I thought the same about Howard Johnson, he went from hitting like 6 HR's a year to 20 plus a year overnight for the mets, in the middle 80's. I think he's one of the originals.
I expected Belle to be on this list as well.

Anyone who believes Griffey did isn't too bright.
Why, because he was good early? That doesn't mean anything. Steroids help improve recovery time, they aren't necessarily used to bulk up and look like Bonds. With over 150 game grind over the course of a season, I could see how just about anybody playing baseball would be tempted to use.
I don't know that anybody can look at some of those names on the list and say somebody is definitely NOT a user. And I'm not suggesting Griffey ever did anything either.

Just to be clear again, this report isn't to detail every player in MLB history that used steroids/HGH. If so, this report would be 10,000 pages and take over a decade to complete. Mitchell isn't going to get them all.

Although I have always really liked the guy, I'm surprised Pudge isn't on there as well.

Why am I not seeing one Brady Anderson on this list?
Because, like I said before ... a good number of these names come from like 3-4 "distributors" that actually got caught. This is probably nowhere near the full list of guys that are using or have used in the majors.

I agree.. this is an incomplete list and only the tip of the iceberg. In my mind, the good thing to come of this investigation is that players at all levels (especially kids) will be much more circumspect about using steroids.. I just watched a video http://video.wnbc.com/player/?id=194761 that says that over the last few years steroid use in high schools is down over 45% and thats a good thing.

I'm one of those who would like to believe Griffey never did either. But I would be happier with the facts, either way. However, anyone who got hurt as many times as he did and -- never, ever -- seemed to return to his old self afterwards, just makes me lean toward believing that he REFUSED to screw with the stuff. And I hope that's the case.

I have to admit that i am curious to see if any teams make any strange moves today, signalling a player may be named tomorrow.
' You mean like Tejada to the Astros for 5 minor leaguers?

and did anyone listen to Selig, he looked homeless

Here's some of the names I got just skimming through:
Jason Giambi Jeremey Giambi Gary Sheffield Lenny Dykstra David Segui Brian Roberts Todd Hundley Hal Morris Rondell White Roger Clemens Andy Petitte Chuck Knoblauch Greg Zaun David Justice Mo Vaughn Miguel Tejada Paul Lo Duca Kevin Brown Eric Gagne Rick Ankiel Paul Byrd Troy Glaus Jose Guillen John Rocker Matt Williams Gary Matthews Jr.
No real suprising names in there from my standpoint.
John Rocker and Mo Vaughn are really shockers though!

I didn't watch any of the press conferences but I remarked last night that I thought it would go something like this:
Mitchell enters the room, and sits before the microphones. Flashbulbs go off and the crowd noise subsides as he takes a sip of water and clears his throat.
Mitchell: Everyone in baseball is on steroids...thank you.
Mitchell rises and exits.

Ha ha ha...nice.
You know, a statement like that isn't too far off. This Mitchell Report was built from the Balco company fiasco and two individual trainers that worked on the east coast. There are hundreds of other personal trainers and hundreds of other places a player could have ordered steroids/HGH. This is truly the tip of the iceberg.
After all is said and done, Jose Canseco might have been the most accurate on this subject. I don't remember the number he quoted but it was near 75-80%. People called him a fool........who's the fool now?
Us.

Does anyone have a photo of Albert Belle pointing to his bicep after he got accused of using a corked bat?
Now we know he didn't use a corked bat! He corked his bicep.

Albert Belle was my favorite Indian back in the mid-90's. Roid rage could explain his outbursts and demolition of thermostats, throwing balls at people, and chasing down trick-or-treaters I am sorta glad his name is not on there unless it was when he turned traitor and left for Chi-town. You kinda knew Roger Clemens was on there. I mean the guy is still throwing hard as hell at his age and is like the evil terminator and won't quit I bet he does now for good.

So now that all these players have been named, I have a question for all the Bonds haters.
Should every single one of these people have an asterisk and be prevented from going to the HoF?
Also, should the entire generation have a giant asterisk since there's no way to prove they didn't use anything.

Sure...why wouldn't you?? But better than asterisks, I would suggest rolling back the record books.

Which is worse using steroids, or killing 75% of the trees in Peru just to print your findings on the subject?

I have yet to see the report, but it sure appears as if it names a whole lotta players in there..
Some of them were surprises,, Clemens, Pettit... didn't expect that!

Here is the full list of players mentioned on the report according to Yahoo News. It's a pretty decent cross section of the entire demographic of baseball players. You've got minor leaguers, big stars, smaller guys, monsterous guy, oft-injured guys, fairly healthy guys, journeymen, control pitchers, power pitchers, singles hitters, home run hitters, etc. Like I said before, I'm not sure you can look at this list, and then point to any one player and say, "He's definitely NOT on something".
As mentioned, this is a list of guys that came from a small handful of trainers and distributers that were busted. There are a few hundred other trainers out there that we have no real idea what they are giving to their clients. This doesn't exhonerate ANYBODY in the big leagues.
NEW NAMES
Chad Allen Mike Bell Gary Bennett Larry Bigbie Kevin Brown Alex Cabrera Mark Carreon Jason Christiansen Howie Clark Roger Clemens Jack Cust Brendan Donnelly Chris Donnels Matt Franco Eric Gagne Matt Herges Phil Hiatt Glenallen Hill Todd Hundley Mike Judd David Justice Chuck Knoblauch Tim Laker Mike Lansing Paul Lo Duca Nook Logan Josias Manzanillo Cody McKay Kent Mercker Bart Miadich Hal Morris Daniel Naulty Denny Neagle Jim Parque Luis Perez Andy Pettitte Adam Piatt Todd Pratt Stephen Randolph Adam Riggs Armando Rios Brian Roberts F.P. Let's see, we have a couple of trainers and a few others, trying to cop pleas to reduced sentences. Reports that so and so told so and so such and such, and you "find these guys all guilty"????
Most everyone named in this report, got their names in there from hear say and from testimony acquired by convicts trying to save their asses. MOST of ALL of this "evidence" wouldn't even be admissable in a court of law.
Yet I see everyone "assuming" that this report is accurate. Of course I guess if it's what the public wants to hear..............
I know one thing, if my name had been dragged through the mud based on "here say from questionable characters" my lawyers would be preparing a slander/ defimation of character law suit as we speek. And it would be money in the bank. I can't wait to see Selig squirm from all of this.
This wasn't a "fact based report" but a hear say witch hunt. No justice in that.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.
