Wish I had caught on before Brent died.
Glad I got to see a few Hornsby GD shows though. A couple of really beautiful nights.

Ren has been an obsession for me since I discovered his music in February. His combination of musical styles, theatrical presentation, and innovation sets him apart from nearly every other musician. He's a bard. I've heard his music referred to as 'bardcore,' a word I've never heard before.

I love Buddy Guy. He is such a bitching guitar player.

Tom Jones recently passed. No, not that Tom Jomes. This Tom was a playwrite/composer who wrote the ""Fantasticks"
which played Broadway and off Broadway for over 40 years.

I was going to write something in another forum, but thought I would just add it here, and yes Jerry Orbach was in the origional cast. Most of you remember him as Det. Lenny Briscoe from Law and Order.

Jerry was a very accomplished stage actor before his TV stint. When he passed, the theaters on Broadway dimmed their marquees, a big honor reserved for only a few.

Joe and his wife Pam had been family friends for many years. I became a fan over time. He was really a great singer. The human voice can be an instrument. And Joe had a unique way to present a song.

The album "Organic" is a terrific album. There is a a behind the scenes video of the whole album which is fantastic.

I've seen so many concerts in my life that there are very few groups left on my bucket list. The Tedeschi Trucks Band is one of those very few.

The intro to "Sweet Jane" is so badass.

It has to be played loud. Like blow your ear drums loud.

No music video.....Then again, not sure they had music videos back then.

They resided for a time in "Mentor On The Lake" near 306 and Lakeshore and practiced quite often.

I delivered their daily newspaper "The Cleveland Press" in the early 70's/ish.

Several incarnations ago, this musicvid thread spent time on covers of classic tunes. I'm too lazy to find the exact thread tonight. If I had more energy, I'd drop this short clip in the appropriate thread from the Wayback Machine, and drag it back to the present (if someone can easily do what I'm too dumb and/or lazy to do, I'd be deeply appreciative).

In the 'covers' thread, I submitted two versions of a tune- one, by a young man (the original composer) and a second, by an old man, near the end of his life.*

That tune was "Hurt," by Trent Reznor (9 Inch Nails). Covered by Johnny Cash. Any fan of either (or both) of these artists has the video/soundtrack of these versions burned into their long-term memory, both were so powerful.

Tonight, I stumbled upon a YouTube vid entitled, "The Greatest Cover Song of All Time?"
In it, the producer/narrator presents his case for this tune (with these two artists) as his submission for the all-time best.

It took me back to that thread, some few years ago- and the observations I made at the time.

This song "Four Strong Winds" was written by Canadian folk singer Ian Tyson.

It was later recorded by Neil Young who heard it once and fell in love with the song.

But Johnny Cash adds something that moves me to tears when I heard him sing it.

Found it. Probably wouldn't have if not for Vers. He started "Art of the Cover 2" and tipped his cap to your original in 2018. thumbsup

Just to riff off the last few posts, although not strictly within the "music video" intent of the thread.

First, DP fell through the cracks when I first started listening to music. When a buddy put on "Space Truckin'" one day in his car, I too was soon wearing a groove in that vinyl... Highway Star, Pictures of Home, Space Truckin'... damn. Machine Head was a quintessential hard rock album.

Here's a cover, a one-off for Marshall amps, from one dude playing his favorite band and another, his former band. Glenn Hughes is a rock god, Yngwie a guitar god, and damn what a synergy they displayed on stage. Good stuff.
