I'd imagine this is a bad sign for a guy like Schwartz.

Not necessarily. But he's gonna have to show improvement. However it shakes out, more competition should be good for the resulting room.

You can only allow for a certain number of WR's on your roster. When you add two that are better it usually means there are two existing WR's that will be departing.

Upgrade at any available position any time you can.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

In just a couple of years, this WR room has gone from "ashy to classy".

Milk, you posted Jake Burns' comments on Elijah Moore being better outside that in the slot. I replied that we really didn't have anyone on the roster who was a good slot WR.

Well, signing Goodwin should help solve that problem. Dude ran a 4.27 and has played in the slot. I understand he is 32 or thereabouts, but he can still fly and he is quick in and out of his breaks. I really like this signing because it's a complimentary fit that shouldn't break the bank or require a long-term deal.

Berry is freaking killing it this off-season. Would it be too much to ask to maybe get one more DT, like C. Campbell or maybe a DE like Frank Clark? LOL

I like the fact that Moore has experience in and has shown his capability in playing not only the slot but the outside as well. His speed allows that option. It allows for flexibility to move him around so that opposing defenses never know where he will line up or in what capacity the the Browns may use him on any given play. He could be lined up in the slot or used on the outside in multiple WR sets. I do agree however that his main job will be in the slot.

This is from a site that covers the Seahawks. You can read the entire article if you go to the link.

Prediction

There's no denying Goodwin hit it off with Smith, developing quick chemistry with the quarterback while becoming a reliable third receiving weapon in the intermediate passing game running routes from the slot and outside. He can still fly, presenting another matchup problem for defenses to worry about playing alongside Metcalf and Lockett. For those reasons alone, assuming the Seahawks re-sign Smith as expected, bringing back the savvy veteran wideout would make sense on multiple levels.

They show how fast you can get down the field to drop a ball?

I'm glad AB didn't fall for the 'healthy again' diva WR on the market.

As a back-end WR to round out the room, I actually like this signing.

We still need a true #1, but we're deeper and faster there now.

I think somebody realized we lacked a LOT of speed on the offensive side of the ball. With this signing along with Moore, If teams are Idiotic enough to stack the box on Chubb, they are gonna pay big time. I do not think we are done yet. I believe we will add another speed guy from the draft.

I was thinking more in terms of injury and how that might impact the season and some of our players. As an example if 2-3 of the starting O-linemen go down, Chubb might look more like Chump.

I said in a different thread I liked the idea of acquiring Goodwin - and that hasn't changed. I like Moore and Goodwin as additions. Sort of additions I feel that Berry could have done in other years and choose not to for whatever reason. Very solid moves that improve the team.

This is an article I saw about Goodwin. As much or more personal than football so I won't post the article but felt it may be something those who like to get the personal side of a players life would like to read and didn't know where else to post it.

Meet the Browns’ Marquise Goodwin: Olympian, star receiver, sprinter, tragedy-stricken father

I have to feel like we HATED our WR corps outside of Cooper/DPJ

We are in much better shape now

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."
