https://awfulannouncing.com/nfl/peacock-exclusively-air-nfl-wild-card-game-january.html

From the article…

“Per the Wall Street Journal, NBC and the NFL have agreed to a one-year deal to exclusively air a Wild Card playoff game in January.”

“In the markets participating, the game will also air on the local NBC affiliates.

Peacock also streams NBC’s NFL schedule, though a subscription isn’t necessary to watch games. It will be for this game.”

I hope it’s not the Browns game. This type of thing is BS. I paid good money for the Season Ticket. Getting locked out of any game, let alone a playoff game is absurd.
For those like me, out of market, have a plan just in case we Browns fans get screwed into that game. I’ll pay the stupid monthly subscription fee but begrudgingly, and cancel immediately. I’m not paying for Friends reruns.

This is money grab BS. You cant even watch it in a bar because bars dont carry peacock. I know because I drove to multiple bars last night to try to find the Chargers game. None of them had it.

$110 billion buys you a lot.

It was pretty clear the ticket is for regular season game. I bought it this year and have enjoyed watching at home if I wasn't at the game.

Face it folks, it will all be PBV in a few years.

so, we are all just assuming that our playoff game will be the one chosen, right?

I suppose like Prime for Thursday night games. If you can sell something, why give it away? Maybe not very fan friendly but the NFL hasn't been very fan friendly for many years.

well, so it's just a game that won't be watched all that much. I'm sure some people will be dumb enough to sign up for a service just to get the one game, but really, it won't be enough.

Nevermind... humans are stupid. They absolutely will sign up for it just to get a single game.

Browns is the Browns

In the Atlanta market NBC and CBS is being blocked out with a dispute with directv.

Can't watch Sunday games on local tv which includes Sunday night. Greed wins.

I pay for the youtube nfl ticket. It really is a mess streaming games from all these different services.

Pisses me off for sure.

I have both Direct Tv and YouTubeTV. I watch most tv via DirectTV. It’s easier to navigate, flip between channels, etc. Thankfully having YouTubeTV has given me access to NBC while Direct TV squabbles with them. Ultimately I think DirectTV is in it death throes. Losing the Season Ticket was a huge blow to their subscription holders.
I got a really good deal on the YouTubeTV/Season Ticket package. Then called DirectTV and threatened to cancel. They gave me a sweet deal for a year contract. It made having both services, and the NFL package, cost about the same as what paid for just DirectTV and the Season Ticket in years past. The reality is I’ll likely drop DirectTV when my contract is up. I really only had it because of their hold on the NFL. It kinda sucks though because I HATE the YouTubeTV interface. (I use a Roku) It’s clumsy. It’s not intuitive. It’s hard to easily flip between two programs without multiple steps. It sucks. Badly. Really really badly.

I did the same thing to directv.

I have to have Bally Sports locally to watch the Braves. So I got youtube nfl only.

When directv had the NFL package alone. It was way better than streaming.

I really wish I could select a game and pay per game. I can only watch non Browns games if they are close games.

Tonight I do want to see the Niners beat the Ravens. Miami is a tough matchup for the Ravens next week.

I really believe we can win the North.

I'm amazed that people are just now getting upset by the consequences of unbridled capitalism. Same as it ever was.

Same in Houston... thankfully, I decided to switch to YouTubeTV just to get the NFL package... but my in-laws have been pissed because they watch CBS all the time... I'm trying to talk them into switching but they are pretty set on DirectTV

I’m not ‘just now getting upset’ by it, but this has just been the most recent example. One that’s effecting me… again.

And I guess that's my point. While it doesn't pertain to everyone, most people don't really care about a lot of things until it hits close to home.

I don't even mind paying more, I just get annoyed with having to have SO many apps or streaming services to watch what I want

Just get them a cheapo Roku stick and give them your YouTubeTV password.

As I said, I can see us vs Jacksonville as their choice to be on Peacock. It seems to fit

I already carry peacock, but hell it’s only like $8 a month if you really want to see that game.

It’s not the $8. It’s the fact I already pay for DirectTv, YouTubeTV, Amazon Prime, the Season Ticket, and home internet. Now I’m being asked to pay $8 for another service I really don’t want, only to watch one game. Enough already. Let me ‘buy my team’ and get every game they play. I’ll pay the premium. I’m just tired of having to have 10 different platforms to do so. Especially when I don’t use most of them for much except for watching the team I want to watch.

The other major sports leagues have pretty much gotten it figured out. NHL is probably the most poorly run league out there and even they had single-team streaming options at least 5 years ago. Baseball, as stuck in the past as it is, has a fully built out streaming options. For some reason these leagues don't have anywhere near the same problems with antiquated TV blackouts and greed.

This is only a problem because it's allowed to be a problem, and why I feel exactly zero guilt spending no money watching Browns games in Cinci.

There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

I just scrolled through my YouTubeTV guide to next Saturday. They show the game airing.
I hope the Stiller fans get jobbed into the Peacock game. They didn’t deserve the playoff berth anyway.

I just shelled out the $6 for this *censored* platform just to see the Browns play.

The moment the Wild Card games are over, I'll cancel. And the NFL can add me as one of their SUCKERS.

I wish the NFL would..."censored"

Looks like Dolphins/chiefs get the peacock game. People need to boycott it. If this succeeds, it will lead to more games behind the paywall.

I actually already have Peacock. However, unless it was going to be the Browns game, I had no intentions of watching it for that reason.

So you just shelled out $6 to watch a Browns game because "you thought" it was going to be on Peacock and it's not even going to be on Peacock? rofl

Looks like maybe you should have waited to find out if it was going to be on Peacock first huh?

It figures our game is on NBC this Saturday..... I have DirecTV, that's it, no streaming services. We haven't gotten NBC for quite some time now:

I have a digital antenna but it doesn't pick up NBC. I guess I'll try my luck with some of the free streaming sites to watch the game. (?)
