And you will probably go to jail because you see no way of winning the election.

Thanks for sharing- his own words, he never answers questions- like when asked his favorite Bible verses....or was he an Old Testament or New Testament reader.....ugh, both....his old brain is fried, can't name a single Bible verse he likes......sad......anyone but Trump. He is MUCH TO OLD.

Yet, you were going to vote for older biden. Odd.

I read the Bible every single morning. I have no favorite verse. I am in NO way condoning trumps personal life. Actually, I disagree with it in a huge way.

But, c'mon man, at least be fair. You were going to vote for an old man that didn't know where he was most of the time, and could only read parts of the teleprompter, and still not make sense.

You do realize the word "were" is past tense right? I think that's kind of the point of the thread. As we can see by your post, your side is the only one left having to make excuses for an old demented guy and here you are doing it. So you also can't name some Bible verses you like or quote any Bible verses? Come on now man.

During a bumbling press conference at Mar-a-Lago on Thursday, the Republican presidential nominee deflected a direct question probing his reasoning for claiming that the biracial Democrat had “turned Black.”

“Kamala Harris’s father is Jamaican American, and she went to a historically Black college,” prompted a reporter, referring to Harris’s attendance at Howard University. “How is she only recently deciding to be Black?”

“You’ll have to ask her that question because she’s the one that said it. I didn’t say it,” Trump said. “But I’ve known her a long time, I actually contributed to her campaign a long time ago, because I was a developer—I contributed to lots of campaigns, to Democrats, Republicans; some were liberal, some were conservative, but you’ll have to ask her about that.

“To me it doesn’t matter,” he continued. “But to her, from her standpoint, I think it’s very disrespectful to both, really. Whether it’s Indian or Black, I think it’s very disrespectful to both. To me it doesn’t matter.”

‘I guess we all look alike’: Trump accused of mixing up Black politicians in helicopter story

Ex-California state senator Nate Holden says he, not Willie Brown, was on helicopter that made emergency landing

Nate Holden, the former Los Angeles city council member and California state senator, said that he was on the helicopter ride with Donald Trump that was forced to make an emergency landing.

In an interview with Politico on Friday, Holden, who is now 95, referred to the former San Francisco mayor Willie Brown, who Trump insisted was on the helicopter ride, saying: “Willie is the short Black guy living in San Francisco … I’m a tall Black guy living in Los Angeles.”

He added: “I guess we all look alike.”

Holden’s interview followed Trump’s press conference on Thursday, in which the former president claimed to “know Willie Brown very well” and recalled an alleged story in which he “went down in a helicopter with him”.

Trump said: “We thought, maybe this is the end. We were in a helicopter going to a certain location together, and there was an emergency landing. This was not a pleasant landing, and Willie was … a little concerned. So I know him pretty well.”

Shortly after the press conference, Brown spoke to San Francisco-based radio station KRON4 and denied the story, saying: “I’ve never done business with Donald Trump, let’s start with that. And secondly, I don’t think I’d want to ride on the same helicopter with him. There’s too many people that have an agenda with reference to him, including the people who service helicopters!”

Reports ultimately emerged that the helicopter ride in question was a 2018 one during which Trump and then California governor Jerry Brown inspected wildfire damage.

Then governor-elect Gavin Newsom was also on that ride. Speaking to the New York Times, Newsom said: “I call complete BS. I was on a helicopter with Jerry Brown and Trump, and it didn’t go down.”

Holden, in the Politico interview, recalled a helicopter ride with Trump that he believes happened in 1990; he told the outlet that he had been in touch with Trump because Trump was trying to build on the site of the Ambassador hotel in Los Angeles – an area Holden represented at the time.

Holden added that he met Trump at Trump Tower and they were then on their way to Atlantic City, New Jersey, where they were going to tour Trump’s Taj Mahal casino.

Trump’s late brother Robert, the attorney Harvey Freedman and Barbara Res, Trump’s former executive vice-president of construction and development, were alongside Holden and Trump, Politico said.

Res confirmed to the outlet that the man in question was definitely Holden.

In her book All Alone on the 68th Floor, which Politico reviewed, Res recalled the helicopter ride, writing: “From the corner of my eye, I can see in the cockpit, and what I see is the co-pilot pumping a device with all his might.”

“Very shortly thereafter the pilot let us know he had lost some instruments and we would need to make an emergency landing,” she continued, writing, “By now, the helicopter was shaking like crazy.”

Donald and Robert Trump were both reassuring Holden, who told Politico that it was Donald Trump who “was white as snow … [and] scared $#!+less”.

So what does the old demented guy do in response? Doubles down on the lie.

Trump doubles down on scary helicopter trip story

Why is trump so fixated on crowd size that he feels the need to continually lie about it? I almost forget, that's his #1 go to thing to do. Lie about everything....

But ripping off Celine Dion as he has done so many recording artists in the past seems right on brand for trump. Then there's playing a song from a movie about a sinking ship? Maybe he already knows what's coming?

The Titanic song use is hilarious. He’s such a massive moron.
Hey don, stick to Kid Rock or Ted Nugent. Maybe Scott Baio will write a song for you? No one else in the arts, musics or otherwise, really wants to be associated with you.

He uses a popular song from a movie about a sinking ship. Sounds appropriate to me!

Everytime a Goper watches that movie they think the Titantic won’t go down. But it always does. You’d have to be demented or have a hole in your head to use that song.

He can't help talking and he keeps digging a deeper hole daily. Good for the country.

Yup. Combine that with their 2016 coronation of one of the least likable political personalities imaginable at the DNC and you have yourself a perfect storm.

That's one reason Biden is no longer running and you're the only one left with an old demented guy. It's odd how you call the people who fixed their problem 2 faced while you're still the one supporting what they already fixed. Besides, who in their right mind would support a guy that tried to over throw our election in 2020, was convicted on 34 felony counts that a jury found to have sexually assaulted a woman as president? Nobody should be surprised they would vote for anyone but him.

And if you want to talk about 2 faced. The very people who claim to stand for law and order, family values, Christian values and against the abuse of women are going to vote for this guy? I think 2 faced fits pretty well there.

I'm with you on that front. The Dems definitely have doubled down on that status quo, and it now appears both parties have really sent the "Fall in line or else!" messaging out. A lot of the Republicans who were ousted (Kinzinger, Cheney, Gonzo, etc) following the impeachment vote, I would much prefer over either candidate we're seeing right now.

I think if (and that's a big if) the Republicans lose this cycle, they will have another chance to clean house. If they can get the right people to "renovate" the party and clean up the messaging to appear to more independents, I think they could really be a force. My bigger hope is along the lines of other discussions that we've had where a third party legitimately can emerge due to everyone's discontent and really challenge the status quo.

I think it all needs a big house cleaning no matter which way you look at it.

Only because it was easier to us Perplexity AI than to try to express it all in my own words (plus, I've got things to do today and so far I'm letting this time-vampire sink it's teeth in way too deep)...

What are the pitfalls of a three party system?

Answer:

A three-party system, or the presence of a strong third party in a predominantly two-party political system, presents several challenges and pitfalls:

Electoral Challenges: In the United States, the electoral system is predominantly winner-take-all, which poses significant barriers to third-party success. This system awards legislative seats only to the candidate or party that receives the most votes, making it difficult for third-party candidates to win elections. As a result, third parties often struggle to gain the name recognition and organizational support that major parties enjoy.

Impact on Major Party Elections: A third-party candidate can influence the outcome of elections by drawing votes away from major party candidates. This can tilt the contest in favor of one of the major parties, potentially leading to a scenario where a candidate wins with a narrow majority or a plurality, which can undermine the perceived legitimacy of the election results.

Legislative and Governance Issues: Even if a third-party candidate were to win a significant position, such as the presidency, they would face challenges in governance. With few allies in the legislative branch, a third-party president might struggle to pass legislation or implement policies, as they would lack the support of a cohesive party in Congress.

Voter Confusion and Cognitive Load: The presence of multiple parties can increase the cognitive burden on voters, who must educate themselves about the platforms and ideologies of several parties. This can lead to confusion, especially when minor parties have names or platforms that closely resemble those of major parties.

Incorporation of Third-Party Platforms: Major parties often absorb the platforms of third parties, which can dilute the distinctiveness of third-party agendas and lead voters to support major party candidates who have adopted these issues, further marginalizing third-party efforts.

Despite these challenges, third parties can play a crucial role in drawing attention to neglected issues and invigorating democratic processes by offering alternative viewpoints and encouraging voter participation.

These are obviously all "solvable", but not very easily. The question is, then what makes the entire "system" better because there are three parties?

I'm hopeful for a better form of "democracy" that will (if ever) happen way beyond my lifetime. Which is unfortunate, because all the technology is here now. Imagine a world where it's Friday and you're marching through your day looking forward to a nice weekend. On Fridays, public service messages are ubiquitous on all channels of media as required by the new media regulations. You are reminded of the preliminary vote on Tuesday for the new climate deal. You sit at or stand with your device on Tuesday and cast your vote, along with a series of checkboxes for why you voted the way you did: "too much pork, not clear enough, budget needs trimmed, this issue means nothing to me, etc, etc..." From this preliminary response, changes are made and language is crafted for a chance at passage, which requires a strict, high, majority threshold. Things can be massaged and changed until that threshold is met, but after the servants drag their feet through version three, the whole thing is scrapped in favor of a new perspective.

Is there any reason why we couldn't do that today?? No, none. The encryption of a simple CC transaction takes a supercomputer 3000 years to decode, so it's obviously "safe".

We've been told our entire lives that our vote matters when generally our vote means nothing. Pit talks about the futility of voting the democratic ticket in TN and he's spot on. Our individual vote doesn't really matter, getting involved matters. I think a lot of Americans would become much more involved and spend much more time understanding "issues" if this whole thing was turned inside-out and we told our servants what we want, rather than them constantly trying to convince us of what we need.

Farfetched? Maybe.

The problem being you must depend on the people in charge to do away with the electoral college for any of this to work. They have zero incentive to loosen their reign of power.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

That is the ever-present elephant in the room.

Strangely, since it's two different conversations at the moment, I thought we lost our biggest opportunity during the crash. And there's decent reason to believe that's why people sat behind so many closed doors with little transparency to come up with the "solution"... fear that we may take this thing back.

About a year afterwards I had a conversation with my son. I watched everything play out very closely and realized we, as a nation, would have probably been better off if the whole bottom fell out and we made like Rage Against the Machine. The conversation was real simple, "nothing will ever change as long as we can keep John American on the couch".

At every level, from middle class to poverty, they give us just enough of what is needed to keep us there. A real crash may have gotten us to go outside our little boxes and start demanding some real answers... and fight for some real change.

At least when I may ask myself "where is my beautiful wife?" I immediately know the answer... off buying some New Shoes. But that's a different song. 🤣
