Okay! I think people are way overreacting. The sky is not falling! This is a 17-week season. Have a beer and get ready for the season!
First, Berry has not been able to fix an issue thus far. It sometimes may not be the best, but at least he did his best with the available materials.
Second, you better all get prepared to see this offense struggle in the first half of the season. Again, it is not the end of the world!
This is all about making the playoffs and winning in the playoffs. Seventeen games is an attrition war. Having injured players return mid-way through the season is not a bad thing. It beats getting injured halfway through the season.
Stafanski is a mastermind when things are in disarray. Why do we want to have everything perfect before the start?
Now is the time to make sure the recliner is in working order. The second fridge is functioning and check ads for beer sales! Maybe, it's time to upgrade your TV, you know, for the Super Bowl! Get resupplied with charcoal or gas. It's fall you still can grill!
There are way more things to worry about than the Browns having everything perfect to start the season. I would be more concerned if things were not in chaos mode.

I think I have a solution to keep our starters healthy. We should start the season with all our backups playing. By doing this our starters won't get hurt. Then, if our backups get hurt then and only then we can replace them with our starters. Problem solved!!! lol this is the issue I have with the mentality of resting starters all preseason. People get hurt, its a contact sport. i almost rather a starter get dinged in preseason so you can go find a better replacement during cutdowns etc. But the bigger issue is no continuity when it counts. As far as the depth on Oline... it was an issue last year, still an issue this year.. Berry gets an F for that. He has time still to bring in some depth, Okorafor isn't depth, thats just a traffic cone to practice with. Maybe the team is being extra cautious with Wills/Conklin but Will is either super soft, or he's had a setback the team isn't disclosing, but he's taken as long as Chubb and Chubb is farther ahead with a much much worse injury at a position that exacerbates the need to take time to make sure its healed
Tomorrow is the most important thing in life. Comes into us at midnight very clean. It's perfect when it arrives and it puts itself in our hands. It hopes we've learned something from yesterday. -John Wayne

I think it's all dependent on the situation. If your opponents aren't using their starters there's nothing to be gained by using your starters against second and third string players. Unless you're using all of your starters on the OL, it would be dumb to risk the health of your QB behind a subpar OL. There's also the fact that unless you're using your staring WR's, having your starting QB in the game isn't going to do anything to build cohesion between him and the starters.
Often times I don't believe people put the proper emphasis on what the preseason games are actually for. A team already knows for the most part who their starters will be. Teaching them the system and cohesion is for training camp. The preseason is for setting the remainder of your roster. We all know that injuries are going to happen. If you already know who your starters are the next most critical question becomes who will replace them when those injuries happen?
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this the big reason why you draft a guy like this (draft low then build him up in order to flip him for a higher draft pick)?
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

I suppose, but that doesn't always happen. Virtually by definition being a late round pick, your prospects are tough to make it long in the NFL let alone increase your value as a 5th-7th rounder. Sure, it's happened but I'd bet its not the norm over the macro level of all draft picks in those rounds. I think the Browns were/are hoping he can be a long-term back up QB (IMO, that all I've seen so far) but having 4 QBs on the roster means you can ship off and get future capital if the opportunity presents itself. As I said a couple of days ago, I would have thought that Huntley would have been more likely but I am not at all surprised, if this report is true, that they are looking at DTR instead, or in addition to, Huntley.
Edit to add: Remember, since Berry and Stefanski have been with the Browns, they've opened the season with only two QBs on the 53-man roster. I'm pretty sure Watson and Winston have that locked up already.

I like what I have seen so far from DTR. In fact I believe he could be an NFL starter.
However, I would be open to trade him. He is a third string guy. He has no immediate future with the Browns.
A trade could help the team this year. We can always find a second string QB. I don't see the Browns giving up on DW.
If we could get a LT starter or legit swing tackle. Yes I would trade DTR.

I don't think it's possible to get a starting LT or even a legitimate swing tackle for DTR. Maybe as part of the trade deal but certainly not even up.

I agree probably not. But, with a package maybe.
Or, maybe a solid second string guy.
I want to improve the team if possible now. We need to get this done while we have guys in their prime.
If I am AB I am open to exploring anything. I would be shopping and be open if there is value. We made a great move to get Cooper.
There are deals to be made. I think Greg Newsome is a valuable asset. I like him as a player. But I would be open to move him for the right player.
This is a good time to look at the roster and be objective as to how it can be improved.

I'm not really surprised. Me, either. I think they'd gladly keep him, but the state of the OL, quality of depth at other positions, and the kicking game changes might have impacted what they think is the ideal roster construction/positional disposition now. 3rd string QB doesn't play special teams. Ideally, he (whoever the 3rd QB is) would never play. Depth elsewhere will actually see the field. With Hopkins injury history, I wouldn't be surprised if we don't use him on the new kickoffs. We might only keep 2 QBs on the 53. If they don't think they can get him to the practice squad, exploring his trade value could make sense.

I don't disagree with you. The window won't be open for much longer and they have to make the most of it now. I have at least some level of trust in the current FO.

I have been waiting till next year for too many years.
I am running low on time.
Berry is a good GM. I do trust him. You have to find a deal that both parties feel is beneficial. Sometimes you can't find a match.
I have turned cold on Wills. I was patient. I knew he was young when drafted and that he played RT.
I have not seen the improvement I expected. I see an inconsistent player. Inconsistent in technique and effort.
I cannot tell how he has rehabbed. Maybe he is still not right. I don't know. But if he cannot play his value to the team is near an end. He has missed time and not lived up to his contract as a first round pick.

If we could trade DTR for a pick and/or solution at one of the tackle spots? Gotta do it
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Wouldn't Winston and Huntley give the FO a better chance of gaining a better player that is needed on the OL ? Could Winston get the team deep into the play-offs or would it look like last season. Could it look any different if DTR is playing in the back up spot. Again no one knows. I would keep DTR and get the much needed OL if trading Winston and Huntley would put the FO in the situation to do so. Winston and Huntley have the game time experience over DTR and that's a plus. Without a solid OL could any of them be successful ?

The depth chart at QB is DW, Winston, DTR.
If DW was injured Winston would give us the best chance to win. He is a proven player in the NFL with way more experience than DTR.
I doubt there is much interest in Huntley. DTR is a different story.
He would fit with a number of teams as a starter with a future. The Vikings, Raiders, Giants to name a few.
If I were a team in the QB market I would look at DTR. I hate to say this because it is the Steelers. But if I were Pittsburgh I would look into DTR.
He has better pocket presence than Wilson or Fields has right now.

Huntley hasn't looked very good in the preseason, and based on the contract he signed with us the league didn't ascribe much value to him. Winston is only under contract for one year, so probably doesn't have a ton of trade value, either. One year rentals that will have to learn new offenses as a QB aren't especially valuable to the acquiring team right away. DTR is under contract through '26 for peanuts and some feel he has shown promise. Having a rookie contract at QB for multiple years is valuable. But, to me, he's still not ready, and we appear to be in win now mode. He's got athleticism and some it factor, but the accuracy leaves something to be desired. Could the accuracy concerns be chemistry related? Sure, but he's not likely going to get the reps to do much about it this year. We could draft a QB next year to develop whether we keep DTR or not. Trying to figure out which collection of players will provide the most value to the team is going to be tough this year. Weighing the compensation that could be acquired may be a factor for many guys on the roster.

This week should be interesting the starters will play.
DW will see his first action since being injured. I am sure a few guys will be held out. I don't know how long to see the first string?
I am not worried about the defense. I know the talent is there along with the coaching. They will be good.
I hope to see some rhythm to the offense. I want to see how we space the field. What the route trees look like.
The run game has been putrid so far. So, I want to see if we can run the ball. The offense has something to prove. There is a new OC. He was brought in to work with DW.
I want to see what that looks like.
This will be our only look before Dallas. The outcome of course doesn't mean a thing. What counts is confidence in what we are doing.

Alot of checkdowns and short passes. 126 yards 0 TDs and 1 int. thats not really any improvement from last year. We have to hope some team is willing to take a gamble on his ceiling and part with something of value. I don't think we have the time to wait and see if he becomes something. We have 2 QB's that can win games now. We don't need any projects with what we are hoping to do, this isn't a team in rebuild. I think the success of this offense is going to come down to the play of the OL and running game, without that its going to be rough sledding.

DTR played a limited amount of time.
By accounts from those who have watched him daily. He has had a good Camp.
In the pre-season games he has made some good throws. One in the back of the end zone that fit into a tight window. It was negated because a OL was downfield.
Overall he showed good poise and played with confidence. He is mobile and shows a good arm.
He is still a project but reports state he is drawing interest from teams. He could develop into a decent QB if he gets the right opportunity.

Appreciate the good feedback. Thanks ! DTR is definitely better than some guys we've trotted out there. He has good flashes, but I've noticed late, high, and behind balls a decent bit. Sometimes he gets away with it, sometimes he doesn't. More of a "gamer" than a by the numbers QB at this point. When he tries to play "by the numbers," he appears to not quite be there yet. Gamer can be a great attribute, but it's hard to rely on. When he sees it he can throw it, but the timing and anticipation stuff seem to be a work in progress. It takes a lot of QBs time, though, especially when they're not getting starter's reps. On the other hand, some never quite seem to figure it out. I do think there are things there to develop.

I’m telling you this. The only difference between DTR and guys drafted in the first round is the first round guys get more chances and more benefit of the doubt. Sailing balls? No one sailed more balls than Baker. Guys like DTR can’t make any mistakes at all or else they’re labeled based on their draft position …”I haven’t seen anything that makes me think he’s more than a backup”. Draft status should be a factor but we are also talking about a rookie who lead his team on a game winning drive against a really good Steelers D. Made big time throws that drive. Super composed. Cried on the sideline after because he cares so much
This isn’t baby carrots. This is legit feet and arm talent. Just needs to be developed.
Browns will regret trading him in my opinion.
LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

All this talk because: The Browns have, “discussed a potential trade of second-year quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson with multiple teams, two league sources with knowledge of the discussions told The Athletic.” Spins these headlines: "DTR named potential trade piece" "Browns exploring trade..." "Browns willing to engage..." As far as we know, there are a bunch of people around the league impressed (again) with his play. That doesn't mean we're seeking a trade. BUT... if there a few teams asking anyway, why not float that headline? The seller always wins when there is a bidding war. If I'm GM, I'm asking for a high third or better. Otherwise, I'm happy to keep him. His play has done nothing to dissuade me from the continuing the process -- he works his butt off, has a great arm, is throwing with more anticipation, and throws a very catchable ball. I'd say he throws about the sexiest ball I've ever seen come from a Browns QB's hand, and can put a dent in a brick wall with it. When you combine that with the fact that we're starting year three with Watson and still don't know what we have, trading someone that still has the (slim) upside of future starter is premature if all you're getting is peanuts.

I don’t claim to be an QB expert but I really didn’t see it last year. Granted, starting against the ravens in your first game is a doozy of an assignment but I wouldn’t say he looked remotely “poised”, or even promising in either that or the Steelers or Broncos games. He has some good plays, some good passes but It seemed like they limited him a lot in the games after the ravens. And yea, he was rook and I get he can and will likely grow and seems like a super kid with a lot of drive but I just can’t put much stock in camp reports and preseason games… like ever. Every year since 99 we’ve had some QB light it up in camp and preseason and then pffft when the real bullets start flying. So many who have mountains of trophies from college and all the right measurables have come and gone. If we can work a deal for a decent backup tackle, I say take it and don’t look back.

Unsurprising. Money talks. He seems like a dummy, so I fully expect him to screw up again. A la Winfrey-style. Losers can't help themselves. Would love to be proven wrong.

They’ll sign him again next off season.
LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

At DT, context and meaning are a scarecrow kicking at moving goalposts.

For years I’ve had a hard time reconciling Ken’s voice with his body.

You were right from the start on this ‘Peen. Played out exactly as you predicted. I think that she was definitely a victim of some type of abuse here. They have a little one, and her mother is also in the picture. - In my opinion, she wants to separate, get full custody of the kid, and half of his money. -Then in her mind, she, mom, and the baby then all live happily ever after. - While he pays for it.
In Ohio, or maybe just cuyahoga county, many of the women that I help with their disabled children are frustrated because “father’s have rights” and usually get split custody. That means little to no child support. One way around it is to prove that the guy is physically dangerous.
Obviously, exactly like you stated, he is the money man, but hasn’t made any money yet. So this is a strategic move by her so to not jeopardize whatever money she can get in the future.
My concerns about him — It’s a known fact that the seniors on Ohio State’s defense, and defensive line in particular, all chose to stay put this year so that they could pursue a national championship together. - From what I’ve heard, he was never part of these conversations amongst teammates. Could be wrong but it’s possible that he’s got some mental issues that turn people away.

For years I’ve had a hard time reconciling Ken’s voice with his body. If they’re on the radio I make the assumption they’re rotund. See: Ken Carman, Nick Wilson, Adam the Bull, G-Bush, Nick Paulus, Trivisonno (he’s dead now), etc.. It’s a sedentary job.
