These joint practices have become the preferred choice of the coaches for work.

More so than the games because you can work your first string. In addition there are safety precautions to help in preventing injury.

However, for the most part you get to go against another team's best players.

At the same time you get to work units and situations.

Then you play the team you practiced against. That can stamp what you have learned.

This week is important. The final game is like the first. You play guys who are not expected to start. Then you huddle up and start first game preparation.

This should be an interesting week. I hope the reporters do a good job.

This is the most important week of the offseason it seems - we NEED to get a lot out of this for our starters

We seem resigned to not playing them in the preseason games, so we must get things squared away during these practices

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

Agreed.

Hopefully it's an intense week of work.

LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

Nothing simulates the play of a game like the game itself. This nonsense of not playing starters is ridiculously stupid. Watson has played...what...12-14 games in 3 years. He needs to play in every pre-season game...even if for one series. I fear we are going to look unprepared (AGAIN) for the start of the season.

At the start of last season the Browns beat the Bengals 24-3 in the first game. Lost a close game with the Steelers in the second game and beat the Titans 27-3 in the third game.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

My initial hypothesis was that Watson is a slow starter and sensitive to what people think so they didn’t want to put him in a preseason game, perform poorly against backups and vanilla schemes, and crush his confidence.

Now that he’s playing the last game I guess my theory is bunk.

In general I don’t care about preseason games. Would like to see intensity in practice. I’ve never seen so much 7-on-7 footage in my life.

Bottom line is that they want to be careful with him and limit the chances of him getting hurt in the pre season.

This was from the Athletic on the Niners canceling their joint practice:

Quote
Cancelling the joint practice is a big deal for Shanahan. He’s said for years that the practices — which had been conducted in Denver, Minnesota, Los Angeles and Las Vegas in recent years — are more important than preseason games.

This isn’t a Stefanski thing, other coaches have the same philosophy.
