Well, first, whether you come thru a port of entry and request asylum, or you have waded across the rio grande and attempted illegal entry, you do not have a right to be released into America. As I said earlier, anyone who’s comes to a POE and requests asylum should immediately be adjudicated on the spot. Decision rendered and proper disposition of the case right then. If you came across any other way , you have no right to claim amnesty and you should be returned immediately.
According to the CPB, in 12 months from April 2022 to April 2023 1.3 million illegals were released into America. That is wrong and most Americans think it is wrong. Shoot, even the residents of Martha’s Vineyard tired of them rather quickly when face to face with an onslaught of them. I read where a police shooting of a criminal who was an illegal who had been deported nine times. Re entered each time. I think that is a porous border, or virtually no border at all.
So I do not think I am saying any of those things you asked if I am saying. At least as best I can tell.

Actually, by law, if you cross at a legal point of entry and apply for asylum you do have the right to stay in America until you receive a hearing. How many immigration judges do you think we should have? A thousand? Two thousand? The only time that was different was during an "emergency Covid order". At no time, under any president no matter the party have hundreds, much less thousands of immigration judges ever been appointed. As I said, these are measures that can only be changed by changing immigration laws. A power the president does not possess. That's the job of congress. Anyone who thinks I'm happy about our immigration problem is mistaken. The only difference here is that I understand that "what I think and what I feel" doesn't really matter when it comes to the process it takes to change our immigration laws. So far, as of now, a president isn't a dictator. They can not rewrite our laws. And if you're actually interested in what's going on I'm happy to tell you. As of now Republicans control the house of representatives. They could easily propose a bill to change our immigration laws. But why would they? As of now it's a mess and they have convinced people to blame it all on Biden. So if they can do that, what motivation do they have to actually try to fix it? When the democrats have been in power of the house of representatives, they as well have offered no bill to overhaul our immigration laws. This is nothing more than the politicians on both sides of the isle playing hot potato with neither side actually trying to address the problem. So I have no issue with people being frustrated with the issue. I too am frustrated with it. The problem is they don't seem to care about the fact that it's congress refusal to act that is the issue here and are fooled into believing the republican party line that this is all somehow Biden's fault. And before you say, "yeah, but he's not doing anything"..... More military personnel head to the US-Mexico border as officials describe an increase in migrant crossings https://www.cnn.com/2023/09/21/us/migrant-crossings-eagle-pass-state-of-emergency/index.htmlHe had already sent 2500 National Guard Troops to the border and is now sending 800 more. If you really want border reform, which I think the vast majority of us do, I think you need to focus your attention towards the people who actually hold the power to fix it. Congress.

So you mean if you can't find your victim to have as a witness to testify you don't really have a case to bring before the court? Imagine that.
Men get off the hook for domestic violence all the time because the women won't testify too. If you can't find or get the victim to testify this is how it usually works out. If you can get them to plead guilty to anything at all.

Yes!
The dude caught on camera beating someone with a bat, who admitted to causing "gruesome injuries to his face and head", who walked away then turned around to come back and stomp the man... should do no jail time because the homeless man doesn't have an address. Makes perfect sense!

I'm sorry the law and court system doesn't work the way you wish it did. Without the victim in such a case being able to testify the prosecutor really doesn't have much of a case. I think you actually know that. It doesn't allow for any content or context as to what may or may not have transpired leading up to the event. Maybe you can get someone to change the burden of proof in criminal trials to be more reflective of you liking.

The perp admitted to the crime.
And there's clear video evidence. How would the prosecutor "really doesn't have much of a case".
Please explain how there has ever been a murder conviction if the victim wasn't there to testify. I'll wait.

You are using two totally different standards. In one there is no victim witness alive to testify. I'm sorry you're having trouble grasping that if you have a witness who is the victim that can not, does not or will not testify it makes your case much harder to get a conviction on. An attorney worth their salt can nullify someone's guilty plea and change the plea to not guilty. You are really making a reach of epic proportions trying to make this some "Democrat" issue.
In this case the charges were not dropped. Which in and of itself is more rare than you may believe. As I stated the prosecutor can not establish what if anything led up to this event and as such would make a harsh sentence much less likely. But you go on with your bad self denying how this all works.

I believe you are wrong. Assault with a deadly weapon when the person is walking away from you - based on the picture - is wrong. I can't do it, you can't do it.

It is wrong. It is a crime. The guy was prosecuted for it. I never said anything to the contrary. I do know that very often when you can't get a witness to testify such charges are dropped. I don't like that either. It's led to the death of many women who stay on violent relationships because they are afraid to testify or leave their abusive spouse. I think the entire thing stinks to high heaven.
The issue comes in the sentencing of such a thing. A lot of mitigating circumstances come into play in sentencing such crimes. Did they guy wielding the bat have a history of mental illness? According to what the article stated he had no criminal history. There seems to be no context to what happened leading up to the event. Something the victim himself could provide testimony to. So all of those things are taken into consideration. And as much as I too believe the sentence was too light, that's simply how the justice works in terms of sentencing.
But let me explain what this is really all about. First, the attention is directed at Bragg. As we have seen in the Hunter Biden case, the prosecutor doesn't have the final say in sentencing. The judge does. So if anyone gets a "sweetheart deal" it's because the judge accepted the plea and found the sentence appropriate given the circumstances surrounding the case. But Bragg happens to be the prosecutor in one of the trump cases so they wanted to go after him and will do so with every chance they get or think they have. That was the objective here.

Yeah, so, I was replying to this part of your statement: "As I stated the prosecutor can not establish what if anything led up to this event and as such would make a harsh sentence much less likely"
It's on video. One need not have a witness to prosecute - when it's on video. Dude was walking away. There was no life threatening or serious bodily injury happening to the guy that got whacked with a bat.
As far as Bragg............uh, judges take into consideration what the DA suggests. I don't care about Bragg and who he did or did not prosecute. But, go on.

So the actual motivation as to why the story was written this way means nothing to you. That would be interesting if I didn't consider it typical.
The event itself is on video. Anything leading up to the event is not provided. Yet having it on video is the only reason it was able to be prosecuted. Once again, the judge is responsible for whether he accepts the sentence according to the circumstances or not. The judge, and only the judge has the final say. You can massage that any way you choose. It will still not change that reality. I understand you managed to skirt around all of the other factors I pointed out in sentencing guidelines.
I actually agreed with you that it was criminal and should have been prosecuted. I actually agreed with you that I too didn't like how light the sentence was. I'm not quite sure what the hell more you're after than that.

I don’t know what or why Bragg did this in this case. It doesn’t look good that’s for sure. BUT if he gets a Trump conviction, he’s GOOD BY ME.

Well after seeing the hit and what he did, this creep should have gone straight to jail without passing go. But our legal system is far from perfect. Just look at all those J6 traitors that got a slap on the wrist instead of being lined up and shot.

Right now as we can see it appears as though the joke is more their actions or lack there of than the way they are dressed. One party is so busy fighting amongst themselves they can't get out of their own way.

Democratic Sen. Robert Menendez indicted on federal bribery charges Washington — Democratic Sen. Robert Menendez of New Jersey and his wife have been indicted by a federal grand jury, according to court filings unsealed Friday, with prosecutors alleging the couple accepted lavish bribes in exchange for official acts. The bribery offenses against Menendez stem from a yearslong public-corruption investigation by the Justice Department. The indictment unsealed Friday charges Mendez and his wife, Nadine Menendez, with three counts in connection to their relationship with three New Jersey businessmen. Menendez, 69, and his wife are charged with one count of conspiracy to commit bribery, conspiracy to commit honest services fraud and conspiracy to commit extortion under color of official right. The three New Jersey associates, identified as Wael Hana, Jose Uribe and Fred Daibes, are also named as co-defendants and face two counts. Federal prosecutors in the Southern District of New York are set to announce the charges during a press conference at 11 a.m. ET on Friday, which will be streamed in the player above. What does the indictment allege? The 39-page indictment claims that beginning in 2018, Menendez and his wife accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars of bribes in exchange for using the senator's power and influence as a U.S. senator to enrich and protect the three businessmen and benefit Egypt's government. The bribes allegedly included cash, gold, payments toward a home mortgage, compensation for a "low-or-no-show-job," a luxury vehicle and "other things of value," according to the charging document. Federal agents found more than $480,000 in cash during a search of the couple's home in June 2022, "much of it stuffed into envelopes and hidden in clothing, closets, and a safe," as well as over $70,000 in a safe deposit box belonging to Nadine Menendez. They also found gold bars worth more than $100,000, according to the indictment. Envelopes of cash were allegedly found in jackets with Menendez's name that were hanging in his closet. Prosecutors included photos of some of the cash and two of the gold bars they say were seized: Federal agents conducting the search also found numerous items paid for by Hana, Daibes or Uribe, including home furnishings and a Mercedes-Benz convertible, according to the filing. The indictment details numerous actions Menendez and his wife allegedly took to benefit the three co-defendants. Prosecutors allege that in the course of the "corrupt relationship," Menendez promised to undertake official acts in exchange for the bribes that benefited him and his wife. The senator is accused of providing sensitive, nonpublic government information about the number of people serving at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo to Nadine Menendez, who was then his girlfriend, which she allegedly forwarded to Hana. Hana then shared the information with an unnamed Egyptian government official, according to the indictment. Justice Department lawyers said Menendez also "improperly advised and pressured" a high-level Department of Agriculture official and urged the department to stop interfering with a business monopoly granted to Hana by the Egyptian government. He is also accused of using to use his influence and power as a senator to disrupt a criminal investigation by the New Jersey Attorney General's Office related to Uribe. They allege he used that sway to recommend President Biden nominate a candidate to serve as New Jersey's top federal prosecutor, someone who Menendez believed he could influence regarding the federal criminal prosecution of Daibes. Menendez's Senate office did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Friday. The New Jersey senator was indicted in 2015 on roughly a dozen charges, including bribery and conspiracy, following accusations he accepted gifts from a wealthy Democratic donor in exchange for political favors. That case ended in a mistrial after jurors were unable to reach a verdict after deliberating for more than a week. Sources confirmed to CBS News in October 2022 that Menendez was under criminal investigation in New York. First elected to Congress in 1992 to represent New Jersey's 13th Congressional District, Menendez was appointed to the Senate in 2006 and elected to a full term later that year. In the course of his tenure in the Senate, Menedez rose to chair the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, a post he resumed when Democrats took control of the upper after the 2020 election. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/robert-menendez-indicted-bribery/There you go GOP. Those that commit treason against the US would be shot. what we have here is a difference of opinion on what is and isn't treason. IMO, those that attacked the capital on J6 are traitors and should all be shot. The elected officials that side with them should be treated the very same way. I'm hoping that at some point, that 14th amendment thing will take hold. We'll just get rid of them all....

Pit, you may not have read my first post in this thread, but I outlined what needs to be done. It includes the hiring of “asylum referees “. I used the number 100,000, not really meaning to be specific but more to say”whatever it takes”. I don’t know how many but whatever it takes. All asylum claims will be adjudicated immediately.
I notice you posted that the President is sending 2500 troops to the border. Hmm, since you have posted multiple times that the Biden policy has border crossings at an all time low, why do we need all those troops?? Are you ready to admit that the border is a disaster? Every headline screams it so you should.
You say “if I want border reform”. Before reform I want border control. Reagan tried in 86, but he gave the dems what they wanted, amnesty for illegals, before he got what he wanted, control at the border, and they reneged on their promises and gave him nothing. Never again should that be allowed to happen.
I accept that you want the border mess resolved, but the fact is that the people preventing resolution all have a d after their name. They seem to insist that fixing the border requires asylum, then citizenship and voting rights for the 20-25 million people here illegally. The American people oppose that and it should never happen.

Lol, but you don’t have to ever worry about me physically hurting a GOPer like you lil buddy. Nope, you’ll probably get taken out by a splinter from your butt stick.

First of all, I never said that border crossings were at an all time low. What I said and when I said it was 100% correct. At the time I said that border crossings were at a two year low and that's exactly what i stated. So you might wish to be more factual about "what I said".
Secondly, do you think a president has the power to simply hire tens of thousands of immigration judges? No, only congress controls the power of the purse. We keep agreeing on the problem but what you seem to refuse to do is admit that right now Republicans control the House of representatives. They could easily bring an immigration reform bill to the floor for a vote. It could include adding all of the immigration judges you spoke of. But they haven't. Instead they seem to enjoy blaming the Dems for everything and using it as a political talking point more than actually trying to fix it. A lack of immigration reform via congress to change any of the immigration laws has left us where we are. And once again, this lack of addressing it has been while both parties have been in power over several decades now.
I know it seems like a popular train of thought to believe that a president is now a dictator after listening to trump once he first decided to run in 2015. But luckily, so far they're not. When it comes to spending their power is very limited. Their power to change the laws are pretty much non existent. It seems using the border as a weapon in a political war is a higher priority for republicans than actually sponsoring a bill to fix it.
You certainly seems to have addressed the border problems well. The problem is you can't seem to identify who actually has the power to change immigration laws and fund all of those immigration judges you're talking about.
So the blame game from people such as yourself continues.

And on "the lighter side" not only from a comedic standpoint but from a caloric intake standpoint as well........ Fetterman sends Comer Bud Light ‘gift’ amid impeachment hearing Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) sent a tongue-in-cheek present to Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.) on Thursday as Comer held the first hearing for Republicans’ impeachment inquiry into President Biden. Fetterman shared on X, formerly Twitter, that his staff dropped off a case of Bud Light for Comer and his team. “This morning, I directed my staff to deliver a gift to congratulate and salute Representative Comer and his Team America (TM) squad as they embark on their historic impeachment journey,” Fetterman said. A note attached to the beer reads, “To Rep. Comer & his squad. A profile in courage can make a guy thirsty. Congratulations, this Bud’s for you. Hugs & kisses: John Fetterman,” adding a smiling hearts emoji. The choice of beer was also a dig at Republicans after internet conservatives started an online trend to boycott the brand this summer after it sponsored a post with a transgender social media influencer. Fetterman has leaned into his reputation as a Washington outsider in recent weeks, taking advantage of a recent debate over the way he dresses to go after Republicans and openly making fun of their attempts to impeach the president. He’s also embraced absurd conspiracy theories from online conservatives that he was replaced by a “body double” during his absence from the Senate earlier this year. Republicans allege in their impeachment inquiry that Biden used his influence to help his son’s business and other misconduct, but investigators have not yet released evidence to support their claims. https://thehill.com/blogs/in-the-kn...vnuZb1Jtcoz82Glwp-1LmoDBjwNmo_LCBXcptghY

It’s about time a Democrat lawmaker is starting to fight back toe to toe. Time for more to step up their game and stop wetting the bed and start fighting back.
