I agree. But not so much because I think DTR has some great value on the open market. He's very unproven and only going into his second season with little to base his rookie year on. I don't think NFL teams in general feeling he would be worth significant compensation. Your point about having a proven track record speaks volumes in that regard.

The reason I think the Browns would require significant compensation is because DTR has upside and potential where Huntley is pretty much a finished product. I felt bad for DTR last season when he was thrown into the fire on such short notice. But I have certainly seen things from DTR that give me signs of optimism. Much like it seems you do, I want to see how that plays out. It's far too early in the process for me to try and predict the end results we will see from DTR, but Huntley is who Huntley is and DR's ceiling is still unknown. I think there's more to be gained in seeing where his ceiling is rather than hold onto a back-up that will be third string.

It's all about upside with DTR at this point. Huntley has a higher floor based on results at this point, but DTR has a higher ceiling

Caleb Williams has Mahomes-like attributes, some Rodgers, too. NFCN should be a fun division to watch this season...

Also, the Bears should send a case of champagne to the Falcons for allowing Rome Odunze to fall to them.

I'd move Huntley too because he is more valuable as a #2 than DTR is at this point. DTR 'might' have more upside to get better, plus he is a bit younger, to warrant keeping in some capacity. At this point, he seems like a career backup and might end up just like Huntley.

I think there is 0% chance Winston gets traded. He is the backup and can still lead a team to a win.

Yeah, Winston has some value for us to keep. He's not better than Watson, but could still win games for us if needed (and he will be)

I don't see what the big deal is about that pass.. it was 3 yards away. Don't get me wrong PM is good, but people acting like this is some omen that they going to win out...

Some people are harder to impress than others obviously. It wasn't a basketball game.

Coach says he wants him to start doing that in games. I want to see it on Dec 15 in Cleveland... and watch JOK snag it and return it for a TD. That would be even more impressive.

I think mental reps are more important.

I tried to type that with a straight face.

Browns camp wins the 7 on 7 championship every year. It seems like we barely practice real football.

This is the first year since I can remember that I feel like our July/August was pretty meaningless. It seemed like we sat way too many guys, took days off, etc

Jason Lloyd said this training camp has had a weird vibe. He said he hadn’t been there very much but when he was and from what people told him it has been “weird”.

I’m not sure what to make of that comment other than I think we can expect a record anywhere between 6-11 and 13-4. Neither would surprise me. Stefanski alternates good years and bad years. We are on the bad year cycle.

thats a word I would use to describe it too - even from an outside perspective. It seems like there is no rhythm or consistency in any regard

I honestly just think Watson carries a weird vibe with him

I think it’s 100% being totally preoccupied and ptsd about injuries. I mean, last year it was at such an absurd level that they probably feel being unprepared in the early season is much preferred to having an IR list as long as your arm at the end of the season.

Of course I don’t think anything works that way. It’s odd how we’re still suffering a major injury bug even though we’re going easy on all the starters. I guess the good news is that, apart from Ward, none of the starters (that I can remember) got injured this camp. The bug hit the backups. Still sucks and we’re definitely going to feel it all season.

My take on Ski as a coach is that he’s good with his back up against a wall, when he doesn’t have many options and just has to make due on the fly but, so far, hasn't shown he’s good when he has the full benefit of the near complete suite of players and the time to shine up the finished product. Even with our injuries, this year is about as close as we’ve been since 99 to having legit starters in all positions and a stable staff. There’s still holes and little depth in key areas but if Watson doesn’t take THE big step this year, it’s going to up to Ski to chess it out. We’ll see if going easy in camp pays off.

I’ve made this same thought on here. And it is also very similar to Baker. They are both better as dogs than favorites.

Yet went 11-6 last year and making the playoffs even after having to Flacco off the couch to do it and Stefanski being NFL coach of the year. To most people results mean something. But obviously not everyone.

That was last year and I'm sure Browns fans everywhere enjoyed the 2023 accomplishments.

The Browns management set out to improve the offensive side of the team during the off-season and Browns fans are eager to see the offense perform.

Browns fans want more than a 'one and done' playoff appearance and the expectations for 2024 are high.

Time to turn the calendar as a new NFL season is upon us.

I know in your world it's circumstances be damned. So if watson gets injured in week 6 for the season you expect better than a 1 and done playoff appearance? Sometimes a fans "wants" do not measure up to reality.

Someone said 'All of our starters should expect to play'...

Is this reality...or is this simply BS intended to avoid the truth..?

Not having Nick Chubb last season probably had an effect on the numbers. Our ability to run between the tackles wasn't great (to put it nicely) last year. Our WRs were probably better than our RBs. To me, it makes sense to be in formations that use your better players more. Unfortunately, we also had some QB ...difficulties which limited the offense's effectiveness regardless of formation/personnel group.

In 2022, we lost a lot of games. Our run defense was an abomination. The defensive coordinator was let go. Teams throw more when playing from behind. Opponents will play to prevent the big passing play with a lead.

Numbers without context don't tell the whole story. Nick Chubb has been a stud. He opens things up for others when teams have to worry about him running.

I hate to see it. He was a good player for the Browns who had a lot of good moments.

Unless you’re elite, NFL careers really are short.
