22 years... almost 3,000 victims that day in 2001... more have died due to cancer associated with 9.11

Horrible day... praying for those who lost loved ones that day

Amen. Unfortunately, there are kids drinking in bars today to whom today has little to no meaning.

Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

John 14:19 Jesus said: Because I live, you also will live.

I agree... but what amazes me more is those who were adults when 9/11 happened who now either say it's been long enough and we don't have to keep making a big deal out of it or that it's somehow racist to remember and talk about the attacks...

It's one of those dates whose importance is slipping away. Anyone under 20 doesn't really get it. For those of us that do, we will never forget.

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

My son turned 18 on 9-11, and turned 40 this year. Most of his adult life has been effected to some degree by that attack. I know I will never forget the hopelessness of that day or the strong coming together in the days and months after. I disagree with the 20 years of continuous war, but absolutely agree with going after those who perpetrated 9-11. Shame it was mostly all for naught. The country and world are worse off now than on 9-12.

Most everyone that was around on December 7, 1941 are gone, those of us still here were taught about it, still think about those that died that day. It's up to us to keep that fire burning for both Pearl Harbor and 9/11.

History is important. if you ever wondered about that, this is a good example of why!

Those that are trying to tinker with history need a lesson.

I mostly agree, but time does sanitize old wounds.

"Remember the Maine! To hell with Spain", was a rally cry in 1899. Not many people today still Remember the Maine.

Dec. 7th is fading away, as will 9-11 in another 30 or so years.

I will never forget 9/11 and I will not forgive or trust the Saudis...15 of the 19 hijackers were Saudi citizens.

Our oldest son was in his 10th year of his Navy career when 9/11 happened. He called us from Camp Lejeune in the late afternoon of 9/11 and told us that his unit would be responding overseas. At that time there were no details or specifics about where or when his unit would be deployed.

He served two tours Iraq and was in the 2nd Battle of Fallujah. It all started with 9/11 and the sacrifices that our military made should never be forgotten or taken for granted.

I don't know how much it will "fade" per say. Maybe a century from now. But what I have trouble with is isolating 9/11 as a single day or event in and of itself. There was also the aftermath of it. The hate directed towards all Muslims for the act of some extremist fringe of the religion. The unnecessary war in Iraq not only causing the deaths of our own military personnel but thousands upon thousands of innocent Iraqi citizens. I believe it's very possible to understand and mourn the mass tragedy of 9/11 while still having the ability to be honest with ourselves about the aftermath of it. There were also good things in the aftermath. Our security is much better and we are more self aware of what's happening in our surroundings.

It could be. I just threw out 30 years in a figurative way. My only point is kids born today won't have the same feelings that you, Mac, or I might have, and their kids will have even less, if any.

As for all the other stuff you mentioned, that belongs is a different forum.

Really? All of what I posted, in its entirety, is directly connected to 9/11. Actual events in history are not political. Simply lessons we should all learn from. But then again maybe separating history from politics is something we should all learn as well. If you look back I think you'll find that most everyone supported these actions and it wasn't along any party lines for the most part.
