Re-sign

Jamal Lewis RB-He can hold it down at least 1 more season and he deserves it
Seth McKinney G/C-Solid player and a solid back up on OL is good
Chaun Thompson LB-played well in spot duty, good on special teams
Daven Holly CB-Solid Nickel DB,he can spot start also
Derrick Anderson QB-he played great most of the time, only let him go if a team gives us 1 and
Simon Fraser DE-Decent back up and I like him l

Let Go

Tim Carter WR-worst 3rd receiver in the league,no hands
Nat Dorsey T-fatty who is no good
Ted Washington DT-hes simply no longer good,he will retire soon enough
Kris Griffin LB-I liked Jason short better
Matt Stewart LB-he woulda got cut if he wasn’t hurt,a younger guy will take his spot but I hope he latchs on somewhere
Gary Baxter CB-id like to see him on the team w/ a 1 year cheap deal but he might be done
Ricardo Colclough CB-I didn’t see anything special when he was w/ us
Lennie Friedman G-is always inactive,if nobody better comes along bring him back otherwise let him go
Willie McGinest LB-if there isn’t a big cap penalty, hes done
Ethan Kelley DT-he can be replaced

Sign
Drew Carter Panthers WR- I don’t think he got a fair chance and ive always liked him and hes speedy and can catch decently, if we don’t land him Andre Davis or Devery Henderson would be nice
Jacob Bell Titans T-he can play guard and tackle, he would be solid and could complement McKinney as top back ups
Chris Canty Cowboys DE-hes an RFA so he may be tough to get but hes a real good 3-4 end and he will get better with expericance
Darrion Scott Vikings DE-he can play DT and DE,big guy, could start if nessasty, great rotation guy
Rodney Bailey Cards DE-he also can play DT and DE,former steeler who knows the 3-4,good back up,this is making me look like a buckeye homer lol
Terrell Suggs Ravens LB-he would be a perfect pass rush complmet to Wimbley, also why not steal from are cap troubled rivals
Randall Gay Patriots CB-can start if injuries set in and comes from a winning team, familiar with romeo
Matt Ware Arizona S-is a tall DB, also a S/CB tweener,a 1 year deal to see what he has to offer
Larry Izzo Patriots LB-awsome special teams player, brings another pat to Cleveland and more of that winning mentality

It's not a guess but that's all I can say. Take it for what it's worth.

The only WR I want this off-season is Jason Rivers 6'2" 189 lbs Hawaii. The best hands I've seen in awhile! Not sure where he is projected.

I would like to land Justin Smith and Lance Briggs....then concentrate more on the D line early in the draft.

Start with re-signing Jamal Lewis...then go from there....preferably on defense. Maybe Justin Smith and Marcus Trufant?

Resign Lewis, tender Anderson, sign Suggs if at all possible, the DL, DL, DL, DL, DL, and then go after Michael Turner.
Can you imagine running Lewis to soften em up, then bring in Turner, just like San Diego does. That could be awesome, then Turner takes over full time after next year.

Still don't get all the love for Justin Smith. The guy is about 20 pounds too light for the 3-4.

I agree, he could only play linebacker in the 3-4m and that isn't going to happen.

I know that I'm going to get blasted here, but despite his age, Tedy Bruschi kind of intrigues me. I don't know if I'd mind bringing him in as an ILB mentor kinda the same way that McGinest mentored the OLB's.

JMHO.

I think we will High Tender DA and Low Tender Griffith ( who was a good special teamer and reliable backup) LB as well as Holly which unless somebody offers a ton we would match - If not we get a 7th rounder

Fraser I'm not sure we'll tender him...Matt Stewart????

Jamal looks to be the only UFA of ours we would pursue. Maybe Lennie Friedman but Bentley would have a lot of say in that area. McKinney - he continues to be injury prone and Tucker is SOOOO much better. We need to uprgrade at RT or OT depth from the draft. I'd like to see us go after Jordan Gross (not sure of his injury history)...we can definately upgrade on Dorsey. Shaffer starts hitting the big bucks with us in salary at 2.9.

Carter probably walks at WR...we might be able to upgrade with a Berrium Bears or Crayton of the Cowboys is decent. I've always liked Porter of Oakland but he's got a bad rep???

If the Cowboys don't extend and just make a low tender - Canty would be a must!! it would cost us a 4th rounder I believe but he's excellent!

We might re-sign Kelley of course I think Shaun goes in at NT probably and another player that I really really like although I think he's been considered a disappointment is William Joseph of the Giants - he'd be great as a DE...what a coup that would be getting Canty, Joseph and then of course Haynesworth for a NT.

We would have a DE rotation of Robaire, Canty and Joseph with Haynesworth and Shaun Smith at NT...and Shaun could always get into the DE rotation as well. Thats a typical Savage - take a weakness and make it into a strength off season I would hope we can expect!!

Chaun Thompson...love the guy and wish we would use him more but the fact that we just don't leaves me with being unsure of how we go with him...Great Special teamer and reliable versatile LB. I like him better than Leon.

I've always like Koutouvides.
Briggs, Dansby, Diggs, Suggs all have to be given serious consideration.

College sensations Lehman from Oklahoma and Boss Bailey both probably leaving Detroit - peak my curiosity as depth if they come cheap.

Of course we got the draft...love this kid Lehman from Illinois - we'll see what he does against USC.

JMHO

Friedman inactive? Do you even watch the games? Friedman was the leader of the wege in front of Cribbs on returns, also was the number one backup at gaurd.

Willie McGinest LB-if there isn’t a big cap penalty, hes done

McGinest had surgery early and is a tad slow, but his presence in the locker room is invaluable. I don't want him as a starter, but have no problem with him in the rotation.

Fraser is one of my favorites, but he needs to be replaced by someone who can actually get some push. Great guy, great motor, too weak for a 3-4 lineman IMO.

The only FAs I would go hard after are Briggs and Suggs.

I almost never do this but I know you won't be offended. "peak" should be "pique".

pique

/pik/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[peek] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation verb, piqued, piqu·ing, noun
–verb (used with object) 1. to affect with sharp irritation and resentment, esp. by some wound to pride: She was greatly piqued when they refused her invitation.
2. to wound (the pride, vanity, etc.).
3. to excite (interest, curiosity, etc.): Her curiosity was piqued by the gossip.
4. to arouse an emotion or provoke to action: to pique someone to answer a challenge.
5. Archaic. to pride (oneself) (usually fol. by on or upon).
–verb (used without object) 6. to arouse pique in someone: an action that piqued when it was meant to soothe.
–noun 7. a feeling of irritation or resentment, as from a wound to pride or self-esteem: to be in a pique.
8. Obsolete. a state of irritated feeling between persons.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Origin: 1525–35; < MF pique (n.), piquer (v.) < VL *piccare to pick1; see pickax, pike2, piqué]

—Synonyms 1. offend, sting, nettle, vex, irritate, chafe. 2. affront. 3. stimulate, stir, , incite, goad.

Also....

1. I would love to get Canty but I seriously doubt that he'll be given the 4th round tender.

2. No way Tim Carter is resigned. That goes for Simon Frasier as well. I'd be surprised if 2007 wasn't his final year of NFL football.

3. Jordan Gross is going to command far more money that we should spend on a RT. He'll get more money than Shaffer...then we'd have to cut Shaffer because of the money he's making. Not worth all the trouble IMO.

4. Haynesworth would never come to a Two-Gap defense. Nor do I want him here. NT eat blocks. Haynesworth is not a block eater. He's a penetrating DT due to his athleticism, which is rare.

5. Karlos Dansby would be a nice addition but I'd bet he is franchised by the Cardinals.

6. It's going to give me a migraine but don't be surprised to see a speed WR drafted by us in the second round.

If anything, I'd like to have Haynesworth here as a DE.

My left Pinky is my weakest digit...I'll continue to use the Hook on Phonics edition of Peak...

1. Yeah I doubt they low tender him either but they have depth there so you never know. (Canty)

2. Carter n Fraser...I don't expect either to be high on our list...Fraser could sign a minimum contract and then get cut if we improve our depth.

3. I'm not so sure if Jordan Gross would get more money...he's played RT not LT and Shaffer got his contract as a LT. I just think Gross is so more athletic he would be much better at Pass Protection and better on the move in our Zone Blocking schemes...He might complete the OL. Health is my only big question mark... "then we'd have to cut Shaffer because of the money he's making." - Well I was actually thinking more of "trade" than "cut" even for a 4th or 5th rounder.

4. Haynesworth will go where the $$$ is. You do know you can play 2 gap with penetration - he gets doubled more than any other DT in the NFL this year. I think you are over thinking here. Great talent is needed at NT.

5. Coaches are from Pittsburg...learned from Pittsburg...who lived and died by their LBs...how many did they consider franchise. Somehow I don't think that will be done? But you never know.

6. I doubt we will draft a speed WR. 2nd rounder??? our first pick in the draft on a WR??? lol I would be shocked!

Oh and after watching Lehman of Illinois against USC - I'm not too enamored with him...I thought he was much faster. But I'll take anyone on that USC D...excellent Defense.

Fraiser...ugh..he's toast..let him go..

I think the big question on the Oline is what happens to Bentley.
Plus the backups..
I have a hunch they'll want to keep the line as it is..
But guys like Sowells, Dorsey,Friedman ,McKinnie etc may be the ones they decide to keep or let go..I could see them keeping McKinnie..
Haynesworth is one guy I'm not expecting to make it to FA...
I do expect one solid ILB..and there will be some..
I keep hinting two positions need to have some more depth..CB/TE..

McKinney did a solid job. They'll have to look at him and decide if they think he'll stay healthy.

Tucker filled in at guard and did a great job.

Biggest concern is obviously the DL. Albert Haynesworth.....wow that would be a major upgrade. Gotta go after him. Ethan Kelley didn't do a bad job when in, he could be brought back as a rotator and back up. I see a lot of people talking about Lance Briggs and Suggs as well, but we're not bringing in 3 of the top FAs, that's a lot of money right there.

That is the side effect of the ballooning cap numbers.... everyone can afford to keep their own. Noone is forced to give up big talent because they can't afford it, and when you do see it, you end up with insane contracts being given because so many teams can afford to play in the market.

Also, a little known part of the CBA and the Salary Cap is that teams have a Minimum that they must spend as well.... that means that sometimes you will see a team throw absolutely stupid money at a player just because they have to eat up cap space.

He did a good job in pass protection ...... but was miserable in run blocking.

I'd keep him for depth .... but that's about it.

As for Griffin im just biased to Short so yah haha. i agree w/ you on mcginest if hes cheap and not a starter im alright with it. and for fraser he isnt big enough. i jus love his motor and would hate to see him go.

A friend of mine is an avid Jets fan and told me that there has been widespread speculation that Laverneus Coles might be cut due to cap considerations by the Jets.

I checked the Jets site and there was nothing official although this article certainly doesn't make it sound settled that Coles will return to the Jets.

http://www.newyorkjets.com/news/articles/show/2026-coles-i-m-committed-to-playing-football-

If Coles was to be available, he'd shoot to the top of my wanted FA WRs, ahead of Bryant Johnson who I figure is our best option out there thus far as a new #2 with JJ saying he'll only play one more year.

I like the line just like it is now with Tucker in there. McKinney would be more than adequate to back up.

Name on the rise
Two weeks ago we put out our list of top 20 unrestricted free agents. Every year I miss somebody and this year the one name I hear will be heavily pursued is 49ers DT Isaac Sapoaga. He's one of the NFL's strongest men, probably in the top three or four actually. The 6-2, 334-pounder is a bear against the run and gets helped by the fact that the cupboards for DTs in free agency are pretty bare.

He's a Hawaii boy that put up 45 reps of 225 and stopped thinking he broke the all time record....only tied it.

He's really strong and would be a great rotation player at NT for us.

I think we'll need one more WR but thats about it as far as offense

Defense needs as much help as possible. D-lineman, pass rush specialists, run stoppers, coverage LB, and at least one more decent CB

The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.
