They deserve to lose after purposely setting up a series with a no talent team they thought they would walk all over.
Then they’ve come out and showed that if a no talent team just played tougher they’d still lose.
This team is a joke. How can Garland play so bad in the clutch?

Its a team of Betas. They are so mentally and physically fragile, any pressure or physicality ruins them and they can't overcome. One player had more than half the points.. thats not going to get you anywhere.. I don't think people realize how bad Orlando is. If by some miracle they win game 7, they'll be swept the next round.. this team does not have a playoff mentality or ability, alot of that is on JB and Altman

Watching the start of game 7. I didn't keep count but it it feels like an 8-1 shot to pass ratio. Only 4 points coming out of that. These guys are not a team rather a bunch of individual players wearing the same jerseys

If we lose this game, how many days before JB is canned?

While it was nice the Cavs finally won a series without lebron, Still same issues there.. the heroics of Mitchell won't be enough against Boston. I just hope Gilbert doesn't think that beating a dreg team like magic in 7 means that JB is doing a good job.. I'd say we won despite him. Mitchell was not going to let us lose.. That being said, I feel alot better about mitchell now.. I think he figured out the effort required of him in the playoffs. Now its about getting him help. Garland is not the guy, I don't think Mobley is either, I'd trade Mobley and Garland for Banchero and Suggs and I think we would be alot better off. Strus and Levert finally got some traction. Mobley did protect paint better and got rebounds while Allen's vagina heals. But man there is nothing behind them on the depth chart. I don't like the seeding. so if 1 seed plays the 8 seed, why would they play the the 4 seed instead of the 6 seed.. just seems like first seed has alot easier path, which i get. We may be the 4 seed, but we have the hardest path. Other thing that sucks about this series going 7 is only 2 days of rest, while boston has been resting since thursday.

When we were down about 20, I had given up hopes of closing it out. Our part-time injured bench and the no-score posse really were lousy in this series. Still, enough effort and playmaking to win. I do not like our chances in the next round. Maybe JB can figure out the best player combos; I am not certain that he is what we need coaching. Pretty sure we need to "fix" the roster and figure out who can (and cannot) do certain jobs reliably and consistently. Glad for the win and the inspirational comeback today. Wine and Gold will have to shine or fold against Celtics. Go, Cavaliers!

Looks like he should be down at the ymca. you just described 85% of the Cavs roster.. A good coach would be able to find a way to use merrill

How long do cavs fans have to wait for Mobley and Garland grow up? Mobley looks petrified of the moment. Where’s the competitive fire?

Merrill is not an nba player. lol, yeah he is.. by that description neither is niang. When Merrill was getting consistent minutes he would light it up.. Niang and strus were two of the worst signings ever.. both almost always have a negative +/-.. But to your point about garland and mobley... they are busts.. period. You can't teach toughness and want to.. Cavs are missing alot of both. JB and Altman era should end in 3 more games.. We don't match up at a single position with Boston.. this will be 4 straight 20+ point blowout.. probably 30+ most games. If I'm mitchell, I'm running away as soon as I can if this staff comes back

We’ll have to agree to disagree on Merrill. The rest we agree on.
I think the Cavs need a tough minded coach that will hold these guys to a standard and forcefully get Mobley to develop. Get rid of Garland as well. Awful defender, can’t perform in the clutch, and also hasn’t developed. No killer instinct as well. At least Mobley is going to give you rebounding and defense.

I’m watching these other teams in the playoffs with young solid cores. The Cavs have missed on so many high picks…Sexton, Garland, Mobley, Okoro. They’ve gone from a promising future to really no future. There’s no way Mitchell would want to stay and endure this. I’d tear it down and completely rebuild it if he wants out.

I think that the majority of this team's problems are coaching related, not necessarily all personnel related.
I would not be opposed to seeing what we could get for Garland, but he has really tailed off under JB. I believe that this is a usage problem more than anything. JB uses his players in fluctuating roles and assignments, sometimes which do not fit their abilities. I think that Mobley is a fine player. I don't get the hate for him by some on this board.
We need a new coach.

Mobley hasn’t developed at all since he came into the league, three years in now.
It’s either coaching or the player or both.
I know I wouldn’t let him have a summer off.
His lack of development will likely cost the team Mitchell.

I think a big problem last night was the team being tired. I am not saying they would have won the game, but it wouldn't have been as lopsided.
Fatigue shows up mostly on the defensive end, and it did.

I agree that the Cavs need a new coach and will be looking for one this offseason. The quality of coach they can land will likely be determined on if Mitchell decides to sign his extension or not.
I think Garland's problems are for the most part his own. His confidence is shattered and you can see his teammates constantly trying to encourage him and pick him up. Would another team take on his contract?
Koby Altman should be looking over his shoulder. The roster construction has not worked out. The offense is better with one big and they run a 1-3-1 and can space the floor, and I do not see a scenario in which they give up on Mobley. Do they move Allen? The other problem is Max Strus is not a 3 point shooter. He's a streaky shooter.
It will be interesting to see what CavsDan does this offseason.
Worst case scenario it all comes unraveled, the team stinks and I'm back to sitting second or third row courtside like I'm Spike Lee for about $85/ticket. Glass half-full!

I think the offseason should go like this, get rid of the current coaching staff and altman, Bring in proven team builders.. Man i would write a blank check to get a guy like Brad Stevens in any capacity. But next, Move mitchell while he still has value and try to get some draft capital, Move on from the likes of just about everyone on the bench except Levert. Strus/Niang as well. Try to get something for Garland or mobley, which ever nets the best return, Mobley i can see staying with a new coach that might be able to get something out of him.. One thing that has been proven is Allen is very productive without mobley in the lineup, can't say the same for mobley. But we def have a personnel issue.. Altman giving up 88 million for strus/niang should be a fireable offense. We are back to same issues, noone wants to play here because we don't have a superstar(lebron, mitchell non withstanding) and superstars don't come here or stay because we can't build a good team and coaching around them. This team is undisciplined and soft, two things that will get you swept in the playoffs. I really don't have an answer.. all I know is they have ALOT of work to do this offseason, I sense fans are kinda tired of waiting around.. its been 8 years since we won the championship. Dan Gilbert is going to have his work cut out for him this offseason. I think one of the biggest mistakes we made was including Markhanen in the trade and not mobley

Saw a trade idea today on Bleacher Report:
Cavs get - Markaaneen
Jazz get - Mobley, Okoro, and our ‘24 first round pick.

Mobley is just such a liability on offense. He really gives us nothing
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

yeah Boston was def off tonight and Cavs capitalized...was good to see.. Mitchell was very active today, especially being vocal and animated trying to lead everyone. Levert was huge tonight, Garland made a few shots like he can do but his ball handling and turnovers are just not acceptable. Need to capitalize on taking home court, Boston hasn't faced much adversity this year.. Lets see how they do. Pleasant surprise tonight for sure

Can’t revert back to being soft. One game doesn’t mean anything if you don’t give the same effort every game. It’s ok to lose if you get out skilled by another team; it’s not ok because you’re soft, scared, no sense of urgency, no competitive fire, etc.
The Celtics are good but they aren’t your typical one seed with a legit top 5 player that’s nearly impossible to beat. They’re beatable.

j/c... Mobley is legend. Mitchell for MVP. JB Bickerstaff CoY. Garland with a scrappy night. Seven boards. Extend Okoro! LeVert sixth man of the year. CavsDan can rest easy this offseason.

It's pretty funny reading some of the comments heading up to tonight's game. One of these guys pizzed an moaned all the way to the title in 2016. The concept of enjoying the ride is completely foreign to them. I honestly don't know why they watch sports if they're so miserable all the time. Did anybody really expect the Cavs to make it to the 3rd round this year?

I just can't imagine people giving up on a 22 year old Mobley who, despite what people claim, has developed since he has been in the league. You'd have to give up on Garland long before Mobley. I'd agree with that. But how has Mobley developed? What is he doing now that he wasn't doing as a rookie? No changes in strength or body structure. No noticeable offensive improvements. No go to moves. On a nightly basis, he's the team's 4th or 5th scoring option. Generally displays a lack of aggression. His defense has always been solid. If someone wants to make the argument or take the bet that he will still improve, i don't think that's a winning nor a losing bet. You just don't know. You can also blame their babysitter, JB, on Mobley's lack of development, and I think there's merit to that. But to pretend he has improved is disingenuous at best. This guy was being mentioned as one of the top 5 up and coming players in the nba after his rookie season. Now he's an afterthought. Wouldn't make a top 10 or maybe even top 15 list of up and coming young players.

that looked more like what the reality is. Mitchell has ZERO help.. Thompson might be the worst player I've seen in my lifetime, if he wasnt 6'10 he'd be working at home depot. This team has 4 1st round picks on the team and only 1 of them is any good. I know 5 people in my rec league that could take okoro one on one. What a bust that dude is.. again, strus/niang= garbage.. I know JB is probably gone and he should be because some of his rotations are mind numbing. The sets are even worse, watching boston get shot after shot after they run their offense and see shooters coming off screens then watch our guys pound the air out of the ball and never do anything to get someone open. Or watching guys beat their guy off the dribble then not know what to do next and either turn it over or dribble it back out and rinse/repeat. But as bad as JB is, Altman is worse.. this team sucks from the talent department. The worst player on boston would be our second best, and they haven't even played Porzingas. Zero chance this goes more than 6, this was the last hurrah, much like miami stole one then boston took care of business. Mitchell played almost 44 minutes tonight.. thats desperation by JB and shows you how bad this team is because it wasn't even close. Hats off to mitchell, he did all he could.. Its even harder because teams know to just box in mitchell and don't worry about anyone else.. It feels alot like 2007 cavs and lebron

I liked the perimeter defense or at least the effort. However, whenever Boston turned the corner they easily got to the basket.
But it was really the same story. Mitchell is awesome. Everyone else has their moments but are either inconsistent (Okoro, Strus), soft (Garland, Wade), or just plain bad (Merrill).

Its def. not going to keep mitchell here... you have idiots like Terry Pluto saying mitchell shouldn't be so aggressive so others are forced to produce... can't even take that guy serious with comments like that.. If mitchell wasn't aggressive this would be a 30 point loss. The issue is not mitchell. Literally the only one that isn't a problem in the whole org.
