The following OSU starters are laeving early: LB Marcus Freeman
DE Vernon Gholston
WR Brian Hartline
CB Malcolm Jenkins
LB James Laurinaitis
WR Brian Robiskie
I think we have a definate need for LBs but many of these players will not be high drafts and they are all very good. Golston is especially great at pass rush and run stopping. Freeman is good but not a top pick. Laurinaitis is outstanding and would really help us unfortunately he is a top 20 pick.
Robiske is a real talent and should benefit any team and is not a selfish player alot like Gonzales and has CLeveland ties. hartline is also good but probably not a top pick and maybe available second day.
Jenkins is a real talent and has starting ability but is probably a first round pick. He is big and strong and could play CB or S.
I always see us miss OSU talent and that seems a waste since the Buckeyes are always loaded with top players. They would probably like to stay around home.

You don't draft players just because they went to the state college.
The Browns aren't going to draft someone just because they were a buckeye, they'll draft who they think is worth it.
you had a good run Hank.

Gholston will be long gone before we ever get a chance at him.

Are you speculating that they are leaving early or is this a known fact, because I don't see Hartline or Freeman leaving early. If they do, they would be making a huge mistake. The other players I could see leaving early, but def not Hartline and Freeman.
Also, it's ubsurd to draft a player based on the school they went to. Yes I'm a Buckeye fan and I would love to see many of them on the Browns (so I could continue rooting for them) but I want the best player and that isn't always a Buckeye.

None of these buckeyes as far as i know have even said anything about leaving earily, im sure most of them will wait until after the national championship to decied....so they can focus on one game and then what they will do.
And i agree Freeman is just starting to play his first full season after missing 2 seasons i think it was due to injury and then hartline is just starting to get recognized after this year and last year, it would be a huge mistake. As for Jenkins and Gholston well we will just have to wait and see, James is staying as far as i know, he was trying to talk Jenkins into staying from what i have heard as well.
But like everyone said, don't assume they are leaving because they are some of the best buckeyes on the team...it doesnt mean they are the best in the NCAA or future Pro bowlers in the NFL...

No but if there are two players of equal caliber you can bet Savage will bring in the Buckeye. He's made it clear he likes local talent.

If your talking about what I think your talking about you got me there.
Savage has shown a love for those sooners. At first I thought you were talking about Travis Wilson but then I realized there wasn't any good Ohio State players around where he was selected.

A bunch of OSU juniors requested their draft projection, like a lot of juniors across the country. It's just see where they'd be projected to go if they entered the draft. There's no obligation. None of those guys have said one way or the other. Some of them will go, some will not.

This is what I remember reading somewhere,,, and I haven't heard anything that said any of those listed have actually committed to the Draft this year....
So speculation about them seems quite a bit premature.. JMO however

Gholston & Laurinaitis are, most likely, top 20 picks. Of the list you mentioned, the only one I'd want would be Gholston and that would be to convert him to ILB ala Tedy Bruschi to replace Andra Davis. You can have the rest.

I'm just curious, what Buckeyes have we passed on that turned out to be a mistake?

Well lets see,
How about in ' 01 when we took Warren when we could have had Nate Clements. or ' 02 when we took Green when we could have had a healthy Bentley.
or in ' 04 when we could have drafted Shane Olivea, one of LT's blockers in San Diego.
Not saying i would like to see a bunch of Buckeyes on the Browns but those are a few picks i'd like to have back.

Dude, Olivea went like 200th... we could go back and cherry pick every draft and figure out who we should have taken...
I'm not arguing that our drafts were great or even good for a long time.. but to say we screwed up because we didn't focus on Ohio State is just silly.

I never said that. You asked who we passed on from OSU that turned out to be a mistake and i gave you 3 examples.
