This guy wanted nearly full control in Berea back when he was interviewed. Bullet dodged.

McDaniels followed that unwritten rule of "he's not my QB" or "we can't win with that QB" for a second time that totally backfired. A Raiders playoff team in 2021, McDaniels was expected to take the Raiders over the hump - instead he busted the team up namely at the QB position.
The NFL is still a league that's all about winning. Keep in mind, McDaniels lost his QB to injury for 2 games this season too. The old story of "excuses are like azzholes, everyone has one" has reared its ugly head again. As Vince Lombardi always said: "just Win Baby" is as true today as it was in the 60's. There's many more HC's and FO's sitting on the win or else hotseat. McDaniels is just the first to go - Stay Tuned!

he'll never get another HC job ... he was a disaster both places
Raiders are not a good team at all, especially on offense
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

"Just win Baby" was All Davis not Vince Lombardi.
Fire everyone sure has worked for all those teams in the AFC West.
Let's see there is KC.
17 head coaches have filled the position for: Chargers, Raiders, and Broncos since Reid has coached the Chiefs.
Current record for those teams 9-14.
Just win baby.

As Vince Lombardi always said: "just Win Baby" I think that was Al Davis.

I don't know anything about him outside of the fact he is Michael Lombardi's kid. So....it was probably a good move no matter what.

It wasn't a question of if, but when. Now we know when.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Whoops, got my quotes mixed - Vince's was "Show me a good loser and I'll show you a loser." It's hard to sell yourself when you're sporting a .375 winning pct immediately following a playoff year unless you're a Stefanski who can turn in 2 complete seasons of a .441 winning percentage immediately following a playoff year. Of course, when your team has been to 5 Super Bowls and winning three, the expectation level might be a little higher. I guess that string even gets a little shorter when your division archrival has been to 3 of the last 4 Super Bowls.

I don't understand "he had Pierce speak on his behalf" in a team meeting to air everyone's grievances.
LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

I don't understand "he had Pierce speak on his behalf" in a team meeting to air everyone's grievances. A lot of dots need to be connected in that tweet. Here's the whole thing: Before firing Josh McDaniels, the Raiders had a team meeting where players directed their frustrations at McDaniels, and unloaded on him.
McDaniels had Antonio Pierce speak on his behalf, and Pierce brought up the Giants' '07 team that beat the undefeated Patriots, explaining how that team believed they could beat anyone. Pierce said the Raiders need that mindset.
The players all loved it, but McDaniels didn't.
McDaniels told Pierce when everyone left: "Don't ever talk about the Patriots like that."
That's when everyone saw how divided the building was, and owner Mark Davis wanted Pierce as his HC.

Tom Brady was a security blanket for a lot of people wasn't he? Honestly I don’t know if we’ll ever truly know how much Brady carried that coaching staff.

Well, when you look at the track record of all BB's assistants who went on to coach elsewhere there hasn't been much success. Maybe Mike Vrabel in Tennesse but he was a player first.

Tom Brady was a security blanket for a lot of people wasn't he? Honestly I don’t know if we’ll ever truly know how much Brady carried that coaching staff. I have a pretty good feeling it was mostly Brady in NE and in TB…..and Gronk didn’t hurt that success.

It was both.
Great players make their coaches look great, but those rosters weren't full of Tom Brady's. They were full of role players. Conversely, bad or mediocre coaches, as we've seen WAY too many times here in Cleveland, can utterly waste a talent laden roster.
It takes both, and still requires luck.

It's also probable that Don Shula wouldn't have won as many games and championships if he didn't have Johnny Unitas, Bob Griese, and Dan Marino. Lombardi would have missed Bart Starr. Paul Brown never won a pro championship without Otto Graham as his QB.
