It's your fault because you either lack the faculties for critical thought or are being intentionally obtuse. I've tried to explain it several times, you're still caught in the curtains trying to open the window.

It is how it works. Now if labor was the only cost of business you could blame it all on that. When I was in business the taxes you paid were based on the profit you made. Unless of course you're really rich. Then exceptions began to apply.

Bottom line is, when you raise business taxes, the end consumer of said business pays for it.

So what? I have to pay a higher tax rate on the money I make than businesses do. Businesses should pay the same rate on their profit as individuals pay on their income. If they can’t compete because of that too bad.

Yes. Spend $50 in gas to leave the state so you can save $10 at McDonald's. Wait, people aren't going to do that. Instead they're just going to go to their local location.

I'm not sure you even know what it is you're trying to explain. First you used Rubio’s Coastal Grill as your example. Now you're claiming it's about fast food. Rubio’s Coastal Grill is not a fast food place. I have no idea how you think that prices won't go up across the board at all restaurants which will put them all on an equal footing.

As for fast food I have started going to more sit down restaurants because the cost of fast food has risen at fast food places to the point where it doesn't cost that much more to go to better places with better food. But I still go out to eat just as much.

My state tax rate in 2024 was 13.3% on my state income. And 19% on fed. Making a combined rate of 32.3% You can search state by state. The federal corp tax rate is 21%. In2022 The state with the highest combined state and federal corporate tax rate was New Jersey at 30.1 percent

Corporate income taxes are levied in 44 states. Though often thought of as a major tax type, corporate income taxes accounted for only 7.07 percent of state tax collections and 3.32 percent of state general revenue in fiscal year (FY) 2021. And while these figures are not high, they represent a substantial increase over prior years. Corporate income taxes accounted for 2.27 percent of general revenue in FY 2020, which is more in line with historical norms.

Let me ask you something you obviously haven't thought about. Why is it that Rubio’s Coastal Grill has gone out of business when restaurants around him have not? They're all paying the same labor costs and yet he went out of business while they did not. Could it be their service? The quality of their food went down? Their management staff?

There must be some reason other than labor costs to explain who he could no longer compete with the many other restaurants that manage to stay in business.

But then nobody would admit it's their fault. Yet since the other places manage to stay in business while paying the same labor costs there's more to it than what's being said.

You said businesses.

There are 1.7 million C-Corps that are publicly traded. Those are the one under scrutiny for the corporate tax rate because there aren't actually owners bearing the tax burden.

There are nearly 5 times that many S-Corps and over 13 times that many sole proprietorships.

So, 1.7 million vs over 30 million.

That 30 million are paying corporate taxes AND personal taxes on the profit, Not to mention the government requirement to match federal payroll taxes and the other nearly countless ways they add to the tax base.

Just a little food for thought. You are not paying any more taxes than 94% of these businesses, you're actually paying less than most of them.

Bottom line is, when you raise business taxes, the end consumer of said business pays for it.

While I certainly can't dispute what you're saying I think most people who say raise corporate taxes are frustrated because they see a system that's stacked against them in favor of corporations and the trends they see.

These huge tax cuts aren't anything new. They've been handed out heavily since the days if Reagan and probably even earlier.

And while you are correct that tax increases only get passed down, those tax cuts never do. I've never seen prices cut when these huge tax cuts are handed out. Big business pockets that money and no savings gets passed down to the consumer. So what they are accurately seeing is a one way street that only benefits corporations even when those corporations receive these huge tax cuts.

Then there is another example which I would hope people could see. Fuel prices have fluctuated for decades now. Sharp rises and falls in its cost seems to be an ongoing theme. Many times I've heard the rise in rices blamed on the cost of rising fuel. Yet when the price of fuel dropped back down the prices didn't. Then the next time fuel costs rose we heard the same excuse that prices had to be raised due to high fuel costs. So every time fuel prices increase we pay more and never pay less when fuel prices go down. Several times we have paid for rising fuel costs and never gotten anything in return when they have fallen.

Meanwhile we have seen the average CEO package payments increase by 1,209.2% since 1978. Surely people can see just how frustrating this is to the average person.

It's the system that's been permitted to run amuck.

I’ve been to Rubios. I swore I’d never go back. The service was decent. Had fish tacos made me sick. Probably a touch of food poisoning. They filled chapter 11 bankruptcy right after closing a dozen restaurants. Pollo Loco restaurants are comparable and serves great food. They are growing and hiring. So it’s hardly about the minimum wage.

Since it seems as though FATE is working hard to dodge reality by blaming labor costs instead of the restaurant while restaurants that surround it manage paying those same labor costs and stay in business this makes more sense than anything I've seen him post thus far.

I'm not surprised to hear you can't come to grips with the fact that other restaurants paying the exact same labor costs can stay in business and Rubio's Coastal Grill can't is not somehow connected to Rubio's itself. So much for the party of personal responsibility.

Yes Pit. So far they're staying in business.

The new wage has been in place for two months!

And you're so brain-dead that you think since all the restaurants in CA haven't gone out of business in two months that the minimum wage has no impact and had nothing to do with this franchise with a 40 year track record.

One person's point of view is feasible, the other is acceptable for an eight-year-old with a learning disability.

I'm not going to sit here and bicker with you all day about something that is so simply understood. I know that's what gets you off, as evident by 95% of your posts with everyone, but it's tiring and pathetic. And when it comes down to it, it's the reason why hardly anyone posts around here anymore. Nobody wants to argue all day with someone that constantly changes the talking points and spews out nonsense for hours on end.

You seem to be having trouble grasping the concept that all California restaurants will be paying the same labor costs and then you somehow claim that people will stop eating out in Californis because of it. Then you turn around and claim it's me who is having trouble grasping basic concepts.

Then because I debate the topics here and mostly against people of your ilk, you blame me because you would love nothing more than for me to be silent. You have become a sad little man.

#thoughtsandprayers

No wonder you blame everyone other than restaurant owners for their own problems. It seems you have trouble with the heat that comes with the kitchen and then blame me because it's too hot for you.

And BTW- For someone who claims they hate to argue with me, you sure dedicate a lot of your time to doing it.

Just a little food for thought. You are not paying any more taxes than 94% of these businesses, you're actually paying less than most of them.

S-Corps do not work the same as C-Corps. S-Corp profits are passed to owners as income. There is a 1.5 percent California State tax for an S-Corp on profits. In California, and some other states, the corporation can pay the state tax directly as an company expense (Pass Through Entity) to lower the company profit and personal profit. That has an advantage on federal taxes. There are other benefits in S-Corp tax law that reduce the level of taxes paid by owners as income. So it is generally more advantageous for S Corp owners to take profit distributions in lieu of salary.

Let's just say that I know this area pretty well.

It doesn't mention Kelly, but it does say a Senior Defense Department official, a Senior US Marine Corps officer, and other defense officials so there does seem to be some level of corroboration. Nothing direct though. The instance where he talked about liking people who didn't get captured during his spat with McCain probably doesn't help in this instance either.

It is very crappy of him not to visit the cemetery though.

I believe this was a legit story some time ago early on in Trump's term. It's not made up. I believe it was someone from Trump's own staff that outed him for saying it. Whether you/I/we believe that report is another story.
