I’ve been listening to a lot more standup as of late. It’s easy to fall into a YouTube rabbit hole of great comedy. Many, if not most comedians, work blue, making posting clips to share here on DT, not board appropriate. It doesn’t preclude us from encouraging each other to seek out new comedians, suggested here, on our own.
Currently the guy that is busting me up is Tom Segura. He’s got a special called Sledghammer that’s easy to find excerpts from on YouTube. Good stuff. He’s been around for quite awhile but I feel like he’s really found his voice with this special.
I could list a bunch of others but would rather we each share our favorite current ONE.
Again, mine is Tom Segura. Do yourself a favor and look him up.
Michael Palascak. I'm biased on this front because he was my college room (house) mate. Also a Browns fan. Great dude. He's been on Last Comic Standing and all the late night shows. He actually has a bit about me, but I won't share that here
Other than that, Nate Bargatze is awesome. He's clever, all appealing and doesn't try to hard to fill a niche, which is rare these days. His style of humor is seamless. He's probably my front runner out of the big names.
Sebastian Maniscalco. I've always liked his style. He's very entertaining.
Mark Normand is good. Pushes the boundaries without being cringey or shock-based, which is what I like.
I used to like Jim Gaffigan, but his last few have been real mail-ins.
John Mulaney is classic.
Fortune Feimster is very good.
Iliza Schlesinger also good.

Dave Chappelle is my current, past and future favorite. He's the GOAT. I'm eagerly awaiting the day when there is a smaller gap between him and #2.
To be fair to the rest of the field, I'll go with Nate Bargatze. A master of making the simple, sometimes overlooked things in today's world hilarious.
Chappelle is in my HOF. - An all time great. Sorry to go in a different direction here but my Mt. Rushmore for comedy is: Richard Pryor, Sam Kinnison, Andrew Dice Clay, AND Dave Chappelle.
I also hold Martin Lawrence, Tommy Davidson, David Alan Grier , and Damon Wayans in high regard.
Also, Sebastian Maniscalco is an up and comer. I love him as well.

Come on now, I asked for one per post! Lol All good. Many of those same comedians would have made my list too.
He's also my cousin. If he's going to be in Ft. Wayne, wife and I will be there - although March is filling up fast with softball games to ump.
Are the rest of your cousins movie stars? Are there any normal people in your family?? Geez lol.
I'll PM you if we're going, unfortunately we'll have to wait a bit as we're anticipating moving home to Ohio within the next few months... just playing the waiting game with GM.

No, the rest aren't. I'm the bum of the family, truthfully. But I do have a cousin that I call Grizzly Adams. He can and will out hunt and out fish most people.
Most of the rest? Eh, millionaires (Crist, GNT, and others - doctors, etc)
But yeah, GNT, Crist, Crist's dad (Johnny), surgeons, orthodontists, h.s. principals, business owners, etc.

YOU CAN'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO!!!

Ha! He's definitely not for the masses, but he's very good at what he does. I can usually take a good joke, but sometimes he still has me going "Wow!" which I guess is part of his routine.
What I really do miss - and I feel like in the modern era of sensitivity, it's gone out of style - are the roasts. I really don't want to make this political whatsoever, but his roast of Trump back in the day (pre-Presidential run) was amazing. I miss seeing a lot of those. The Justin Bieber roast was also top notch.
Speaking of which, the Bumping Mikes special on Netflix with Jeff Ross and Dave Attel was good.

No, Jeselnik isn't for everybody and is certainly an acquired taste. For me when I watch his stand up I'm too busy laughing to go wow. And bumping mics was great! Bill Burr is another one I really like.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.
Bargatze is awesome. Was about to go and see him here in Cinci this past weekend.
His delivery is unreal.
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.
He has a stand up special on Netflix as of 2023 called Old Dad's". I'd call that current. I brought him up earlier in the thread and I think someone else did as well. He is hilarious!

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Ricky Gervais. One of my favorites, and his genius definitely goes beyond the stand up stage. His new Netflix special "Armageddon" is really good.
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
John 14:19 Jesus said: Because I live, you also will live.

Oh ok haha. I usually read threads and the thoughts of others before I respond, but sometimes I don’t.

I was wrong. Another cousin (and these are all second cousins, but each of them would know me by sight) Amanda Siebert was just recently on Shark Tank, with her husband and a friend.
