I never thought I would live long enough to see something like this.
In ten years they predict that the cost will be $35k.
Think about the impact on everyday life. Air traffic control. Commute to work. Air pollution. The amount of time saved from traffic.
As the range increases what it will do for travel.
The first time I was in a small plane I flipped out. A friend of mine who lives in Anchorage invited another friend of mine and myself up to his remote cabin to go fishing. He owned a small plane. It had floats. We used like a taxi. Landing on rivers and lakes. It was the coolest thing I had done. I loved it. Land on a lake. Fish for 2 hours. Get in the plane and fly somewhere else to fish. WOW. How cool is that?
I can only imagine the feeling of having one of those aircars in my garage. I live outside Atlanta. Oh, "I think I will go to my buddy's house in Savannah." "See ya."
I don't know how more much time I have on this planet. But if I can live long enough to see at least some of this happening and actually fly one of those.
It would be like damn. My grandparents were born around 1880. My parents around 1918.
And her I am maybe flying around in a carplane. Damn.
I believe it's the thought of millions of these things flying around at low altitudes at the same time is one of the things that bother me almost as much as the safety issue. Hell, people can't even seem to be able to drive cars worth a crap in many cases. Can you imagine a fender bender causing your vehicle to fall hundreds of feet from the air? From what I have observed, I drive defensively because many people can't drive on the ground much less in the air.

I sure do not expect to see when it is part of daily life. But it will be.
When people were only riding horses. They were sure not thinking about cars and jet airplanes.
There is something so appealing about being able to fly.
I have been feeding hummingbirds for many years. I have a birdbath for them with a solar battery powered fountain. I grow flowers they like.
I marvel at their flying ability. Those tiny little birds migrate to Central America.
Just idea of being able to just take off on your own and fly. That is something I have always dreamed of.
I wonder if flying cars are going to follow the same rules for pilots the FAA has. Or are they considered "experimental" and thus the requirements are lower or nonexistent.
It is a wonderful dream. I remember watching the Jetsons as a child and thinking about how cool that would be! So the concept is something I'm very much a fan of. I too fed hummingbirds when I lived in Ohio. Now it's more about feeding deer and other wildlife in my current location. Butterfly bushes, honeysuckle and trumpet vines along with hummingbird feeders were what I used. I found watching them to be amazing.
The thing about aviation is we have very well trained pilots and an entire agency dedicated to it. The FAA along with a a network of air traffic controllers to manage the skies. As much as I like the idea in theory, I now realize just what a massive undertaking it would be to make this theory a practical reality. I'm sure it can be done and some day might be done. It's just going to take a lot of infrastructure and costs to happen.
