I'll just add to the speculation about our off season moves and start this thread.

I have no idea what the list looks like for free agents this upcoming year but there is one FA I would like to see the Browns go after.....LT's backup in S.D....I think his name is turner....I have seen him on a few occassions this year and he looks like he is a strong runner who would be a Starter on 31 other NFL teams. I know someone will provide a list of FA's available this off season and would like to see what other Browns fans think.

Top Quarterbacks

Matt Schaub, RFA, Atlanta Falcons
The free agent quarterback class is light in 2007, but teams in true need of a field general may be highly interested in Schaub. He has an NFL arm and has shown flashes of possibly being a legitimate quality starting quarterback. It is likely that just a handful of teams would aggressively pursue Schaub, but if someone is willing to pay decent money and forfeit a draft pick for Schaub, he could be lured away from his spot behind Michael Vick. In the end, Schaub?s chances of re-signing with the Falcons don?t look good, as Schaub will pursue a bigger role in another offense.

Chris Simms, UFA, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The 2006 season went terribly awry for Simms. In 2005, he completed 61% of his passes and entered the current season determined to improve upon those efforts, but in just the third game of season against the Carolina Panthers, Simms was hit hard multiple times. After the game, Simms was taken to a hospital where surgeons performed a splenectomy, removing his spleen because of internal bleeding. If Simms is able to play the game again, and decides to strap on the helmet, his initial role could be greatly diminished because of health concerns.

Damon Huard, UFA, Kansas City Chiefs
Huard had fallen off the NFL map somewhat in recent seasons. After starting as the Miami Dolphins quarterback in the ?99 and ?00 seasons, he played in just four games and attempted only one pass from the ?01 season through the ?05 season. An early injury to Chiefs starter Trent Green changed Huard?s fate. Huard played in parts of nine games while Green was out, and in those nine games, he showed that he was a quite capable NFL quarterback. Huard posted a 97.6 quarterback rating with a 60.6% completion rate, and his 11 touchdown passes to just one interception had to have made an impression on someone. Huard may be asked to play second fiddle in a new town, but if he shows the same talent that he did in replacing Green, he could make a run at a starting position, if there?s a team looking to take a risk on a veteran.

Other Free Agent Quarterbacks

Rohan Davey, RFA, Arizona Cardinals
Shaun King, UFA, Indianapolis Colts
John Navarre, RFA, Arizona Cardinals
Tim Rattay, UFA, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Anthony Wright, UFA, Cincinnati Bengals

Top 2007 Free Agent RBs

Ahman Green, UFA, Green Bay Packers
Injuries and protecting the ball have been Green?s Achilles? heel. In 2003, Green rushed for over 1,800 yards. In 2004, his rushing total fell to under 1,200 yards. In 2005, he played in just five games and totaled 255 yards. He runs behind a suspect offensive line and takes a pounding, as do all of the Packers? backs. He fumbles more than his team would wish, and yet, a healthy Ahman Green is a pretty good Ahman Green. So far in 2006, he?s played in four games, finding the endzone just once on the ground. He?s rushed effectively in two games, and struggled in his other two efforts. The former Nebraska Cornhusker could be looking for work outside of Green Bay because of injuries, fumbles, and inconsistency. As a free agent running back who will be 30, Green will settle for a backup role with a team looking for insurance.

Michael Turner, RFA, San Diego Chargers
Turner takes a beating and keeps going. Turner isn?t well known to the general public, but the kid has talent. He gets a handful of carries behind Ladainian Tomlinson and has maximized those carries, averaging six yards per carry in his short career. If Turner continues to have success in his current role, it won?t be long before teams start thinking about making an offer come free agency. With his expanded role in San Diego this season, it shouldn?t surprise anyone to see Turner sign elsewhere, but the Chargers may look to keep their dangerous rushing combo together.

Chris Brown, UFA, Tennessee Titans
Brown might wind up back in Tennessee when all is said and done, but there could be interest from teams looking for a decent backup or desperate for a starter with some experience under his belt. A team might like to use Brown in a running back by committee scenario, if he has a good season as the main back with the Titans this season. His upright running style might make him an appealing change of pace back, and he did rush for over 1,000 yards in just 11 games during the 2004 season, but Brown?s health is a concern. In his three seasons, he?s never played in all 16 games.

Other Free Agent Running Backs
Correll Buckhalter, UFA, Philadelphia Eagles
Najeh Davenport, UFA, Pittsburgh Steelers
Nick Goings, UFA, Carolina Panthers
Maurice Hicks, RFA, San Francisco 49ers
Patrick Pass, UFA, New England Patriots
B.J. Sams, RFA, Baltimore Ravens
Marcel Shipp, UFA, Arizona Cardinals
Antowain Smith, UFA, Houston Texans

Top 2007 Free Agent WRs
By: Greg Davis
QB | RB | WR | OL | DL | LB | DB | K

Drew Bennett, UFA, Tennessee Titans
Bennett might not be considered a special wide receiver in NFL circles, but the UCLA product has great size and good hands as a second receiving option. An uncanny connection with quarterback Billy Volek in 2004 helped Bennett to 1,247 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns. With Vince Young being named the starter, it?s been up and down statistically, so Bennett could easily move on?to a team more ready to compete in the present. Several teams could use Bennett to compliment a smaller and faster receiver, and if used properly, Bennett can put up strong numbers once again.

Kevin Curtis, UFA, St. Louis Rams
It is likely that Curtis hangs around St. Louis. He?s being used more and more in the offense and Isaac Bruce and Torry Holt are only getting older. If Curtis leaves the Rams, it will be because he doesn?t feel utilized enough and another team wants his services with a nice pay check offer. The Rams may just work an extension and save the trouble of Curtis looking around in the off season, but if Curtis does hit the market, he?ll make a solid second wide receiver for a team willing to use his speed in the right way.

Patrick Crayton, RFA, Dallas Cowboys
Crayton benefits from the talent around him, but he?s also a solid option in the passing game. Terry Glenn missed the Cowboys week ten game, so Crayton filled in and caught five passes for 104 yards and a score. He?s posted more than 60 receiving yards in five games this season as the third-string wideout. His RFA status will make his move out of Dallas more unlikely, but with his potential, there will definitely be teams looking to bump him into the number two receiving slot.

Tony Gonzalez, UFA, Kansas City Chiefs
Gonzalez is the class of the NFL tight end position. He opened the door to the athletic receiving tight end, and helped usher in a new era at the position. Nowadays, the tight end position can be one that puts the defense on their heels on a regular basis. ?Gonzo?s? 2005 season was a solid one, but he found the endzone just twice, and overall the season was a letdown. He?s rebounded strongly, scoring five times so far this season and earning another Pro-Bowl selection. The Chiefs insist that they won?t let the tight end hit the market, but speculation is that the former college basketball player may look for a better chance at winning. A competitive team with money to spend may be able to entice Gonzalez, but otherwise, expect him to stay put.

TE Eric Johnson, UFA, San Francisco 49ers
The tight end free agent options are appealing. Johnson tops the list because it is almost absolute that he will be on his way out of San Francisco. The 49ers drafted Vernon Davis early in the first round, and Johnson won?t see the field once Davis proves he?s ready to start and play every down. Davis? freakish athletic ability will make that a quick process, so Johnson is going to be looking for a new place to play on Sundays. In 2005, Johnson caught 82 passes for 825 yards and a pair of touchdowns, so a team looking for a pass catching tight end will take a chance on Johnson in the hopes that he can repeat that production.

Marc Boerigter, UFA, Green Bay Packers
David Boston, UFA, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tyrone Calico, UFA, Tennessee Titans

Top 2007 Free Agent Offensive Linemen
By: Greg Davis
QB | RB | WR | OL | DL | LB | DB | K

Max Starks RFA Pittsburgh Steelers
Starks is a starting tackle for a Super Bowl champion. That?s enough in itself to get some teams a little excited about the prospects of acquiring him. The fact that Starks is young, talented, and massive in stature?listed at 6?8?, 337 lbs.?just adds to the excitement pile. Another lineman that shouldn?t be going anywhere as the Steelers will not let Starks go without a fight. The best bet is that Starks will decide he wants to stay in Pittsburgh and sign an extension. If he hits the market, there will be a team or two willing to pay a big amount to entice the tackle to relocate.

Leonard Davis UFA Arizona Cardinals
Davis is a massive tackle that the Cardinals can?t afford to lose to free agency, but it seems likely that they will. The Arizona offensive line is already suspect, and losing Davis would be a huge step in the wrong direction, but the team may have to let him go and find a replacement. Davis has shown the ability to simply be a wall of protection for his quarterback and while teams might not line up for the chance to sign him, anyone looking for a tackle will have him high on the list.

Mike Gandy, UFA, Buffalo Bills
A relatively young starting left tackle, Gandy had been blocking for Willis McGahee over the past two seasons, and this season could go a long way in making Gandy an appealing free agent. He has talent, but isn?t considered among the league?s best linemen. However, a decent starting left tackle doesn?t just drop from the sky, so expect him to garner interest from a handful of teams, if Buffalo doesn?t re-sign him before the market opens.

Other Free Agent Offensive Linemen
Eric Steinbach, UFA, Bengals
Jordan Black, UFA, Kansas City Chiefs
Dwayne Carswell, UFA, Denver Broncos
Derrick Dockery, UFA, Washington Redskins
Nat Dorsey, RFA, Cleveland Browns
Chris Gray, UFA, Seattle Seahawks
Norm Katnik, RFA, New York Jets
Ryan Lilja, RFA, Indianapolis Colts
Sean Locklear, RFA, Seattle Seahawks
Roman Oben, UFA, San Diego Chargers
Brian Rimpf, RFA, Baltimore Ravens
Eric Steinbach, UFA, Cincinnati Bengals
Todd Steussie, UFA, St. Louis Rams
Floyd Womack, UFA, Seattle Seahawks
Kris Dielman, UFA, San Diego
Damion McIntosh, UFA, Miami Dolphins

Top 2007 Free Agent DL
By: Greg Davis
QB | RB | WR | OL | DL | LB | DB | K

Dwight Freeney, UFA, Indianapolis Colts
Freeney originally signed for seven years in 2002, but having reached certain incentive levels in his contract has voided the final two seasons, making him a free agent at the end of this season. Freeney has posted double-digit sack totals in each of his four seasons coming into 2006, and has forced 23 fumbles in that time. He?s one of the top pass rushers around. He plays with an incredible motor, but he has been hampered by an injury this season, limiting him to just five tackles and no sacks. Yet, with some of the best speed at his position, many teams will be lining up for a shot at a player that can apply pressure on the quarterback quite often.

Jared Allen, RFA, Kansas City Chiefs
Perhaps the top defensive lineman that will see the market, Allen, has posted totals of 9 and 11 in the sack department in the two seasons prior to 2006, and he?s added 3 more this season. The Chiefs will do everything in their power to keep him, but teams on the outside looking in could see Allen as a free agent must. He?s young, plays with a big motor, and puts pressure on the quarterback often, evidenced by his 7 forced fumbles last season. Teams will line up for the type of player that Allen is, and being an RFA doesn?t change that much. Allen makes the list because of his talent, but it?s difficult to imagine that the Chiefs would allow him to slip away on the market. Expect the Chiefs to negotiate a contract extension or possibly use the franchise tag if Allen has another great season.

Vonnie Holliday, UFA, Miami Dolphins
He?s been an effective defensive tackle throughout his career, and when Holliday hits the market, his experience, talent, and size will make him a desirable option for teams that need defensive interior run support. Miami won?t want to lose him, as they have a collection of veteran players who could help make a Super Bowl push in the next few seasons, but Holliday can command a decent dollar amount if he seeks a new employer. Don?t be surprised to see the Dolphins re-sign him before free agency.

Terdell Sands UFA Oakland Raiders
The defensive tackle entered his fifth NFL season without much fanfare. He was stuck behind other players, and hadn?t been thought of as an impact player by most. However, the former Chattanooga player has shined when given the opportunity. One reason that Sands has been effective is his size. Standing 6?7? and weighing 335 pounds, Sands is enormous, and difficult to take out of a play. His height allows him to bat down passes if he cannot get penetration, and he has developed a decent awareness of where the ball is. In non-starter minutes, he?s still just two tackles away from his career season high, and he is earning more and more time each week. The Raider will be well-served to sign him to an extension, but Sands might look elsewhere if Oakland won?t guarantee him more playing time.

Justin Smith, UFA, Bengals
The Bengals 2001 first round pick, Smith has shown improvement over time and become a significant threat to the opposition?s quarterback. Smith has tallied 40.5 career sacks up to this point, and already has 6.5 in the current season, a pace that would make for a career best. Smith has also been a consistent tackler with more than 54 total tackles each season of his career. Smith is a big and quick pass-rusher, and he will command a good deal of attention on the market, and he should make a good deal of money.

Other Free Agent Defensive Lineman
Edward Jasper, UFA, Philadelphia Eagles
Chad Lavalais, RFA, Atlanta Falcons
Cory Redding, UFA, Detroit Lions
Hollis Thomas, UFA, New Orleans Saints
Robaire Smith, UFA, Tennessee Titans
Bryan Thomas, UFA, New York Jets
Michael Myers, UFA, Denver Broncos

Top 2007 Free Agent LB
By: Greg Davis
QB | RB | WR | OL | DL | LB | DB | K

Lance Briggs, UFA, Chicago Bears
Briggs benefits from having Brian Urlacher as a teammate, but that?s no reason to doubt that Briggs is a really good linebacker in his own right. He may be the most sought after linebacker in this free agent class, and the Bears will have difficulty in retaining all of the defensive talent they have in the next few seasons if they wish to spend more money on offensive help and re-sign other current players. The Bears could slap the franchise tag on Briggs to keep him around, but if they don?t, expect him to be leaving the Windy City and taking up residence for a new team that will try and feature him on defense. Teams needing a tough linebacker to plug holes and make tackles will put Briggs high on their list. Given the Bears history in this type of matter, it?s likely that Briggs will find a new place to punish offenses?but it will be very hard to let him go, so don?t be surprised to see him hang around in Chicago.

Na'il Diggs, UFA, Carolina Panthers
Diggs has been a steady linebacker for the Green Bay Packers since his second season in the league. Injuries forced him to miss seven games last season and he now has just a single season to prove to the Panthers that he deserves a larger contract. Diggs, while steady, isn?t necessity for Carolina, so expect to see him hit the market in the hopes that someone appreciates what he does on the field, maybe even over-appreciates what he does on the field. However, with the loss of Dan Morgan for the season, and perhaps longer, Diggs has a real chance to step up. Staying healthy will be the first step towards a successful contract year, and if he can perform like he did in Green Bay, a handful of teams should be interested in bringing Diggs into the fold. Anyone looking for a veteran linebacker to make some tackles and hold his own will show an interest.

Cato June, UFA, Indianapolis Colts
Recent legal trouble could hurt his stock, but June was a first time starter in the Pro Bowl this past season. He?s relatively young and a tackling machine, so it?s likely that the Colts will do what they can to retain his talents. There?s good chance that June hits the market, though, to see what other organizations have to offer him financially; the Colts inability to reach the Super Bowl may also factor into a decision to leave. June?s not an overpowering player, so a team interested in him will be looking at utilizing his speed as a top priority, in the same way that the Colts have done. June will be the most sought after linebacker on the market, and perhaps the most sought after defensive player.

Adalius Thomas, UFA, Baltimore Ravens
It could be difficult to keep Thomas around because of his emerging status as one of the better linebackers in the NFL. Last season, with Ray Lewis lost to an injury for ten games, Thomas shined for the Ravens defensive unit. Credited with 86 total tackles, nine sacks, and a returned touchdown on one of his two interceptions, he boosted his free agent potential and he could be one of the top two or three pursued players if he has a successful ?06 campaign. Someone will throw big dollars his way, which means he could be lured away from Baltimore.

London Fletcher UFA Buffalo Bills
Fletcher is good, plain and simple. He?ll be 32 heading into next season, but he?s still producing with 56 total tackles credited to him so far this season along with a pair of sacks. Fletcher hasn?t missed a game in his career, and he?s also tallied 119 total tackles or more in every season since 2000. If the Bills don?t get him to sign an extension, expect Fletcher to garner attention from several teams looking for a veteran presence that can make things happen on the field. Wherever Fletcher ends up, he?ll be brought in to act as a defensive leader and to make big plays. Ultimately, he could be the cream of the crop in terms of available linebackers.

Other Free Agent Linebackers
Chase Blackburn, ERFA, New York Giants
Chad Brown, UFA, Pittsburgh Steelers
James Darling, UFA, Arizona Cardinals
Randall Godfrey, UFA, San Diego Chargers
Kawika Mitchell, UFA, Kansas City Chiefs
Rob Morris, UFA, Indianapolis Colts

Top 2007 Free Agent DB
By: Greg Davis
QB | RB | WR | OL | DL | LB | DB | K

Nate Clements, UFA, Buffalo Bills
Clements should be the top target of teams looking for help in the secondary. He?s young, highly regarded, and very talented. Buffalo would like nothing more than to have him signed to an extension as quickly as possible, but his talent?he does have two Pro Bowl selections?may lead him to test the market. Without an extension, the Bills must decide if they are willing to franchise tag Clements once again to guarantee his presence on the gridiron for one more season. Since Clements has not been adversely affected by NFL officiating changes, most NFL teams will pursue the cornerback if he hits the market.

Asante Samuel UFA New England Patriots
Samuel has shown growth over the course of his three-plus years of experience, and at only 25 years of age, he?ll be a hot commodity. If the Patriots don?t sign him to an extension, suitors will be lining up to try and acquire the talented cornerback. His coverage skills have developed and some are even talking about a possible Pro Bowl invite. This season is quickly becoming a breakout year, and it could lead to a nice payday for Samuel, which doesn?t bode well for the Patriots; but, expect the Patriots to try hard to lock up the UCF product with an extension.

Ken Hamlin, UFA, Seattle Seahawks
Hamlin is a talented safety with the potential to get even better. After an injury caused him to miss ten games last season, Hamlin has rebounded mightily this season with 70 total tackles, three interceptions, and a pair of sacks. Hamlin is on pace to equal his interception high, and his two sacks are tied with his career high. The athletic defensive back could be a valuable asset to most teams, and the Seahawks will work hard to re-sign him.

Other Free Agent Cornerbacks
Roc Alexander, RFA, Denver Broncos
Jordan Babineaux, RFA, Seattle Seahawks
Jason David, RFA, Indianapolis Colts
Randall Gay, RFA, New England Patriots
Nick Harper, UFA, Indianapolis Colts
David Macklin, UFA, Arizona Cardinals

Other Free Agent Safety
Tyrone Carter, UFA, Pittsburgh Steelers
Deon Grant, UFA, Jacksonville Jaguars
Michael Lewis, UFA, Philadelphia Eagles
Donnie Nickey, UFA, Tennessee Titans
Tony Parrish, UFA, San Francisco 49ers
Ernest Shazor, ERFA, Arizona Cardinals
B.J. Ward, RFA, Baltimore Ravens
Gibril Wilson, RFA, New York Giants
Michael Lewis, UFA, Philadelphia Eagles

Top 2007 Free Agent Kickers
By: Greg Davis
QB | RB | WR | OL | DL | LB | DB | K

Josh Brown, UFA, Seattle Seahawks
Brown is probably the best kicker on the market next off season, so he gets a mention. Team?s looking for a proven leg will make an offer, but I don?t see Brown going anywhere.

Other Free Agent Kickers

Rian Lindell, UFA, Buffalo Bills
Josh Scobee, RFA, Jacksonville Jaguars
Lawrence Tynes, RFA, Kansas City Chiefs

Other Free Agent Punters

Michael Koenen, ERFA, Atlanta Falcons
Matt Turk, UFA, St. Louis Rams

If we could somehow sign him Savage just may be able to make some nice moves on draft day.

Work ethic is the knock again i believe. The brains trust on the board have discussed pro's and con's of Davis on other threads. IIRC Eotab has sang his praises in recent times, apologies in advance if i'm mistaken. <img src="/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

Does anyone else concur with me that we need to look for another RB to go with this line we are going to build? I have no faith in RD anymore as our featured runner. He seems to lack passion, instincts, and heart.

I think you will find lots of people agree however what I see is we just signed RD to a pretty good sized contract. We have Wright and Harrision. Smith and Vickers. If you get another be it via draft or FA you need to get rid of probably Smith and either Wright (who I thought showed some decent skill) or Harrision (who I didnt see enough of to have any idea on what his skill set is)

So that leaves me with the RB/FB position in the same vote as the WR/TE position. Its not an area of extream need atm and we have many more pressing areas of need that need to be addressed this year.

Hi Autumn, <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> Well I will say that I agree with you and the many others who have said that Turner would be a good pickup at RB for us. Also want to point out that not only is Michael Turner a RFA but so is Cincy RB Chris Perry and he's got good speed and moves. Though I don't think Cincy would deal him to us or anybody for that matter.

However, I don't think RB is a priorty need until we get the OL fixed but if we could make a good deal and not give up too much for Turner then I'm all for it. If we already had a OL built solid then I would say draft Peterson but we don't so I'm totally against that pick.

I think OL and DL are the priorty needs, then CB is another need. I'd like to see us sign either Nate Clements or Asante Samuels to play opposite of Bodden and I think our secondary would be very strong. I also think another LB wouldn't be bad.

Now IF we wanted another starting QB in Cleveland then I'd go after Matt Schaub, the few times I've seen him he's looked poised, accurate, and has the NFL arm to be a solid starter. However, I think Frye will get; and maybe he deserves, another season to start behind a solid OL before we can say he is or is not the QB for us. Now the trick for Phil, RAC, and the Browns in general is to put a solid OL on the field.

Also I'm almost ready to ask the FO to ship B.E. out and replace him with someone who can stay quiet, focus on play, run routes and most of all catch the damn ball. However I guess we're stuck with him for a couple of seasons more due to the contract he got. I never thought he had the talent deserving of a No. 3 pick overall.

I just hope we get to see more of Cribbs and Wilson at WR. Who knows, maybe B.E. will grow up and learn his craft, I really hope so but I won't hold my breathe.

Also I'd like to see what Sowells can do as we really, really need all the OL help we can get. OK, nuff said for now!

I will say that I'm one of the people that originally wanted Bigg..

DnD's idea of getting Bigg Leonard and plugging him at RT is growing on me by the minute.

Some of the guys i'd like to see us go after are QB D.Huard, OG K.Dielman (Ohio boy), OLB A.Thomas and CB A.Samuel.
I'd like to see us get Huard and let him start until we get a legitimate young QB to develop.

"we should consider Terdell Sands of the raiders"

Wow !! This guy should sue his momma for that first name...wonder if she called him a "little fart" growing up?

I'm right there with you on signing Turner, but are we going to be willing to part with a 1st or 2nd round draft choice for him? He's restricted & I wouldn't be surprised to see the Bolts' slap some kind of tag on him. The 2008 draft looks VERY deep at the RB position.

I'd LOVE to see them snag two guards (Dockery & Dielman (?)..since Manuwai resigned) and two D-Linemen (Sands to play nose & Cory Redding), maybe Asante Samuel too in free agency. Then draft a tackle & a center (insurance for Bentley). Don't blow the whole enchilada on guys like Steinbach, Clements & Adalius Thomas when you can get 5-6 starters. Especially with the Browns luck..one of the three mentioned (Thomas/Steinbach/Clements) probably blows out their knee AFTER we give them a boatload of cash! I'd rather spread it out to lessen the odds of losing players to career ending injuries. I know that's pessimistic, but it seems to be the recent trend.

While talkin FA.. Lets bear in mind the numbers. We are a coupla large short of 34 million. I believe there are 3 - 4 teams ahead of us with more cabbage.

I know and I would think we are going to try to resign at least one player on the current roster (Fraley?). Any combination of the players I mentioned I'd be fine with. Doesn't have to be all of them, but I think those guys will be more affordable than a Steinbach or Clements.

and the cap jumps $7 million this year, so ALL teams have money. Teams will also try to get guys re-signed before this year ends to absorb one year of cap hit in the last few weeks of this season.

The only top tier guys I would expect to see available will be the guys looking for the mega-huge paycheck. Everyone else will be re-signed by their teams or 2nd tier and below.... and we have enough of them types already. Expect to significantly overpay for quality because it's going to be a seller's market.

Think I would go in a different direction ( as of now , reserve right to change mind in March ) .. Would like to stay out of a " BIG " bidding war !

Two guys that jump out at me , start and make great improvement in the " D " are Nate Clements & Adalius Thomas .. We are desperate need at DB. today and Thomas at LB. would make that one Bad Ass unit with depth ( think three/four )

I want to " Draft Linemen " on both sides of the ball .. I don't want to hear about Pretty boy picks this season ; I don't care who is out there... WR. QB. RB.

I know this would be pretty controversial but I would like to see Phil go after Max Starks from Pitt. I think he is very underrated and has made steady improvement. His pass blocking isnt great but its decent and improving. His run blocking is very good. I think he really has a lot of upside.

Terdell Sands is a must. I think the kid is a beast just waiting to be unleashed. He is one of the best run stuffers in the game. Doesnt put up the great stats so he isnt the household name but the kid can play and he doesnt get pushed around. He is a big reason why Sapp is having such a great year.

Nate Clements I think we have a serious chance to land this kid. Clements, Bodden, Jones and Russell. Move Holly to the nickel. Thats about as good of a secondary as you would find. This one would be very expensive but money well spent.

Controversial..how so?
A solid offensive linemen?
Weaken a divison opponent...
Only issue would be cost..

Kris Dielman is a converted DL that is playing LG for the Chargers and is getting rave reviews from Marty.

I am a bit surprized that he has not been re-signed. The Chargers have locked up most of their talent.

He would be an excellent addition to the cleveland OL.

Welcome back, Joe, we missed you!

The only two Free Agents I could see us getting is:

Nate Clements ( Maybe he wants to come home like Joe J./ Bentley)
T. Sands ( Really isn't considered more than a run stuffer)

Solely a high 4 pick from the LT spot...And he's here to stay for awhile... <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Can he be any worse than Druzzi/Friedman???...lol

And he keeps the seat warm for this years Ramirez/Beekman in 3 or 4...hehehe...

There's a method to this Dawgs madness... <img src="/images/graemlins/naughtydevil.gif" alt="" />

yes he can. dorsey is . <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
the only reason i question that is, by already inking him in that spot, you've already determined we don't need to fill it in the draft/FA. let's sign someone for that spot and see what comes outa TC.

That was my thinking, Sowells can not be any worse than what we have got now. The fact that both his knees still work makes him better than JA.

BUT.....Since Sowells is a problem for some people, lets take Dawg in Dayton's all OL all the time plan and take it a step further. Sign Davis, move Shaffer, draft Thomas, and then draft OG Blaylock from Texas in the 2nd (if he's there).

And we can worry about stopping the run and getting a pass rush in 2008, hehe. <img src="/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

the only problem is nobody has seen him play yet.

[color:"white"] Sign Davis, move Shaffer, draft Thomas, and then draft OG Blaylock

that's more to my thinking. sign two-draft one or draft two sign one. the line as i see it has two keepers on it (starters). that is shaffer and fraley. andruzzi and CC is almost a unanimous vote to dump and i'm not liking what i've seen in tucker over the last coupla seasons and his mysterious illness has me concerned even more.

[color:"white"] we can worry about stopping the run and getting a pass rush in 2008

we can still do that this year also. there's a ton of money to spend this year, and we can take care of both sides of the ball not even mentioning the draft.

There's a few interesting names in there on the OL that I'd like seen brought in, as well as Clements and Samuel at corner. There's also a couple nice LBers in there, but I think we're actually pretty set there. Wimbley, Davis, Jackson and McGinest is a very solid set. Through in some potential with Leon and we have arguably the best position on our team with them.
