Teams are starting to trim their roster getting ready for regular season.

The Colts got the ball rolling on their moves to get to 53 players on Sunday.

The team announced nine cuts from their 90-man roster, including the release of safety Ronnie Harrison. Harrison signed with the Colts last August, moved to their practice squad and then played in seven games during the regular season.

Harrison had 20 tackles, two interceptions, and a sack in those appearances. The 2018 Jaguars third-round pick played 28 games in Jacksonville and 39 in Cleveland before joining the Colts.

The Colts also released wide receiver Tyrie Cleveland, defensive end Derek Rivers, and wide receiver Greg Ward. They waived cornerback Clay Fields III, kicker Spencer Shrader, quarterback Kedon Slovis, wide receiver Derek Slywka, and linebacker Mike Smith Jr.

The Jaguars confirmed the previously reported release of wide receiver Denzel Mims on Sunday afternoon and they also announced nine other cuts from their 90-man roster.

Mims was released along with cornerback Tevaughn Campbell, tight end Chris Myarick, and offensive lineman Keaton Sutherland.

Campbell had three tackles in seven games for the Jags over the last two seasons. Mims, Myarick and Sutherland had previous regular season experience with other clubs.

The Jaguars also placed six players on waivers. Defensive end Raymond Johnson, defensive tackle Jonathan Marshall, linebacker Andrew Parker Jr., wide receiver Joseph Scates, defensive end Breeland Speaks, and wide receiver Seth Williams.

Speaks was a 2018 second-round pick by the Chiefs, but his best football has come in spring leagues. He led the USFL in sacks last year and was named the defensive player of the year in the UFL earlier this year.

Report: Rams give Ernest Jones permission to seek a trade

Linebacker Ernest Jones may be on the move in the coming days.

Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reports that the Rams have given Jones and his agents permission to talk to other teams about a trade. Jones is in the final year of his contract and has reportedly talked to the Rams about an extension, but no progress has been made on that front.

Jones was a 2021 third-round pick in Los Angeles and he’s played 50 regular season and playoff games for the team. He’s started 35 of those games and has 320 tackles, 5.5 sacks, three interceptions, and a forced fumble during his time with the team.

Teams around the league have to cut their rosters to 53 players by Tuesday afternoon and anyone underwhelmed by their linebacker options may be curious to see what it would take to bring Jones to town.

Let's hope someone accidentally cuts a good OT

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

From Profootball talk;

The Vikings have announced their first wave of cuts and it includes a quarterback and a veteran defender.

Minnesota waived Matt Corral after the quarterback recently joined the club following J.J. McCarthy’s season-ending knee injury. He completed 4-of-6 passes for 13 yards in preseason play.

Cornerback A.J. Green was released after he signed a futures deal with Minnesota in January. He has appeared in 34 regular-season games over the last four seasons with Cleveland.

The Vikings also waived running back DeWayne McBride, tight end Sammis Reyes, running back Mo Ibrahim, cornerback Jaylin Williams, tight end Neal Johnson, receiver Justin Hall, outside linebacker Owen Porter, offensive lineman Chuck Filiaga, offensive lineman Doug Nester, offensive lineman Matt Cindric, offensive lineman Spencer Rolland, and defensive lineman Tyler Manoa.

All rosters must be reduced to 53 players by Tuesday afternoon’s deadline.

He was a good corner for the Browns as well imo.

LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

Yet another notable WR is now available. The Panthers have parted ways with WR and former second-round pick Terrace Marshall, who had a solid training camp with the team that drafted him back in 2021. the 24-year-old Marshall caught just 64 passes in three years in Carolina.

And now we have a former starting quarterback on the open market. The Cardinals are releasing former Falcons starting QB Desmond Ridder, via NFL Media. Ridder, formally the Falcons' starting QB, was in a position battle with Clayton Tune.
