I saw some of the highlights of plays made.
Wow! So cool how well young boys can play the game.
As an eleven year old in Harrisburg, Pa. I was on the All Star Team. Man that was long ago. I got hit in the wrist and broke it. My season was done. I had dreams that we would go to Williamsport.
I helped coach a 9/10 Little League team to a State Championship. That was as far as we could go. The local Park decided to join the Pony League the next year where base stealing was allowed. It was sad because the Park was loaded with great talent. That 9/10 team as 12 year olds would have been a force.
That age group is so fun to coach. They want to be coached. They love playing. There are no real distractions that come later. Girls are not important. Cars and hanging out are not in play. Baseball means everything at that age. You play for the joy of playing the game.
A 12 year old can play at a high level. They will practice till you turn off the lights.
I love the Little League World Series.

Actually the Nolenville TN. team is located close to my home. They're the first team to make the LL World series for three years in a row.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

The guy that started East Cobb Baseball coached the Marietta Ga. LL team that won the World Series back in the 80's.
After that he started a business called East Cobb Baseball. It turned into gold. Baseball America listed ECB as the number one youth baseball program in the US.
Coaching little league was super fun. I would encourage any young father to take it up. You hear a lot about wacko parents etc. That can happen but it is more rare than common.
A bunch of kids 9 to 12 on a baseball field having fun is a gemstone.

Last year, the West (Hawaii) won the LLWS. I was driving home from base and noticed them honoring/celebrating their win at the governors place. So I had to stop and support them.
This year I decided to buy a West ball cap. I even customized it with the islands and HI flag on the back. Naturally I jinxed them and Hilo lost to Cali.

Just as a side note. Nolensville has a girl pitcher named Stella Weaver and she's pretty damned good! So there is a nickname they've given the team that seems pretty popular around here. They call them, "Stella and the Fellahs". Stella Weaver making history with her bat at LLWS https://www.mlb.com/news/stella-weaver-u-s-record-hits-in-little-league-world-series

Wow!
What a great story! It's not just smoke either, look at her form on the mound -- she's a natural pitcher. Hits the ball well and runs the bases like a gazelle as well. Good stuff!

I have to brag a little bit about my son.
At twelve he was a total stud pitcher. Really dominate. Kids that age mature at different times. Watching Little League one kid will look like a parent. Another like the runt of a litter.
My son had great control of his fastball. His fingers are really long and like double jointed. His grip at twelve allowed him to throw a circle change. He was unhittable. Threw a number of no-hitters in tournament ball.
John Smoltz's agent's and Joe Simpson the Braves announcer (former Dodger) all believed he had big league potential. He was selected to every all-star team since he was five.
He had elbow surgery. Things happened and the dream faded. He played till sixteen.
We had a blast together while it lasted. Life went on. Things worked out for him and all is well.

Little League championships should not go beyond the regional level. and none of it should be televised.
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

These kids work really hard to get to this point and no one is making you watch it. I think its awesome for the youngsters to be on ESPN,something they will always remember.

I recently watched Brian Sipe on the Club 46 interviews on YT. When asked about his most monumental moment in sports (or at least something to that effect) he said it was when his LL team won the LLWS. It was extremely rare for a 12-13 year old kid to be on TV to begin with, but to win a championship, then have your hometown throw you a parade, he was on top of the world.

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Movie ending.
Really cool for all involved. It was interesting that on Sunday Night Baseball the announcers David Cone and the rest who were covering the Giants /Braves game. What they had to say as the highlights of the LLWS were shown. That for some guys who played in the majors and had won the LLWS as kids that the highlight of their careers was winning the LLWS.
As a 12 year old playing there could hardly be a better thrill.

Imagine being twelve again. Remember what kind of thoughts run through your mind.
Then think about knowing you are on TV. Every person that you know from where you live is watching you playing the final game.
And you hit a walkoff.
Hard to top that.

Hard to top that. exactly. I can't even fathom that experience

Crowd lines up for autographs at homecoming parade for Nolensville Baseball For the third straight year, the program made it to the Little League World Series NOLENSVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The Nolensville Little League team is back in town after the program's third straight appearance at the Little League World Series. "It will be in my life forever. I'll always remember it," said Corbin Cyphers, a player. Team Manager Randy Huth is the first coach to ever bring a team to the World Series three times in a row. "For us to put together 12 kids to play on the level we played at.... from a town that's not the size of the towns we played like Seattle and San Bernardino... Nolensville — 15,000 people — for us to have that amount of talent in a small area... it's amazing," said Randy Huth. Just like in the major leagues, at their homecoming parade, the group of twelve 12-year-old players greeted fans and signed autographs on hats, baseballs and posters. Each player was escorted to the event on a tricked out golf cart. "Like who makes a golf cart for a little league team? I bet no other team does that," said Grayson May, a player. Nolensville Baseball's dedicated fan base grew even larger this year with the addition of Stella Weaver. The standout athlete ended up breaking the U.S. record for most hits by a girl at the Little League World Series. She shared some advice for kids just getting into the game. "Just have as much fun as you can," Weaver said. "It's all about having fun, and trust yourself." While the team may not have won the Series, they sure have won over the community. "They should never hang their heads. There's a lot of lessons they will carry forward from this experience and we're just all very proud of them," said Jason Hunter, a fan. Nolensville was eliminated from the Little League World Series after a loss to California. California went on to win the whole thing. https://www.newschannel5.com/news/c...q5eqhGV5l11OwQ2gmFUGeDICOTETxzZpTDfIDa-g

Such a great experience for those kids and their parents.
Kids gain so much from the experience of playing on a baseball team.
You fail in baseball and you must accept it and learn from it. You play as a team member. You learn there will be ups and downs.
You must accept that calls will not always go your way. There are so many life lessons that are gained. Things that will help you as you grow to adulthood.
Not all kids get the calling to play. Both my grandsons had no interest. That is ok. Hopefully the kids that never participate will find something else that will help them.
I coached 3 brothers at different times. Their parents wanted them on my teams. None were great players. But they were terrific kids. The youngest I give a lot of special attention to. I had him over to my house where I had a "solo hitter." We worked and worked on his swing. Then that special day came when it all paid off. He lined a shot into the gap and stood on second base. He was wearing one of the best smiles I have ever seen.
It was a great thrill for me to see that. The gains are not for the kids alone.

Team sports in general are one of the fondest memories of my childhood. So much enjoyment while so man life lessons were taught at the same time.

Sports in general are most likely helpful. Individual sports provide that drive for improvement.
My kids could not have been more different. My son loved sports. My daughter did not. I don't think she knows who even plays in the Super Bowl.
I have never in all my years on this earth met anyone with her drive. She will complete her doctorate in 2025. She never stops learning. If she takes a bath to relax. She is listening to lectures of some kind. I could write a book about all that she has done to accomplish what she has accomplished.
No way on this earth could I have done what I have seen her do.
