She said you have to prove your innocence. That implies the default state is you are guilty. The state has to prove your guilt, that leaves the default state as you are innocent. There is a fundamental difference between the two. Of course she knows better, the suggestion of this is Trump is guilty, regardless of the reality of it.

not even sure why you would try to defend her actions.

I don't care if you don't like getting called out for your brutish behavior. Don't like it.....stop acting like a bully and behave like a decent human being. Calling other people names is not acceptable behavior.

Oh, and somebody like you preaching decency and tolerance is laughable at best. You're a joke.

Perspective has a noticeable effect on perception. It seems that many people in this country look at issues from extremely polarized perspectives. Trying to look at issues from multiple perspectives doesn't get a lot of run here and seems to frequently be treated as an act of betrayal. This leads to the massive divides we continuously see.

Instead of trying to find a middle ground that can effectively function we seem to be hacking at democracy from opposite ends which could quite possibly ultimately end in a butchered (no longer existing) democracy.

It seems that as Americans everything is often seen through a lens of competition. Democracy doesn't really work as a competition. How do we change the perspective from competitive to trying to find opportunities for cooperation?

Sorry, but that's BS.

He did incite a riot and it was dangerous and destructive and there isn't any other way to view it. Trump needs held accountable for it and the Georgia thing and to a lesser extent, the NY thing. And we shouldn't forget the documents at Mar A Lago either.

There is no amount of spin that can change that. He did it, He pushed for a riot, and he should be held accountable.

As for NY, I don't know. I suspect that Bragg wouldn't bring charges unless he had a case. I don't believe Soros had a thing to do with it.

As for Georgia, like you and everyone else, I heard the phone call,,, he is guilty of attempting to tamper with the outcome of the election. There can be no question. But th at too needs to be heard in court and determined by the jury (if there is one).

And I would like to tell arch, Eve, and all the others who laughed when I told you he was a crook. You didn't believe me when I told you he would get impeached; he did twice. I told you he would cause bloodshed on Jan. 6th, and he did. And now, he will pay for his crimes; as I've said from the beginning, it would end badly for the country and Trump.

It seems like you completely ignored the first half of my second sentence, and your post seems to be a fitting illustration of the rest of my thoughts there.

You seem so focused on your side of the "conversation" that you're not "listening" to what I'm actually saying.

It seems to me that that inability/unwillingness to actually stop and "listen" without jumping to conclusions is a big part of this country's problems.

The purpose of my first two paragraphs was to comment on the tendency that people seem to sugarcoat riots when they agree with the underlying message or purpose. It doesn't make them any less riots. Still people don't seem to be very good at differentiating between the subjective and objective. People seem very unaware of the perspectives that they filter the world through.

We definitely seem to be a culture that has become incapable of conversation. We have two sides yelling at each other with their fingers in their ears, and anyone that tries to get in the middle to start a conversation is torn to pieces.

Agreed. On this particular board, it's the left that stifles conversation w/insults, labels, and misrepresentation. There are countless other places where the right is guilty of the same transgressions.

I think that while the extremists seem to get the majority of attention, but the majority of us are reasonable and fair. I believe that most of us want to get along and work cooperatively. We believe in doing the right thing and not just choose a side and put the blinders on. We just don't get a lot of attention. But, thank God that we are still around. We hold the nation together while the extremists on both sides try to rip it apart w/bias and hate.

Nice you tried to pull the old "double standard" argument that I have pointed out with you. Typical "I know you are but what am I" PitTrope.

Are you "speaking for everyone" again? And if you are, will you turn around and lie by claiming you didn't say that?

You may wish to mention that when a man who ran for president, became president, and is now a former president stokes the fires of discord, it's not everyone elses fault. I guess everyone else could just shut up about how he and other elected government officials stand up for him and mirror such sentiments but then when you are silent against evil you are complicité in it.

Let's not pretend there hasn't been a catalyst stoking this fire. And claiming people should let the fire die down while you have many elected officials pouring gasoline on it, blaming those talking about that rather than those who keep pouring gasoline on it seems to be focusing your attention in the wrong direction.

Yet you posted "speaking for everyone". There's nothing clear about that other than you claimed you were speaking for everyone. And you claim it's others who lie.

Did the refs edit those posts and now you are lying about it? Everyone who read this board yesterday knows you posted that. I actually quoted it later in the thread after you denied it. I see you have turned into lying again about what you posted. Not surprised.

I don't speak for the refs and I don't speak for everyone. You have used the phrase "everyone can see..." multiple times. That's a you phrase, not a me phrase. I have, several times, pointed out you don't speak for everyone. Maybe read what you are trying to argue about instead of just running off.

Kind of ironic you blaming your inability to show me what you think i said on refs. That might be the funniest thing you post all day.

You made an assertion. Prove it. Stop trying to pin your own nonsense on me. The reason you can't prove it is you just make stuff up to fight about. You lie, I've shown that several times now with direct quotes from you. Quit projecting your behavior on me. You are the issue, not me.

Show me the quote, you've lied enough about what I've said there is no way I'd take your word for it.

Likely you used your "only read the words you wish to read so you can fight tactic" and you are still fooling yourself.

As a retired person I have plenty of free time in my day. But it fills my heart to know that I have managed to help give you an avenue to fill that void in your life that has been missing. With all of this free time a successful corporate executive such as yourself has on their hands with nothing better to do, it's wonderful that I can give you an outlet to vent all of your pent up frustrations. For some being an internet troll is a goal which they wish to achieve. I'm glad I could help you achieve your goal.

You're welcome.

Greene and Santos appear in Manhattan ahead of Trump arraignment

Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and George Santos (R-N.Y.) appeared in Manhattan Tuesday in support of former President Donald Trump ahead of his expected arraignment.

Driving the news: The Georgia firebrand and close Trump ally told a crowd she had come to "protest this unprecedented abuse of our justice system and election interference," per NBC New York.

Pro-Trump and anti-Trump protesters gathered Tuesday nearby the Manhattan courthouse days after the former president's historic indictment, per NBC News.

Santos also made a brief appearance. The embattled Long Island Republican expressed support for Trump and criticized Democrat Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg, who convened a grand jury to investigate the president.
“It’s a bad day for democracy,” Santos said. “This starts a precedent that, what's to stop the next prosecutor?"

Video from the scene showed security and police struggling to escort Greene through the chaotic crowd. Other video showed Santos surrounded by media.

Even once Greene had entered a vehicle, some protesters continued to bang on the windows until the car pulled away, the New York Times reported.
The New York Young Republican Club had announced Greene would be joining them to "peacefully rally" in support of Trump.

Of note: Most Americans approve of the indictment of Trump — but a plurality also believes that politics played at least some role, recent polls show.

The big picture: While Trump's indictment has enticed some prominent Republicans to jump into the anti-Trump lane, the GOP has largely united around him.

And the usual suspects pay homage.

Just watched a video and read an article of Greene trying to speak in NY. The anti-Trump crowd drowned her out. I can't post the link due to the profanity, but this was from the Daily Mail in the UK. It was a hateful scene, w/shouts of Nazi B****, white trash, and "why are you obsessed with children's genitals?" Disturbing.

But the things she says are not disturbing? Interesting....

It seems you think some people should silence their voices so hers can be heard?

It seems voices should be heard only if they agree w/your viewpoints. I differ in that I feel that all sides should be permitted to speak at their rallies. It's also interesting on how you ignored the "white trash" comment. I know folks that find that label extremely offensive. I do love how you pick and choose when labels are offensive and when they are not depending on which side made them.

MTG wasn't holding a rally. She was pulling a publicity stunt. As far as i know there was no permit issued for a rally of any kind.

You see, I find it offensive that groups such as the Proud Boys, the KKK and white supremacist groups and anti semitic groups are permitted to hold rallies. But not only are they allowed, but they actually have the right to and do get permits to hold such rallies. And as much as it offends me, I stand for their right to have that ability. I also stand for the right for opposing groups to stand up against their rallies when they are held.

MTG had every right to be there and obviously she can say any hateful thing she wishes because she does and has. But those who oppose her and decide to shout and speak out against her hold those very same rights. I'm not the one who has decided to pick and choose who holds such rights and who doesn't.

You're welcome.

And there's the deflection. Not surprising, you can't be honest in anything. Deflect, lie, insult, repeat.

This is where you can tell me what I do, who I work for and what my schedule is. We will wait. Of course you will, again, deflect or lie.

You still misunderstand the phrase "you're welcome". Not surprising though, not even a little.

You will spin anything just to think you've won something. You've provided nothing, which is par.

So still can't prove to me you aren't lying. Some people might take the loss with grace, nit you though. Oh no, it's still someone else's fault you lie. Pathetic.
