It is official.

I am a corporate recruiter of college students for summer work. It is cool to work with college students as i am not much older myself, but I will be working at the University of Alabama and just signed an apartment lease today, will be moving in on January 7th.

I am seeking advice from Dawgs who are familiar with 'Loosa. Any sort of advice at all, really.

Marry your sister, knock out two of your front teeth and take up the banjo....

Good luck with your new career. I have only driven through Alabama but I found it quite beautiful.

If you are single you are in luck from what i have been told.

One of the guys I work with lived down there from age 23-26 and had a blast. Actually ended up meeting his wife downt their, but said he had a lot of fun with all the southern belles.

I am a sucker for that accent the women down their have.

Don't go.

I grew up in Georgia...so it's basically the same.

If you like the southern culture...southern belief systems...southern food (everything fried)...and hot humid weather...well then, I take that back...you'll love it.

I'm half joking with you. Home is what you make of it. I, personally, have no desire to ever move back to the southeastern part of the US. Not my cup of tea.

LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

When you're in the south always remember to drop your g's on all words ending in g.

Your not about to do something, you're fixin' to do it. Also fixing (not a noun in the south, it's an adjective) has absolutely nothing at all to do with repairing anything. You don't want to go get something, you're gettin' it. If you want to fax something, you're faxin' it. You get my point..

When speaking about a third party, remember the key word is "done". Bubba didn't tell you do it, Bubba done told you to do it.

I could go on but you'll pick it up soon enough. Also drawing out your words just a bit longer than normal will be greatly appreciated by the locals.

My family lived in Anniston, AL for years when I was a kid. I never cared for it that much. As others have posted, it is HOT and HUMID. I'm talking sweating your butt off in the middle of the night hot and humid.

I loved the southern cooking though. Homeade fried catfish and peach cobbler is where it's at!

And just wait for the Alabama/Auburn rivalry . . .

Mostly office work or will you be traveling in the area frequently???

Buy plenty of rain gear. It will rain every day once it warms up.....sometimes seemingly coming out of nowhere. It might rain for 5 minutes, it might rain for two hours. But it's gonna rain........

The food is great. Try the grits with red eye ham and lots of butter.

Learn to hunt and fish. It's not just a hobby, it's a way of life.

The majority of the women will flirt. They still teach proper flirting in the south.

Never for a second believe that the people are as stupid as they sound. Most northerners take the southern accent to mean "stupid", and southerners will play you for thinking that.

Should be a decent amount of traveling, so Ill take the rain into consideration. I am going to be taking my time driving down there over the next week, leaving on the 1st. I can move into my apartment on Sunday, and hope to have the problem of "where can I watch a playoff game from"

Ditto what Pit said. I live in Georgia and I can honestly tell you, after driving through Alabama, there is NOTHING in that state. I mean, they only have one gas station for the whole freakin state if that tells you anything. There's nothing there. Stay away unless you like being bored. Be smart and move back to Cleveland.

Ok. Best of luck with that.

And Lanette is the birth place of Joe (The Brown Bomber) Lewis.

So you have a BBQ, one gas station and a lot of books about Joe Lewis to read.

ENJOY!

Let's see....a crap town in Ohio...??.....E. Liverpool....seems I remember that being a dump.....I suppose someone's only Ohio experience was there and would be less than ideal...

I like Alabama.....have had family there forever.......and I will bet Eve a night of something I could find a 50 gas stations in Tuscaloosa alone.
