Joe Burrow ... come on down
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

I wonder how that chart would look based on the actual guaranteed portions of their contracts?
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I wonder how that chart would look based on the actual guaranteed portions of their contracts? not sure it matters because it doesn't change the cap space each NFL team has.

Yet most know a contract as only worth as much as it's guaranteed for and we also know when there are outs and less guaranteed money teams can get out of those contacts with a much lower cap hit if need be. Some contracts tie you to a QB. Some contracts make you married to them.

Cowboys CB Trevon Diggs Agrees to Five-Year Contract Extension, per Report The Cowboys and Trevon Diggs are finalizing a five-year, $97 million contract extension that includes a $21.25 million contract extension, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. Diggs will earn $19.4 million per year within the new deal with the opportunity to secure $104 million in incentives. The two-time Pro Bowler has registered 17 interceptions and two touchdowns in three seasons in Dallas’s secondary. Prior to earning a new extension, the 24-year-old was set to enter the final season of his contract. Diggs, who was drafted by Dallas in the second round of the 2020 NFL draft out of Alabama, signed a four-year, $6.32 million deal that included a $2.157 million signing bonus. Now, with the new extension, Diggs will earn the same amount as the Saints’ elite cornerback Marshon Lattimore and becomes one of the highest-paid cornerbacks in the league. The Cowboys secure a key piece in their secondary as training camp begins in Oxnard, Calif. With the new deal, Diggs will be unrestricted free agent in ’29. Last season, Digg recorded 59 tackles, three interceptions, a fumble recovery and 14 pass deflections in 17 games. https://www.si.com/nfl/2023/07/25/n...-five-year-contract-extension-per-report

Unless you are someone who has no interest or conception of the sport of NFL football the answer is obvious... I think you knew the answer before you asked the question.

I wonder how that chart would look based on the actual guaranteed portions of their contracts? Who cares? Teams don't cut top QB's. They are all going to play their full term. If a guy gets injured, teams are still going to keep them at least 2 more years in the hopes of a return, so at most a team might be out 1 year of salary. It's minimal risk, and for a non-Browns fan, why the hell do you even care?

Who cares? Teams don't cut top QB's. They are all going to play their full term. That's a great point and I agree. Of all the positions in the NFL, money dedicated to the franchise QB in the contract usually gets paid out (although I'm sure there are exceptions to that), regardless of what's guaranteed or not. And as that contract ends, another is usually agreed upon. So essentially, whether the guaranteed money is $230, $216, $200 million, these QBs will most likely see all the money in their deal unless another extension takes place. It's more a matter if the QB ends up playing the way you want him to regardless of that guarantee because whether it's within that range above ($200M- $230M), it's going to be bad contract no matter how you look at it if he plays poorly. QBs also have the longest shelf life in the NFL (esp. a "franchise" one) as well. That allows you to tie money to one you deem a franchise QB as well, to a degree. However, I would offer an amendment to the injury situation when there are multiple injuries and the QB will never be the same. Yes, you still might drag it out in the hopes that he'll get back to normal, but if it's that bad a team might try and settle.

Fair, but what about situations (like Watson's, allegedly) where the plan is to restructure to further spread the cap hit and push it down the road?

All these years waiting and we have to have a scumbag for a QB. All I wanted was a little remorse from him so I can get into the Browns O full throttle. But No he has to play the victim card instead. SMH Loved him as a QB until the sexual assault stuff. Now I love the Browns but dislike our QB due to his character. I won't say the words "worse trade ever" it is what it is and we cannot change it.

Cue the "I'm not a fan but I support the team and post on their message board every day" lecture, accompanied by the definition of "fanatic". It's not my fault people aren't smart enough to know the difference between supporting a team and being a fan(atic). It's not actually a lecture. It's an English lesson. fanatic; a person filled with excessive and single-minded zeal, especially for an extreme religious or political cause supporter; a person who approves of and encourages someone or something (typically a public figure, a movement or party, or a policy).

jmho How about just simply supporting the player and not So much the person. ? How do you know he hasn't Expressed remorse already? What do you want from DeShaun...a press conference? All I know is that I know of 26 females had No issue taking those financial settlements from Watson. Money has a funny way of making people move foward In life. If Watson was a 2nd string punter on a league Minimum it would have Been a non story Sorry to break it to ya..but pro athletes are far from angels There are more DeShawn Watsons than Joe Burrows

Fan or fanatic?
A fan, according to the American Heritage College Dictionary, is "an ardent devotee, an enthusiast."
Fanatic is defined as "a person marked by an extreme unreasoning enthusiasm, as for a cause." The distinction, then, apparently rests on whether the enthusiasm is ardent or unreasoning.

Merriam-Webster, the Oxford dictionary and other sources define "fan" as a shortened version of the word fanatic. Fanatic itself, introduced into English around 1550, means "marked by excessive enthusiasm and often intense uncritical devotion". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fan_Sorry, but I'm going to have to go with both the Merriam-Webster and the Oxford dictionary on this one rather than some dictionary I've never heard of.

A future contract upwards of 60 million per year will give Joe something to look forward to and should promote a fast convalescence!!

Bengals should be overly careful obviously. Those things can linger like Teller's did
