Also the women's fencing team is breaking down walls. Was particularly invested in the fencing this year because I do something similar to fencing so while not entirely versed in the rules.. the understanding of the tactics and things felt similar.
After THAT game against the Serbs... Should the US win against France in the Gold Medal game... will have to say this might be the greatest Olympic Basketball team ever...
That comeback was impressive... When you have Jokic and Bog basically unable to miss... and come back down from 17...
The Summer Olympics is already 1 week old- and it falls to me to even start a conversation about it?
It's the freakking Olympics! What the hell is wrong with you people?
I guess this inauspicious post is start of something that might actually gain legs.
Why are we not talking about this?
Who has popped your eyes? Who surprised you? What made you say: "wait- lemme run that back, and watch this a second time?"
You people truly disappoint me. It's the freakking Olympics, dammit!!!
Step tf up, dammit.
With global competition happening all the time now and the amount of other entertainment options available, the Olympics have lost some of their shine. Throw in the political accoutrements and the scandals that have surrounded the IOC, mix in apathy/distaste towards the current state of our country, and less people avidly following the Games doesn't surprise me that much.
Plus, on the boards, we're spoiled by seeing Myles all the time. While impressive, Olympic level athleticism has somewhat been desensitized for us.
If you're interested in the event, watch. If not, that's fine, too.
You mess with the "Bull," you get the horns. Fiercely Independent.
Since you want to talk Summer Olympics, Clem, why don’t we talk about Summer McIntosh?
Dawg, I swam varsity in HS, so I never miss a swimming event.
She spent this Summer popping eyes, dropping jaws, and establishing herself as swimming's "next big thing."
Your girl is on a glide path to make/break records for as long as she wants to compete... and at the tender age of 17, she's gonna give American Swimmers fits for at least the next 2-3 Olympic cycles. Outstanding, beautiful performances.
Her performance in this Olympics was on-par with Leon Marchaund, the brand-new French swimming sensation. The two of them made statements on the level of Mark Spitz in 72, and Michael Phelps in the 2000's. I love the Olympics, so of course, I love any contestant who raises the bar for his/her respective sport. It's even sweeter when they do it in the sport I embraced. Deep, deep respect.
Good call, bro. Summer's tha shizz.
p.s. I haven't watch any basketball. I tune into the Olympics to see sports that aren't football, baseball and basketball. I get a bellyful of that stuff any day/every day. pps: I read that story earlier. What a hoot!

Haven't watched much because nbc coverage sucks. Early on I tried to watch.
NBC - "Tonight, womens gymnastics with minimal commercial interruption
Also NBC - Had a commercial break after every athlete.
Imagine if you were watching a Browns game and they only showed you plays where Chubb was on the field. Had a commercial break after every play and right before the 3rd down play they cut to a 10 minute backstory about one of the athletes. Thats nbc coverage in a nutshell.
It's supposed to be hard! If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard... is what makes it great!
I like rooting for African countries in the track and field events if the Americans aren't doing well.
Hated to see Lyles lose the 200M race but thought it was really cool to see Tebogo win gold for Botswana.
Also, loved to see Julien Alfred win not only gold but the the first ever medal for St. Lucia in such a high profile event, the women’s 100M. Then she took silver in the women’s 200M.
The U.S. women’s 4x400M relay was awesome. Smoked everyone.
The men’s 4x400M relay was a fantastic race. U.S. grabbing gold for the I think the seventh straight Olympics is incredible. Hat tip to Botswana that was a close second and took silver.
USA basketball wins gold - Curry/Lebron/Durant are so good. Booker stepped up as well
Serbia and France both tried their hardest
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Love the olympics... love the stories and competition... track and field was incredible this year! USA distance running was a factor again!
Just great games...
Me too, bro.
We only get to see these incredible athletes once every 4 years... and every time I tune into the Olympics, I think to myself, "Goodness gracious- look what other people can do."
I love that many/most times, the contestants come from small/small-ish towns (a USA medal winner in swimming was raised in Dover, OH, and a distance runner from a village Kenya was the first woman to 3-peat for gold in her event). I love that they come from every corner of their respective countries, from every corner of the Earth (). They labor away in obscurity, 6 hours/day, doing incredibly demanding, super-specialized things that the rest of us could never imagine ourselves doing... and only get to see, once in awhile.
I really enjoyed seeing these contestants celebrating with their teammates after events, and their fam in the stands. Didn't matter what nationality they rep'd... I got to spend two whole weeks watching the entire world come together for something bigger than any single one of us.
Basketball was pretty nuts. Curry was actually in a slump to start the game off. Kept taking and missing threes. I guess he picked a good time to turn it on. Wembanyama will be a force in the future Olympics. We're going to have a lot of turnover on our roster between now and '28.

Curry really didnt play well for the first 3-4 games truthfully - and then he just started to feel it. And weve all seen how he can flip that switch quickly
