We talked about it briefly in anothe thread, but it got me to thinking about some of the posters who used to be staples on here. Haven't seen them around in a while. I perused through the list of frequent posters and noted the following who haven't been around in a while:

brownsfansince79 - my fellow attorney. He was a hoot.

DCDAWGFAN - definitely don't see hin nearly as much as I used to. Posted once earlier this year and in spurts last November.

40YEARSWAITING - big politics guy. Hasn't posted since '22.

Tulsa - used to post a ton. Haven't seen him since COVID hit. Hope he's okay.

DawgMichelle - also sparsely seen. She was great.

Mourgrym - he was one of my DT friends. Miss his posts.

OverToad - another legend.

ddubia - another staple for a while.

Attack_Dawg

DjangoBrown - used to have good draft takes.

DeepThreat - was a reporter or scout if I remember.

I know there's a lot more that we discussed, but these are some of the names that popped out to me.

OverToad was the guy that got me started on DT.

He wrote well and was knowledgeable. I really enjoyed discussing football with him.

He has been gone for a long time. I thought that he may be a sports reporter for some paper.

I miss some of the women who used to post. Lisadawg, Michelledawg, brownsbabe and GM’s sister, too.

OT definitely knew football. He’s either a golf pro now, or took a run at the wrong man’s wife and ended up buried deep in a sand trap at a Vegas golf course. wink

DC I liked a lot, he and I would talk occasionally about golf in PMs. Diam sent me a PM awhile ago about Canadian politics. He was/is funny.

I’ll never forget blednyk because he had those creepy, blinking eyes in his sig picture. People move on, I guess.

He was an awesome writer. Oddly enough, he was in charge of food and beverages at a hotel in Austin or something like that I believe.

Shep is another one. Did he and that Steelers fan who used to come on here get hitched?

I have mentioned him in memoriam for seasons now, when I remember we have the Ratbirds. I want to add Ravenkiller to the thread. Hoist one for all "The Unforgotten"!

Yes they did. We are still friends on FB. He's now retired as well. Seems to be getting along well.

It is odd that I know every name listed in this thread. Some of them go WAY back!

I remember him as CleveSteve.

Overtoad was the original old-school bro who hooked me up to this site after The Crash.

He wrote some great long-form sports editorials on The Original Site. He also had quick, insightful gameday observations, post-game posts, witty day-to-day banter, and a Browns overview that spoke of true knowledge/scholarship.

His posts read read better than 90% of stuff you'll find behind a sports paywall, these days.

'Toad and I really hit it off.
Many PM's about Browns (history and potential), politics, and life in general.
He was one of the first ppl I ever trusted/connected enough to call a 'cyberfriend.'

I'm pretty sure Toad got sick of the insults and being "called out" by the loudmouths here who knew much less about football than he did. Clevesteve was another very knowledgeable poster with great insight. It's a shame that people who just have to get the last word and argue all the time (no matter how wrong they are) drive good people away.

Some other names of good people I met at a few of the tailgates:

Nologorequired

Englishdawg

I'm having a brainfart, but another regular poster who was from Hawaii.

Toad got me started a long time ago.

It was back when it was part of the original message board.

It was the first time that I ever went to a website and discussed Browns. Tab was another guy from that time.

Toad was the only person for a long time that I went back and forth with really discussing football.

I miss that. For the most part I got along with Vers. We had some good quarterback discussions when the Browns were looking in the draft for a QB.

I remember discussing Mahomes. Vers didn't like him too much because he was not a disciplined qb. I told him I had never seen a guy like Mahomes. He did things I had not seen done by a QB. I looked into Mahomes and found out his father was a baseball player. I could tell Mahomes was not in awe about locker rooms and pro players.
I was hopeful that we would draft Mahomes.

In the Baker draft. I wanted Sam Darnold. Vers wanted Josh Rosen. Bang - both wrong.

I like discussing football but over time it seems that the Board turned to insults. I found myself doing it as well. I have stopped. Dropped out of politics. Not worth it.

I like discussing football, baseball, music, and Everything Else for odds and ends. Good to read personal stories.

Clem has some good ones.

Pointing fingers at anyone who disagrees with you seems to be all some of you can do. It's a rather lazy and tiresome shtick at this point.

pastor will chime in once the season starts I think - at least that's been his routine

When clevelandbrowns.com had a message board, SuperBrown put all his posts in bold type. It always cracked me up. I liked his sense of humor.

He moved back to Cleveland and just got tired of the board. Found more productive things to do with his time.

I’ve been posting here since this was the official Browns board. Started right around fall of 2000. I was thrown off once back around 2001 and then on hiatus for a couple years. I remember all of the names mentioned throughout this thread. DC dog was always cool to interact with. Also, Columbus Dog hosted a tailgate that I went to back in 2010. - That was 14 years ago. Wow. -My two year old baby girl is turning 16 this year. Pretty sure that some of the people on here still head to those tailgates.

Names that I remember from back then hat we still see…. ‘Peen, GM, Saint, Arch, and that’s all that I can think of in my Sunday “teatime” 😆.

Good thread DL05, a lot of great names I remember from when I was just a reader back in the day.

Just to hit on a few that got me started in reading the old board and moving on to Prps board.

EO was a great read, really enjoyed hearing his insight. Vers was another, once I started posting he PM'd me out of the blue. We had some great personal life conversations and some good football talk.

A few others:
Mourg - we would talk in the game chat during games. I enjoyed his football talk

CFRS15 - was a personal favorite of mine, straight to the point with his takes, and enjoyed his sarcastic responses. I would laugh when someone would take his sarcastic off the wall take as serious.

CleveSteve - very knowledgable, loved his draft talk, also liked when he would have the DT draft where everyone would pick a team and act like the GM of the said team.

Spiritbro77 - another regular back in the day poster. He always used the "snicker"

Edromeo - I think was a Redskins fan, but turned Browns fan b/c of RGIII if I remember correctly. He always provided a lot of stats, I enjoyed his takes.

EnglishDawg was awesome. I remember he was from Bristol. Got to meet him at the 2007 home opener tailgate (when I met everyone else), the day after he went to the Killers concert.

While we're here .. one thing that I truly LOVED

on the original board (circa 2000-2003), the Browns used to host a Dawg Talkers Day at training camp ... tent near the field, concessions, players meet/greet, etc ... man was that FUN

I really wish we could do something similar, even if it's something we all chipped in with

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Yeah Dawgtalk Day was really great! The Browns really spoiled us all. My grandson had just started school then and all of the players signed a Browns backpack for him. He's almost 30 years old now and has 2 children.

I was a teenager at the time and got so much stuff signed too - pictures, food, autographs. I really feel like that made me a lifetime fan

I was in my 40's and had already been a fan for 35 years. But it was the first time I ever felt like the team actually cared about me rather than just the other way around.
