Well, personally, I would prefer he stay in Cleveland. I would keep him playing till he proves he's not the one.

But in keeping with the spirit of the thread, Here's what I see out there.

AFC East

NE - Brady

Buf - JP Loser and Trent Edwards. Edwards seems like he's doing pretty well. I think they stick with him.

NYJ - Pennington (sucks) and a relatively unknown. They "might" be interested.

Miami - Beck sucks and they know it. He's not the answer. They don't draft well, and I've read at least one article down here that says they should look at DA this offseason.

AFC North

I don't see them trading in our division.

AFC South

Indy - Peyton

Hou - Schaub who they overpaid for last season. I don't see them doing anything this year.

Jax - Garrard is doing pretty good down there if he can stay healthy.

Tenn - Vince Young isn't going anywhere soon.

AFC West

Oak - they have a #1 already waiting

KC - They might be interested, but probably wont be. Although it might be a good fit for DA with LJ running the rock. But they need to shore up the defense first. I don't see them trading draft choices this year.

SD - They have Rivers. For good or bad, they are sticking with him.

Den - Personally, I think they "should" be looking. But won't.

NFC East

NYG - Manning isn't doing as great as some hoped. But they won't give up yet.

Phil - Here is a good team that may be interested in moving Donovan this year and could be looking for his young replacement. It would not surprise me to see them start talking.

Wash - They got a pretty good young guy there.

Dal - Romo is the NFL golden boy this year.

NFC South

Tampa Bay - They will be talking. They always are. I doubt anything will come of it, but they will at least show interest.

Car - They are in love with Delhomme. I don't see them in the mix

N.O. - Nope, they like what they have.

ATL - Now here is a team that could use him. Truely. But they have A LOT of holes to fill. I doubt they will want to part with a high draft pick, I actually see them trading down to aquire more picks.

NFC North

GB - Iron man + Rogers

Det - Kitna is gonna be on a very short leash and I think they could definately be looking for a new guy to take over on short notice. They could very easily be trading with us.

Minn - They like Jackson too much.

Chi - Rex is out. I don't see him starting again there. And Griese isn't the answer. They have some solid defenders that are looking promising. Very easily could be trying to aquire him.

NFC West

Sea - Hmm. At first I said no. But the more I think about it, Hasselbeck isn't getting younger. And DA does have some traits that Holmgren likes. This could be a possibility.

SF - They have not given up on Alex yet.

Ari - They have Leinart. Who noone likes. But they have a ton invested in him. Not sure if they have given up on him yet or not.

STL - They "should" be talking, but they just extended Bulger IIRC.

Finally a topic I can get down with.

I don't want any players in the deal.

Just draft picks.

NO PLAYERS!

I think you undervalue him.

Results are results, and despite what some think, DA is young and at the age where it isn't impossible to project continued growth.

You add the two together and it adds up, to me anyway, to more than a first round pick. Heck, a first and third isn't good enough.

Lot's of teams in need of a qb would trade a first rounder for a fairly proven, young qb rather than take a flyer on a kid out of college. You are kidding yourself if you think differently.

Schaub wasn't nearly as proven as DA.

A first and a third is nothing....you are basically giving up a third rounder for a starting qb(the first counts as the player).

DA is worth a premium, and a third is a small premium IMO.

I would rather keep him if that is all we can get. Sign him long term and then look to deal him or BQ a year down the road.

BQ fits the mold of Schaub closer than does DA.

DA probably goes nowhere... Sorry.

Oh that wasn't playing very nice in the sand box was it...

Too many teams need QB to know where DA could end up...

Da-Bears, Dirty Birds, Fins, Panthers, 9er's, Chiefs, Rats, Vikes, Jets, Philly if ,when they send DM packing, T-raiders, Bills... They all can use significant upgrades @ QB

Mourg, I live down here and I can tell you that the fans and the local media LOVE Delhomme. As for the coaches,.......I can't say, but hell, the coaches may NOT be here next yr. anyway. There is no way right now that the Panthers give up a 1st and 3rd for DA with Delhomme waiting to come back from injury. Now if his injury is more serious than is reported..........that could change the story.

BpG, I want draft picks also, but I would strongly consider Briggs and a 3rd.

thats right .. STUNNED .... UNfortunatly for us there may not be any GM's as shortsighted as most of the dolts on the board that way OVERVALUE DA's worth .... they will UNfortunatly look beyond the # of TD pases and see an inncaurrate, inconsistent poor decision making QB playing behind possibly the best pass blocking OL in football with GREAT WEAPONS that ate making outstanding catches with a GREAT GAME PLAN against a WEAK SCHEDULE and therefore I will be STUNNED if we get a 1st rnd pick for DA ..

Diam... Usually I find myself agreeing with almot all that you post on here but I think you are being WAY to pessimitic abotu DA's value...

I saw several people already state their disagreements and reasoning but I have to honestly say that I do not see where you are coming from and for the record, I agree with DA's shortcomings and see the holes in his game WEEKLY...

Simply put, the man is on pace to break almost EVERY team record this year, he is young and has a cannon for an arm but the one thing that NO ONE has mentioned about DA in this thread is his poise... Yes he ha a tendacy lately to come out of the gates looked like a bag of squashed ass however, he THRIVES when the game is on the line and it is within his grasp... Granted, he has put us in that situation to begin with by turnovers and other such things but the fact remains, he does not fold in crunch time...

I am by no means a DA hugger although I appreciate what he has done for this team... And for the record, NO way in Hell does Frye have us to this point if he were still here... DA deserves his credit for where we are.... He is still very very raw with his footwork, field vision and some decision making but despite all of that, he is also 24 years old and has TALENT that just cannot be taught...

Some team WILL be willing to move us some pics to get him... I do not think it will be a top 10 pick but I think that somewhere between 11-20 isn't out of the realm of possibility...

Now to the spirit of the thread...

I have been saying for a WHILE now to anyone that will listen that I see Carolina taking him... Let's not forget that Jeff Davidson is the OC there now and if he is still around next season, he already is familiar with DA...

Someone brought up Detroit and how well DA would do in the Martz system... I NEVER even thought of that prior to this thread but I have to say that I would be willing to bet that they would seriously be considering it... The man would put up MONSTER numbers for them in that offense...

Wish we had a decent defense as I would prefer to keep both DA and Quinn and let the best man win next year in TC rather than trade him away... How many teams have 2 Capable/Quality QB's?

If u don't get it now .. U aint gonna get it with one more post ..

just go enjoy yourself and have fun with the rest of the dolts ..,,,

as usual time will tell ... and i would LOVE to be wrong .. but i'm not .. and UNFORTUNATELY we'll all find out ....

Detroit with Martz's O is possibly the worst fit for DA that U can imagine .. it requires QUICK READS and SNAP DECISIONS .. and arm strenght means next to nuttin in that O ... HORRIBLE HORRIBLE FIT ... and they all ready have their man ..

U guys way OVERVALUE DA'S worth ... U also way OVERVALUE how many teams will be truely interested in him .... its going to end up being a VERY VERY SMALL list .. possibly only one team ... hes just not that good ..

Have Fun bro .... tell Peenie and the rest of the dolts I said .. WOOF WOOF WOOF ....

Diam, Nobody knows for sure who is the better QB. I would like to know a little more before we dump DA. I'm sure you will guarantee BQ. But for me , lets keep them both until one has outshown the other.

Nobody may know for sure but one thing is for certain, DA has SEVERAL flaws and is benefiting from a GREAT supporting cast.... It isn't the name on the jersey that gives me pause when I support the idea of trading him away for compensation... It is the fact that he leaves so much on the field and his success is tied into a mixture of the talent of his arm, O-Line, WR and TE and a top 10 Running game not to mention the easiest schedule in the NFL...

Sorry to all of the DA lovers but this is a fluke season from him and as I am enjoying the ride like everyone else, I also know that next season is crucial to us going further along as a team... Cannot do that with so many holes on the opposite side of the ball and if we can get some picks that will help us in that area and actually improve the QB position at the same time than I am all for it...

And Diam, I would be FLOORED if there wasn't one or more teams willing to pony up the "buy in" to snag him... Been wrong before but at the end of the day, the players still have to execute and DA has overachieved in every facet of that statement... Sell at peak value!

And Peenie, I am amazed that you and a few others think we need to keep him around without shopping him off!!

just clicking...I have to say Diam is 100% right on this one.

You really truly have to look past the stats to see it. I think it's great he's on pace for all these numbers. I'm thrilled as hell about it. I'm happy for him and the team. We would not be having the season we are without him. If he gets moved in the offseason, I will wish him all the best, and probably follow him the rest of his career.

But it is SHORT-SIGHTED thinking to believe he is the answer just because he is on pace for these big numbers. I don't think he has the 'IT' factor. I think he has a good team and a weak schedule. I like how he has been poised at the end of games. If he were more poised in the beginning, we probably wouldn't need any heroics.

Bottom line is he is the leverage we needed to really improve this team this offseason. He was like an early Christmas present for Savage. No way Quinn does worse than DA. I just can't see it. So all things being equal, we use DA to improve the team.

It's really as simple as that.

I don't see Anderson going to Detroit. The just dropped a 2nd round pick on Drew Stanton from MSU.

Chicago or Baltimore would be my guess.

The other team I think might be Chicago but DA might not be a big enough splash for the Bears. They may be thinking more about Mcnabb.

As a Dawg in Chicago, I can tell you he's definitely on their radar.

I've run in to plenty of Bears fans who have said they'd love to take him off our hands.

There was also a write-up in the Chicago Tribune about why the Bears should make a serious attempt at trying to acquire him in the off-season. The explanation was the Bears have a ton of expendable talent on defense, something the Browns really need/may be interested in.

Don't know if the front office has bounced the idea around but the fan base and media have both acknowledged it. McNabb is a bigger name but he seems to be damaged goods at this point.

but so far the bears have made some questionable moves everywhere. i don't think they will do the "right' thing. You are in chi-town, the fans may want him, what's the take on bears ownership on this?

Diam,

Your a bit toxic on this... IMO and from what I read here... You know where I stand on DA and always have...

Weather you want to see it, accept it, realize it or admit it, Da is producing and putting up #'s with a rebuilt O-Line with talent this time, a new O cord and ageing yet very effective RB, a young 2nd year blossoming FB and a still developing group of WR's except JJ and an finally emerging TE... When you take a real close look at this group overall and compare it to the top 10 teams man to man, should they really be having the type of success they are? Probably not, but they are and like it or not the speed of the team is the speed of the boss and/or leader...

Numbers are the numbers... They are impressive... So is what DA has done and hasn't done that doesn't show up in the numbers... DA reads have been improving game by game... He has and probably always will have completion % challenges. He has a solid to very good arm, is moblie, poised, pretty tough and has the confidence and arrogance needed to make throws he shouldn't, but can. He is leading the right way, by example and so far has been humble and hungry... Which is beyond refreashing in todays society...

Name one of the other top 10 QB's in the NFL that don't consistantly have plenty of time to throw? Keep in mind that the Browns 0-Line is average to above average when you look at actual production and the numbers... I am so anxious to see the right side come together like the left is... Wow, will that be a blast to watch...

Many people here who do over value DA's worth... But when you look at actual market value over the past few years, for any QB with the production DA has so far, they are not too far off... And when you look at those same numbers and your stance of this issue, you are just as off as they are...

We are all entitled to our opinions... Our opinions don't always equate to actuality, fact/s or reality... We shall see... Lets' enjoy the ride as long as it lasts... Even the mention of the phrases winning record and playoff bound are amazing blessings.

Take care my Brother and Merry Christmas and Happy New Years to your and yours. Peace be with you.

I'm guessing this will never end... when we had a lousy line, the QB's we had all sucked... Now we have a damn near perfect line,,,, and the QB isn't that good, but looks that way because the line is so good..

It never ceases to amaze me that we can't all seem to agree on anything.

I'm sure that we can agree on this,, the line we now have is the best we've had in probably 20 years or so!

I'm sure that we can all agree that our receivers (JJ, BE and KW) are as good as we've had in the last 20 years or so!

Statistically, It's hard to deny that DA is currently performing as well as or better than most other QB's we've had in the last 20 years or so!

Now here's that last and final thing I am sure we can all agree on... DA has flaws in his game! You would have to be blind not to see them. But he also as other attributes that make him valuable... You would have to be in total denial not to see that also.

Oh,, and dispite the hype (which I actually believe by the way) Quinn is an UNKNOWN in the NFL!

Predicting him to be a Superstar is fine and all, and my guess is that he will be. But if your the GM of the browns,, do you bet your career on it?

I wouldn't do that.. I'd make damn sure he's for real before I let a guy go that is about to break a bunch of franchise records.. and it doesn't matter why he's breaking them... he's doing it. Period!

Green Bay? They have Favre and Rogers is waiting in the wings. They would be one of the least interested team I would think.

Fast forward to next season. A much tougher schedule. A whole year's worth of Browns game film to study. And we aren't sneaking up on anybody.

Now I ask anyone who has watched every single snap DA has taken this season if they feel comfortable with him at the helm under that scenario.

I don't.

What I would feel comfortable with is a training camp competition between him and Quinn if we didn't need the help we do in other areas of this team.

DA is the leverage we need. We should feel lucky we have him and Quinn. That probably puts us a couple of years ahead of schedule.

He's playing just well enough and putting up the numbers that he will get some interest, and we'll be able to pull the trigger on trade or get extra picks.

That is the best scenario for the Browns.

I'm with ya there.

I just wonder what we do in the offseason if we keep DA, do we pull what the Bengals did with Palmer/Kitna or do we make Quinn earn it? Knowing Romeo, we make him earn it, and I have no problem with that despite the growls we're going to hear along the lines of "Oh noez! Not another QB competiti0n!!!!!!!"

I find it funny whenever I turn on the radio or Browns talk shows on TV how they say "NO MORE TALK ABOUT QUINN! JUST ENJOY THE RIDE." The talking heads seem almost annoyed about answering the Quinn question, and I don't blame them cuz it seems like it comes up 5 times every show, but still...

Believe me, I am enjoying the ride...but why not ask the most serious question of all going into this offseason?

I may be looking at playoffs right now but I still have the offseason to do list in the front and back of my head...it's just proper, intellectual, BIG PICTURE analysis of a football team and I don't understand why the talking heads don't seem to grasp that concept that some fans want to look at the big picture scenario rather than the right now scenario, even though we're enjoying right now at the same time? *comes up for air*

Going into next year I have a "step back only to take a giant leap forward the year after" scenario in my head a la the 04-06 Chargers...went 12-4 in '04, 9-7 with a tougher schedule in '05 despite having more young talent, only to take the league by storm in '06.

Of course, I can't fully judge that without FA and the draft to work itself out, for all we know the AFC South and NFC East may be having to rebuild some of its teams.

I was originally all for the "Trade DA for a 1st and 3rd" idea, but knowing just how bad we'd be without DA this year (face it, Romeo would be gone by now, Quinn would be playing after the bye and we'd be 5-8 AT BEST rather than 8-5, with at least 3 of those 5 wins coming after the bye), I almost don't wanna take the risk, even though I love everything I've seen out of Quinn to this point. I just wish I knew more about how he's doing in practice...

I KNOW DA's limitations, I've thrown the Browns "bad call brick" a bunch of times over his bad throws or bad decisions...but I also know how much worse we'd be if we didn't have someone whose even average right now. I know how his rocket arm threads the needle through those questionable decisions, I know how that gives our receivers the chance to make plays.

Basically, he's a starter in this league. He's not elite, he's no Kosar or Sipe, he might just be more like Vinny than anything else. The real question isn't if DA is a starter, but if Quinn is elite? Is he Palmer, Manning, Brady, Romo, Brees, Roethlisberger?

The thing of it all is, we're still missing one piece to the passing game: We need a speed guy NOT named Tim Carter to stretch the D further. Perhaps that's greedy of me but it still can be said.

The question is, who would we bring in to become the backup if we trade DA?

Ya know Rish... I have followed this thread since it was started and with the exception of Peen, we all seem to be in agreement that DA has value but the only reason he has garnered that is due to his environment and the easy schedule... Just wondered in the reply to me where you misinterpreted what I wrote...

I in no way think we can snag a top 10 pick for him much less 2 1st rder's like some have pipe dreamed about... I do however see us being able to grab a pick from the #11 on and think that he has atleast that kind of value... He has too many holes in his game to be worth more than that ranking but what it comes down to is a team that needs a QB and where they may be slotted in the draft...

There may be some team picking in the teens salivating over Brohm but he could easily go top 10... The dropoff from him may be huge to a persepctive GM and he could see DA as being a better option than selling the farm to move up for Brohm...

This will indeed be interesting to see how it all plays out in the offseason...

I like many others will enjoy this ride while it lasts though...

DS44, I thought I put the 'just clicking' at the front of my post.

If not, my bad. I wasn't directly responding to you.

There seems to be a few camps on this board.

Camp1: People that are just so elated that we are winning, they fail to objectively evaluate the situation. "Hey, were winning...what more can you ask for?" ...to me, that is short-sighted thinking at it's best.

Camp2: People who kind of see what's going on but are nervous about making a change without actually seeing Quinn perform. And that is perfectly understandable.

Camp3a: People that are big picture thinkers taking all of the input/analysis into the their decision making on what is best for the Browns. People that have actually watched DA perform.

Camp3b: A variation of Camp3a in that they may think DA is performing just fine, but realize he is the leverage we need to improve the team quickly.

Camp4: Peen...

And the funny thing is , if Quinn is the starter next year and he puts up the normal first year starters numbers, most of those so called camps will be calling for Phils head if he lets DA go.

Diam I don't see how you don't think anyone will give up a #1 for DA.
We got somthing for Frye, and I thought getting a warm bucket of week old gatorade was the best we could hope for.

You did pre face your post with that... My bad...

And Hurricane...

MOST of the rookie slumps from QB's happen for a variety of reasons and not just speed of the game etc...

Lack of talent around them in the form of pass protection, running game and receiving weapons... Quinn has all of that going for him and the possibility of an even better line if LCB gets healthy...

It is a gamble but one I would be willing to make...

Believe me, I am enjoying the ride...but why not ask the most serious question of all going into this offseason?

Maybe because we are on the verge of our first playoff appearance in 5 years. It is a topic that the media will have to talk about in the offseason, but not now. It really isn't productive for the media to be talking about it right now. The team right now is firmly behind DA and I wonder how much the team will be willing to talk to these guys if they perceive them of just stirring the pot.

After the season it will be a hot and heavy topic. Right now I really don't think they see it as relevant.

Just clicking and one more quick note before I go to bed...

I think Anderson's decision making has gotten better since the season started. However what's holding him back is his general inaccuracy. I'm thinking of some big 3rd down plays that have stalled drives based on bad throws. The biggest one in my mind currently is when DA is on the run and he finds Jurevicius but overthrows him vs. Pittsburgh.

DA has missed all sorts of throws like this. I wonder how much of his inaccuracy is mechanical and how much can be fixed...I'm guessing it can't be fixed much if at all due to the fact that if he hasn't learned it in 3 years in the NFL, why would he pick it up in his 4th? I'm assuming mechanics are learned earlier on in the career than decision making is.

Anyway, it's just a thought. I have noticed an improvement in his decision making but his accuracy is holding him back and I wonder how much is mechanical and can be fixed.

I can only wonder how much more lethal our passing attack would be if DA were a more accurate passer.

I believe DA will be a Brown next year. Having said that I also feel he has more value this year. Our schdule will be stronger next year and doubt very much if his numbers will be as good. Chicago and Detroit best fit and he will be out of AFC.

I just heard he's going to Hawaii for the pro-bowl.

I hope he stays in cleveland next season. If Quinn gets the job let him earn it otherwise let DA stay our starter, as he's gotten the job done this year. We are winning and that's the bottom line.

like they said in the week running up to the Indy-NE game...

What's the difference between Tom Brady and Peyton Manning?

-- Tom Brady has actually said "No" to doing a commercial.
