Damn shame Lowell George could not be sober.

Such a talented guy. Loved his voice. The band was tight. They had it going on but could not keep it going.

I have heard people say this and that about various rock drummers. IMO everyone else is second best.

My best friend's brother was the baritone sax player in this band. A group of us went to see the band play in Syracuse. I was no more than ten feet away from Buddy when he did this solo. His hands were like two hummingbirds.

Buddy Rich was a childhood hero of mine. He was just magic. I wanted to be like him as a drummer ..... but I never got anywhere close.

Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

No shame.

IMO he was the best. There are many styles of drummers. I am not one to really say who is the best because of how drummers work inside bands.

But Buddy had major chops. He was a master. Soloing is sometimes frowned upon. Buddy could play inside but he made a living as a feature musician because of what he could do with sticks.

I think Buddy Rich was the inspiration for many of the great drummers who followed. There are greats that inspire others. They are few and far between. Just like some of the early blues artists inspired what came to become R&R. Artists such as Robert Johnson and Lead Belly. We owe so much of the music we have listened to in our life to the musicians who came before it.

So true.

Someone lights the spark in a youngster. They hear and it sticks inside.

Woody Guthrie struck a chord in Dylan. Instead of love songs by crooners. He heard words to live by.

An all too familiar story for many from that part of the country.

As a kid I spent many months in Alabama with my mothers parents. While there I learned about Polk Salad...or sallet.

It was just a weed we would go pick, but it was pretty darn tasty. Toxic if eaten raw, but cooked it tasted like turnip or mustard greens.

Billy Joe White turned it in to a kick ass song.

FATE:

Love me some Shel Silverstein.
I became a fan when I was 15 years old.

Look up/read: "The Devil and Billy Markham."
That was my first contact with his work.

PLEEZE: don't listen to some lameass YooToob version that might be available. Read it, and Listen to it in your own voice- as it spins out, In Real Time.
I read this opus way back in HS, when I found it- just after the centerfold of a 'borrowed' copy of my Pops' Playboy Magazine.

I'd link it to this site, but the content and language would get it bounced from DT, post-haste.

The Rolling Stones are excited to announce that the blues rock superstar Joe Bonamassa will join the STONES TOUR '24 HACKNEY DIAMONDS as a guest artist in Seattle, WA on Wednesday, May 15 at Lumen Field.

Jade just told me. That is pretty damn cool.

I gave her a request. Try and see if any of the Stones or their people would have a contact to get a print of the Beggars Banquet inside jacket picture of the banquet.

I have always loved that photo. I bought the album when it came out but it got lost in time.

I've come across a few vids by this elderly woman. I get overcome with a feeling of peace and relaxation listening to her.

No apologies here. I liked the Carpenters. Karens voice was gold. It's rare that a woman can hit those lower notes as smoothly as she could while still being able to get in to the higher register. Her brother Richard was a great musician and arraigner, not to mention a good back-up singer.

It's a sexy song and I don't know who was blowing the sax, but they could make that reed work.

Not really a song, but a great vid about Ringo.

OK, a few bad words in here, so if you are in the 3rd grade, don't listen.

I loved that.

I always loved Ringo as a drummer for all those reasons. Some musicians have a very distinct sound.

That was him.

This is a new track made by modern tech for an older star. For those that don’t know Randy Travis, he had a massive stroke a few years back that robbed him of his voice. A voice that made me like country music for a spell. I still think Randy had one of the most unique voices in music. The stroke took away a songbird's gift. Ai has restored it. At least as well as can be expected by modern times.
Randy worked with the tech geniuses, music producers, and another singer to create this track in his iconic voice.

This is the story behind the song…
