The Summer Olympics is already 1 week old- and it falls to me to even start a conversation about it?
It's the freakking Olympics! What the hell is wrong with you people?
I guess this inauspicious post is start of something that might actually gain legs.
Why are we not talking about this?
Who has popped your eyes? Who surprised you? What made you say: "wait- lemme run that back, and watch this a second time?"
You people truly disappoint me. It's the freakking Olympics, dammit!!!
Step tf up, dammit.

Im changing as I age because I used to be able to watch any ol’ sort of game at all but every time I turn it on it’s something I can barely hang with for more than a few mins. Wife was watching women’s sand volleyball for a while and that wasn’t nearly as fun to watch as it sounds 😂. Today it was badminton between two Chinese women who looked like 12yr old boys. Yawn fest. Watched a little diving yesterday.. yea, ok. And I know I’m different than most folks but I just can’t with gymnastics and that’s what is on like 50% of the time. Again, I got about 5 mins.
I Did watch some of the swimming and that was indeed pretty exciting. But that led into water polo and nope, couldn’t watch it for more than 5 minutes.
Yea, so I’ve just had very bad timing when I turn on the tv. I really wanted to see wrestling, I’ve seen zero. Wanted to see some of the track & field, again, bad timing. That’s my excuse anyway.

I lost interest when the opening ceremonies had drag queens mocking the last supper, when they had a she male boxing against women, and when Biles nominated herself as the goat. She's good, but nominating yourself as a goat is arrogant as F. How quickly she forgets the previous Olympics when she was a quivering mess dropping out. A goat wouldn't have that problem. A goat doesn't need to nominate themselves, everybody else gives them that title. Learn some humility lady.
I did enjoy the Eventing equestrian events. But there's other things for me to watch on TV. Not feeling it this year. Other than the video of the high jumper who hit his junk on the bar and knocked it down. That was funny.
The only events I would tune in for is the USA Soccer and Equestrian. But I don't have Peacock and I'm not gonna stalk the other channels.

I've watched a lot of the Olympics.
Guy from Turkey who won the silver for air pistol shooting is an absolute legend.
Simone Biles was incredible, obviously.
Have won several bets on US Men's Basketball and US Women's Soccer.
US Men's 3 on 3 team blows.
US Men's Water Polo team took apart Montenegro today.
Marchand is an incredible swimmer.
Ryan Crouser won third straight gold medal in shot put.
Hat tip to the American Grant Fisher in the 10,000M race.
Congrats to St. Lucia winning their first ever medal which was gold in the women's 100M. Bummer for Sha'Carri Richardson. She took silver, but was expected to win.
Skateboarding was fun to watch. U.S. took home silver and bronze.
Hat tip to Yulo from the Phillipines that won gold on the floor exercise. Seemed like everyone was happy for him.
North Korea women won silver in diving. I wasn't aware that country was even allowed to participate. They will disappear forever and Kim Jong Un will proclaim they won gold.
Looking forward to watching Noah Lyles run.

In my younger days I was always glued to my TV to watch the Olympics. This year I have very little interest. Every time I turn it on I see such wonderful Olympic Sports such as
Artistic Gymnastics Artistic Swimming Flag Football Rugby Sevens Badminton Golf Skateboarding Squash Surfing Cricket BMX Freestyle Trampoline
Come on, back in the day we saw all the major events, now we see this garbage. I would prefer to watch folks getting chemo to most of the coverage they are showing.
It's getting as bad as NFL draft coverage when they waste most of your time talking about who was drafted in the first round while ignoring all the later round picks while still talking endlessly about guys drafted one or two days earlier and ignore the rest.
I AM ALWAYS RIGHT... except when I am wrong.

I stream Peacock. I pick and choose what I want to watch when I want. But yeah a lot of new crap being added. And old crap is sticking around.
I learned the Korean archer’s are the best. They dominated every event, men and women. Although B Ellison of the USA got a silver in the men’s final. Korea took Gold and Bronze.
Guess what country took the men’s gold in ping pong?

I am a swimmer so I have watched some of the swimming.
I swim at an aquatic center where there are lots of swim teams that practice. They have meets on weekends.
The competitors at the Olympics are so good. The amount of practice that goes into it is excessive. The difference between winning and losing is split seconds.
The diversity of competition is interesting. I like archery.
I can watch any competition. Not for long but I get a kick out of all the things that humans will compete at.

There's so many lies and mistakes in your post it's hard to know where to start. But then I'm sure enough people know that it's not worth the time to break it all down.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

What’s embarrassing is that the French have triggered so many American snowflakes that they can’t even do the patriotic thing and watch the Olympic athletes representing the country they supposedly love so much. Its fascinating.

I haven't watched the Olympics in probably 20 years. For those who enjoy it. great. Carry on. I just really have no interest.
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
John 14:19 Jesus said: Because I live, you also will live.

I have watched a little and paid attention to some of the highlights. My true Olympics interest really started to diminish when NBA players started playing for the US. My interest gets less and less each time. As a kid I loved about any event they showed on TV but when they threw away at least a hint of amateurism, it doesn't feel the same.
I know, I know. I am getting to be an old grumpy man, but I can deal with that.

Simone Biles has been a stud, which is no surprise Glad you're watching. Americans getting a chance to show up/show out on a world stage. Katy Ledecky: GOAT. No one has come close in her field. She's the Michael Phelps of xx chromosome human beings. Basketball: I don't tune into the Olympics to watch sports that I can see any time, so I'll maybe watch the medals round. Simone Biles: Gold individual, gold with the team. It's what you want to see.

Bros- whassup? You can't accept new events that weren't part of your childhood?
Here's how I see it: If the official Olympic bosses choose to add an event to their list of officially-sanctioned events, I get to choose whether I watch or not. Most times, I'll prob choose *yes*... because it's s# I could never do. I absolutely love seeing folks who excel in their chosen field. Breaking may not be everyone's idea of 'sport,' but no one can dispute that this artform/discipline demands an insanely high level of physical/athletic skill. Skill that I never had as a young man; skills that I'll never acquire as an AARP American.
We had this same fight years ago, when snowboarding was introduced to the winter games.
In short: I'm good with all this s#. Gimme more things I don't see everyday.

I admit I got sucked into mixed team Judo last night. Had to watch on silent as my wife was asleep and I couldn’t find the plug in ear phones but the rules just stymied me.
Each team is like set of super hero’s, a jumbo dude who looks like a reformed bouncer, a tiny female who got lost on her way to gymnastics, a midsize female in cornrows who looks like she’d stab you for a biscuit, midsize leader dude who’s clearly the leader because he’s perma scowling and a tiny dude who’s bouncing on his toes all the time. And a jumbo female who doesn’t look very athletic but looks are deceiving as they appear to be the most violent right out of the box. The set up is pretty straightforward, each member fights the other teams version of them of course but I got lost on all the rules and constant stopping and apparently scoring is about casting a spell on the ref and trying to stop your opponent from also casting a spell. The ref will occasionally give one or the other a warning but this seems completely arbitrary, just keeping everyone guessing. Get 3 magic warnings and it’s over for you. No ever argues a warning or an anything for that matter. Everyone’s primary strategy seems to be to make the other person regret joining a sport with such troublesome clothing that its regularly used against you. Seriously, they just grab the others clothes and try to flip and strangle them with it. There’s 2 point, point one and point “ippon”. The clock counts down from 3 minutes but if neither have ippon they go into “golden score” which is fancy sudden death and the clock now counts up until infinity. Or one of them scores which feels like forever. I don’t know. I took a sleep gummy so all the above may be subject to further scrutiny. But that’s my Olympics folks.

I am amazed by the number of odd games in the Olympics. Every ''Olde Guy' watching the Olympics has always said the same thing, since 1896. They are only 'odd' to guys of our vintage. I'm actually OK with new events, and here's why: Adding events such as these takes nothing away from the importance of the 100m dash, or the 100m freestyle.I love all of it. Every bit of it. For 2 weeks, I get to see stuff that my daily TV never gives me. The best of the best, doing what they do at the top of their games. What's not to like about something like this, despite the event in question? It's the most real TV we get to see.

This is why I watch. So intense yet so simple, raise your arms in the air -- at this moment you're the fastest man in the world. No style points, just a blur and a ticking clock, and sometimes a freeze frame to see just how close. The embrace and words with his mother put tears in my eyes.

Me personally I don't want to have to watch an hour of badminton just so I can see 5 minutes of track and field. Maybe it's just the old man in me, maybe it's because at this point of my life I don't want to waste time? Either way I don't begrudge others their enjoyment of watching them. I was just stating why I don't watch much anymore. If you want to see me get behind new things for the olympics let them start steaming the olympic events so we can chose which ones we want to see.... hmmmmm now that I said that out loud I guess I am more down on the coverage than the Olympics themselves.
I AM ALWAYS RIGHT... except when I am wrong.

I’ve been checking in occasionally, but unless I catch a Canadian competing, I check out.
Like peen, I prefer the Winter Olympics, not just cuz I’m Canadian, eh? I like the skiing and even the snowboarding events.
I don’t like watching track and field, breakdancing at the Olympics is a deal-breaker and as someone else said, letting pro basketball players compete is just ridiculous. I feel the same way about hockey, too.
I find the Olympics, after they changed the format and have the summer and winter games every two years, to be just too much. To me, it has lost its lustre.

If the Browns aren't playing, I may watch a total of 1 hour of tv a week.
Used to try to watch the Olympics, but when I did, it was 2 minutes of an event (at best), 3-4 minutes of background stories, and commercial after commercial after commercial.
I don't want to watch commercials.

j/c I enjoyed watching Kayak Cross. It's a brand-new event. Heats of four contestants. The goal: navigate your kayak through a 'raging river'-type course, and be the first to cross the finish line. The starting gate is suspended 12 feet above the water's surface. On the start, the entire platform tilts forward, plunging the athletes into the rushing drink. Contestants then navigate a curvy, slalom-type course, complete with (at least) class 3 rapids. Compulsory elements: kayakers must execute what used to be called an 'Eskimo roll,' wherein the paddler laterally rolls the kayak 360°. It must be executed within a set zone. Miss the zone- DQ. They also must navigate several slalom gates, including two that require them to curl back against the current. Incidental contact is not only allowed; is is a feature of the event. Kayakers can bump, impede, and even strategically box out other paddlers at the gates. I lost count of the number of 3-boat pileups I saw at the course's pinch points. The play-by-play announcer: "She took a risk, and took a kayak bow to the face, for her efforts..." It moves fast, there is real risk for the contestants, and the results are always unpredictable. What's not to love? This s# was as fun as it could be. Something totally new to the Olympics. And something I'd never seen before. #instantfan

j/c A personal side-benefit of watching these games is getting to hear the national anthems of the winning countries. Some of them are really stirring. Well-composed. Ukraine's anthem is very cool. Italy's is what you'd expect from the nation that gave us opera. And when I watch the contestants singing along/reacting to their nations' familiar strains, they remind me of every single American Olympian I've ever watched, over the years. Music is the s#."I've been in this game for years." * I've probably played the U.S. national anthem no fewer than 500 times, over the course of my career. The notes are so familiar, they elicit zero response from me. What does raise my arm hairs: seeing the folks in the house raise their voices in unison- and unity. That never gets old. And it's very cool to see others do the same. I love that the entire world comes together for this thing. It's about the only thing that any of us seems to agree on. If that's the best I can hope for, I'll take it. btw: the Paris/24 arrangement of our anthem is in the wrong key. It was written in B-flat. This version is at C, making it sound "Light in the loafers." * Notorious B.I.G: 'The Ten Crack Commandments' 7th grade, June Short: "Always give attribute to a quote. It's their thought- not yours."
"too many notes, not enough music-"

I've been enjoying every second of the olympics here.. Been ritual to wake up and just watch everything on Multi-view on peacock. Captured my attention and is basically my neurodivergent serotonin at the moment.
I enjoy watching Handball is kinda a brutal game. Big in Europe.
The olympics try to have some sports that emphasize the culture of the host city they're in. That's why Breakdancing is in the olympics this year.
In 28 they're bringing back baseball and softball adding Flag Football. in addition Cricket, Squash, and Lacrosse are also getting added.
It's like been 10 days since the opening ceremony but the Last Supper wasn't being mocked. Is kinda weird that haven't heard this much uproar about any other reference to the Last Supper that anyone else has done.
Noah has a chance to do the 3peat this year with the 200 and the relay and it's gonna be fun to watch.
Dude's got amazing high end speed and it's gonna be tough to catch him.
I highly enjoyed Rugby Sevens. Is the most balls to the wall sports out there right now. Like non stop sprinting for 14 minutes total. Also Illona Maher is like one of my new favorite people
Katy Ladecky also is ridiculous. Basically everyone was swimming for silver in the 1500.
Excited for the Knockout game tomorrow with the US Mens Basketball.. Is LeBron's turn to respond to lyles winning the 100.
Didn't know about the Women's Baskeball team having a winstreak of 58 that's insanity.
Also Kristen Faulkner taking gold after being asked to replace was super cool
Also it's Illegal to be LGBTQ+ in Algeria.... That is be gay or transgender etc.. Algeria is a Sunni Muslim country. Can be Jailed for being transgender. So even let a trans persn represent them in the olympics is probably the dumbest thing to ever come out of these games.
That or maybe the feigned controversy about how track measures who crosses the line first.
