What does everyone think the turning point in the Browns season was? IMHO it would have to be the Bengals game in week 2. If we lose that game we are looking at an 0-2 record and a deep hole to dig out of. What are everyones thoughts or opinons?

in my opinion i thought it was the baltimore game, the second one...

the browns blew a comfortable lead in pittsburgh, and now we have to go on the road to baltimore? (at the time, baltimore was still respectable) i thought there was a great chance we'd lose and start to collapse

it never happened. they continued to stay their course, do their thing, and stick together, and 9-5 backs that up....

but that's just an opinion, you could say the turning point came in week 2 against cincinnati and you wouldn't be wrong...

but for me, that entire last few minutes, and overtime changed the entire landscape of this team, a road divisional victory... a big one

I think that the 2nd game of the season showed the team what they were capable of .... and that the switch to Anderson was the right decision.

With the demoralizing loss to the Steelers, and the uncertainty among the players after seeing the starting QB shipped out ...... and all of the negative press at the time .... it was a perfect time for the team to fold. They didn't ... and they have built the season with that game being the first step.

Theres been so many that could be it.

Me? I think it was the Seattle game. It showed that we belonged with the teams that would be in the playoffs. It showed that we completely could overcome anything. It gave us the confidence we needed to go to Pittsburgh and jump out to a big lead and feel like we deserved to win the game. If not for winning against Seattle we dont feel so badly about losing to Pitt. I think instead we think oh man, it happened again.

I think the Seattle game gave us the confidence we needed to make it as far as we have since.

I honestly think we have had a couple of turning points. 1) back to back wins vs St Louis and Seattle - we were down by 14+ in each and came back to win both 2) The loss to AZ - this showed them they can take nothing for granted and need to show up and play each and every week.

Agreed. We had been kind of up and down to that point.

We had showed we could beat the teams we were supposed to beat. And we showed we could lose the games we were supposed to lose.

We were still a bit of an unknown when Seattle came around. And we were able to beat a good team in a come from behind victory.

I think that's when the team knew they could make a season of it.

LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

For me there were (and still are) several "turning points" or hurdles this team had/has to make:

#1 week 2 vs. CIN

- going from "worst NFL team" to "not THAT lousy and halfway respectable"

#2 week 4 vs. BAL

- regaining the "halfway decent" label PLUS getting the "team that can come back from adversity"-label after that terrible loss in OAK

#3 weeks 5-8

- beating bad teams and playing respectable against the Pats...."we thought who we thought we are"

#4 week 9 vs. SEA

- maybe we are even a "mid-level team", winning a close 1 at home against a +-.500 team

#5 week 12 vs. HOU

- after 2 tough and close Division games we dominate an up and coming team who still had PO hopes, best overall team performance...here in my mind we reached "above-average" status.....it´s when I started thinking "maybe even POs"

#6 comes this week in CIN

- can we finally get rid of that little "Murphy-law-man" in our heads? This will be the biggest jump for this team imho....not so much because of the opponent (even though a divison AND state foe for whom this game is their SB is enough to handle) but more because of the pressure and meaning this game has...

think about it: now that we´ve arrived that far, wouldn´t it just suck if we fail to reach the POs? with a 10-6 record? being in the drivers seat to get there?

This game is huge because of so many reasons...it´s the biggest hurdle and would mean the biggest TURNAROUND for this team....young team, possible invaluable PO-experience looming....we took baby-steps to get here, I fear a loss (and PO-miss) could destroy a lot of the morale and other achievements of this years team

so, basically: biggest turnaround has yet to come imho....the "PO-contender" step

Go Browns

Don't know about this season, but if we can beat the Steelers in the first rd of the P/O's that will be the turning point for this franchise.

Wrote this up in another post on here that goes back to the Pitt game.

When the players stood up and said blame me, that was it. We had a team, a team of players that takes responsiblity for their jobs. When the team stopped pointing fingers, and started believing in each other, and the team concept that was the turning point. Perhaps someday fans will understand the importance of this simple deed. BLAME ME. It wasn't a game it was an act, and unselfish, team 1st act that every single player took part in...

I think the loss to NE was the turning point of the season...we were still wallowing in mediocrity and found out in that game, we can play with ANYBODY. We don't have to mail it in, cause the press thinks we suck. After that, they run off 3 straight and change the complexity of this season.

This week is the turning point for this franchise...this will really let us know where we're headed...can we seal the deal on our own accord.

To me is has to be the Cincy game. I don't think the players knew they could put up that many points against anyone. That game showed that they can score at will. Also showed that they can fight through the whole game to get the win. It erased any doubt that Savage did the right thing by letting Charlie go and RAC naming DA the starter. It gave not only DA confidence in himself but it also gave his teammates confidence that he could get the ball to them and allow them to make plays.
