a SB with Sean and NO. Always liked Brees, he said the biggest difference was core training any it made a difference in his game. He is a decent human being. Before and after his success.
Welcome back, Joe, we missed you!

That is almost a Belichick Brady question.
In a way ya never know. What I will say is this. Both would have done well alone but probably did better together.
Brees was a great quarterback but if he gone to a bad situation the team success would not have happened.
Payton is a fantastic coach. But you can look ordinary as a coach without a great quarterback.

Texans looking poised to turn things around. Should have a solid staff and a lot of ammunition five picks in the top 73.
Will they draft a QB in the first?

They also got a new DC that we wanted to bring in for an interview to be our D-line coach. As far as drafting a qb in the first, I'm guessing they almost have to. New Texans' DC Matt Burke was blocked from talking to Browns about DL coach jobCory Kinnan February 10, 2023 2:00 pm ET As head coaching dominoes begin to fall around the league, teams are also building their staffs. This includes the new head coach of the Houston Texans, DeMeco Ryans, who has hired Matt Burke as his defensive coordinator. This is of interest to the Cleveland Browns, as Burke and new defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz have a history of working together. The Browns sought to bring Burke in to interview for their defensive line coaching gig. However, the team he was then under contract with, the Arizona Cardinals, blocked this request of the Browns. Teams will do this, only allowing coaches under contract to speak with teams about promotions. However, this would also seem to indicate that Jeff Howard may not be the only defensive staffer in Cleveland on the move as the offseason ticks on. https://brownswire.usatoday.com/202...medium=trueanthem&utm_source=twitter

I know he was one tough SOB when he played for us.

Very tough guy. Good man off the field. IIRC, he put up some ridiculously gaudy numbers for us in a few games. He's one of those players that it was pretty easy to tell he'd eventually get a good coaching gig after retirement. Smart. Happy for him.
I think my memories of his years with us would have been better had they not been tied to the Manziel nonsense.

He was tough. I don't think I've ever yelled at a Browns QB to "slide" more than I did Josh. Dude used to attack defenders and often took vicious shots. As a result, he was always banged up. Admired the toughness, but I wanted him to remain on the field. Btw---I am not criticizing him at all. Lot's of respect for tough guys.

I wish we had got him a few years before. He was honestly one of the better we've had since the return.

Steichen to colts makes sense
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

It's after halftime for the Super Bowl, Chiefs down three. If they can pull off the win tonight, I half expect Andy Reid to retire on top.

Someone on here recently told a story about knowing Jonathan Gannon. Who was that? That's pretty cool. This is fairly big news for Philly.

For such an inexperienced and young HC, the possibility of losing both is OC and DC could be a lot to overcome in a single off season if that were to happen.
