"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Is it a one pm Sunday kickoff? Don't make me do math from ninety hours out, Where's my calculator, obviously not in my brain.

ONe day 299 hours
I mean uhh,
23 hours and negative 8 minutes.

Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

Unfortunately, 1 and a half hours before kickoff, I'll be donning the umpire gear for a double header softball game starting at noon. An ex neighbor has a daughter doing the games. She's still in high school. I hate to do games by myself, although I do - but I couldn't let a girl do these travel team games by herself. Plus, as I've learned over 8 years, the best way to get better is to do games, and do games with those with more experience. I've been on the bottom end, and I can help those newbies. I was a newbie at one point. Just 2 nights ago I asked a guy that's been doing it for 16 years a question. You never know it all.

So, tomorrow at 4:15 or 4:30 I'll start watching the Browns.

In Toledo, it's Opera Week.

Sitzprobe (pronounced: "zits-probe-uh") is Sunday, at 1 PM.

When we are forced to do Opera on Sundays, everyone in the band knows to talk to clem about anything/everything other than Cleveland Browns Football. They know that I record the games, and refrain from any talk of current Sunday football-related events. It's been a social norm of ours for at least 2 decades. I love that My Colleagues do this for me.

Sometimes, they almost can't help themselves, on particularly spicy Browns Sundays.
On those occasions, they'll be all like: "Dude- wait 'til you get home to see what your Brownies did today..."

It's a whole thing for them.
They love teasing me with this mess.

This is one of the things I'll miss when I eventually leave this tight-knit community: the fact that we not only come together for Real Time common causes on a regular basis, but also that almost 100 people know me well enough to not spoil a 'Clemdawg Sunday Surprise,' while NFL Football Season is still ongoing.

I'll be one of the last of us Dawgs to know how this Sunday's 1PM game plays out.
I'm OK with that... and my colleagues love me enough to keep me in the dark on Sunday afternoons.

I like opera music ....... but much of the singing leaves me cold.

Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

Me 2, occasionally.... but I also understand why it has resonated with so many people, for more than 200 years.

Many attendees come specifically for the singing, along with the spectacle.

After all, these singers have spent a lifetime training themselves to do something that only a fraction of a percentage of Humanity can actually do.
They have trained their voices to fill a space that is home to 1,000+ witnesses, without microphones or sound reinforcement of any kind. That is special in its own right.

They are artists of the highest order, and physical athletes the likes of which we only see on NFL Sundays.

I've been in The Music-making Game for decades, YTown- and I'm telling you: I've played Classics Concerts with the biggest names in the biz. I've played arena gigs with big name Rock/Pop/Country acts. And to this day, the best, most energetic gigs I've ever done were Opera gigs. There is no single event that combines the immediacy of the moment with energy that flows back from the crowd as I've experienced doing Opera gigs.

If the singing "leaves you cold," I suggest that you simply haven't listened to enough of it to find yourself in the space I live in.

Please keep at it.
One day in the future, you'll hear it. You'll hear it.

I promise you this.

Getting back on track:
There are too many variables to actually call this game.

Too many reg players (on both sides) sidelined.
Too many backups inked in as game time players.
Too many regs penned in as "outs" to call this game.

Like all division games, this one is a total toss-up.
Elves need to bring it, if they want to establish their place in the AFCN.

This home game could do well to establish the AFCN power structure, going forward. Bang hard on BAL, and CLE could complete its fast start out the gate.
A 3-1 record (...and 2-1 divisional record) puts CLE in a position to write its own 2nd chapter script. This team couldn't ask for more of a start like that, despite the loss of #24, so early in the season.

CLE can win this game.
This could be the year that upends the previous power balance.
If CLE can take down BAL, PIT will become a latter-day also-ran, in the process.

Win the division games.
The rest will sort itself out, in the fullness of Time.

We've got some really great weather for the game today. Should be real nice out, around 71 degrees. No rain.

3 hours and 20 minutes to go.
