Just spoke with GM's wife, and GM came through his surgery and is recovering. He has been up and walking a bit. He's been a nauseous with clear liquids, but full liquids have been more difficult. I know that he appreciates prayers.

Thanks for the update YTown. I'm sure that many of us, me included wanted to know how he was recovering from his surgery.

He isn't out of the woods by any means, it is a serious procedure, but glad to see he got past the initial step.

One amazing thing is that his wife said that he was not in intensive care after the surgery. I was stunned to hear that.

I am home. Got discharged late yesterday afternoon. Knowing why they call it whipple. Feel like sheet still and can only thank God I am still here.

Sooo... the docs said 7-14 days in the hospital, you told them 5 days tops... and you're home on day 4.

Sounds about right. For someone that eats artillery and spits out shrapnel.

So far, so good. Still praying for a full recovery, and that you can start eating more than three raisins per day.

I have more than I like to hear this good news. It's the off season for football and I don't visit that much here.

Then I realize there is never an off season for the friendships we all have on here.

There's never an off season for what we all go through on a daily.

Checking in on friends / board members is important also, hoping to give prayers , support, likes to happy news for some and just being here when ya need a friend.

Argues and disputes can come later in the season. For now you being okay and getting through this is most important.

You call anytime you need to talk or laugh and tell your beautiful wife and children I said hi and have many prayers wishes of hope strength and joy to you my good friend !

Thanks for the prayers and kind words everybody. I'm doing better than even I thought I would and I'm going to copy my facebook post from the other day to let you know how I am feeling, and the word is "Thankful"


I was thinking lately that I don't see many people making posts thanking God. I would like to make one this morning. I have been saying "Every day is a good day, some days are just better than others" ever since I got cancer 9 1/2 years ago.
Thank you God for allowing me to stop working 80 hour work weeks and spend more time with my family and friends.
Thank you God for the strokes, they have taught me not to take anything for granted, from walking, standing, speaking, feeding myself, and every little thing ever since.
Thank you God for the neuropathy. It has taught me empathy for others who are in pain.
Thank you God for the cognitive and memory problems. They have reminded me that many of the things we worry about are trivial and not worth wasting our time on.
Thank you God for the cancer coming back again. It has forced me to lean even more into my faith and relationship with God.
For everything I have lost health wise God has blessed me in other ways, and for this I will be forever grateful.
For letting me show my kids, and grandkids, and friends to never give up. To keep a good attitude, to choose to be happy, to chose to have faith in God, to show others that if I can do these things that they sure as hell can too.
Thank You God for always loving all of us.

Well just got back from the CLeveland Clinic again. Pathology is in. Stage II pancreatic cancer. Back to my oncologists in a few weeks to see what we can do as far as more chemo woohoo. I already have damage to my sensory nerves in my feet and right hip and thigh from my last two 6 month rounds of chemo. Can't wear a port due to the hole in my heart, so we just have to figure out what to do next. I may need for the Browns to get off their ass and win it all in the next several years

Sorry to hear that the cancer is back. You’re a fighter, you’ll beat this too.

We both know that properly functioning nerves are overrated anyway ......
