Actually this is what I expected. I just had to get this off my chest.
Arthur Blank was referring to fatty, unhealthy food, period. Fried chicken and french fries are a staple of southern food.
This is not the same as the joke made about Tiger Woods and fried chicken and greens. He was simply talking about Vick eating food that is bad for him while he was in prision.
Maybe we shouldn't even mention he is in prision. Black men in prision is also considered a stereotype.
I agreed with you until that last shot. Unneccessary, that is a fact that he is in prison...can't get around that.
I don't think he meant his comment as an insult to anyone, just an unfortunate thing...but it is what it is. Who's to say that Arthur Blank doesn't buy into the stereotype? I don't know him personally so I can't say where his heart is. I don't believe that he meant any harm though.
As far as you rolling your eyes about black men in prison...you didn't have to go there.

You are correct. Anybody, anytime, anywhere, has the right and ability to be offended by anything they want to be offended by. I don't dispute that at all.
What I don't particularly care for is the "offended's" supposed "right" to change the "offendee's" behaviour/action/speech. Or, if not change it, then to be able to cry "rascism".
Call me ignorant, but I have no idea where the fried chicken - black thing came from, and I don't care to know. I like fried chicken. Why is it that blacks get to have the fried chicken in their corner?

Honestly, I don't know why we get the rap and chicken lovers...there's no more chicken lovers in my mind then asians...go to your local chinese buffet and look at how many different ways chicken is prepared. Black folks have generally two ways... fried and baked.

My wife agrees with your first statement. And for the record, I love KFC as well. I have cut back though. Used to be, I'd get 2 boxes of the chicken strips - with mashed potatos and gravy......I've cut back now to ordering 2 boxes and sharing with my daughter (she's 7 - I still get enough I think)

When I first heard the comment I thought " he should have known better then to use fried chicken". Was it racist? I never met the guy and dont know his thought process.
My second thought was "do they even serve fried chicken in prison?" Maybe if Vick gets into one of those lavish richy prisons with its own golf course. I know some high security prisons even let inmates work the kitchen, but I wouldnt think a deep frier would be the safest thing in prison.
Since KFC has been brought up. I hate the chicken but like the sides. I have a tough choice between biscuit or corn bread. Mashed potatoes and corn on the cob are the 2 sides every time. They also have a killer pudding cup for desert. But the chicken, Id rather get fried chicken from the corner store that I saw in there 2 days earlier under the heat lamp.

Funny thing is a work in a predominantly black neighborhood. When I worked days i used to hit some of the local soul food spots and get fried chicken, greens, and mac and cheese and the some of the blacks I worked with would joke that I must have some black in me , or I was going to turn black eating like that. One part I never undertood is how did Polish boys turn into soul food. Now I work nights so I dont go to those places... are you crazy I am not going out at night in that neighborhood KING

I love their chicken ....... plus .... when I bought my house, they were the only business to send me a "housewarming" gift coupon. They gave me 2 free sandwiches.
Great way to conquest new customers who are moving into your service area. (even if they only moved a mile or so)
