With the last thread being on page 13 it was time to start another one.....

Trump shares social media posts with QAnon phrases and calls for jailing lawmakers, special counsel

NEW YORK (AP) — Donald Trump shared more than a dozen posts on his social media network Wednesday that call for the trial or jailing of House lawmakers who investigated the attack on the U.S. Capitol, special counsel Jack Smith and others, along with images that reference the QAnon conspiracy theory.

The former president began posting a string of messages Tuesday evening after Smith filed a new indictment against him over his efforts to undo his loss in the 2020 presidential election. The new indictment keeps the same criminal charges but narrows the allegations against Trump following a Supreme Court opinion last month that extended broad immunity to former presidents.

Trump reposted a doctored image that was made to look like President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in orange prison jumpsuits, among other political figures, and a lewd post about Harris and Clinton that referenced a sex act. One post seemed to suggest former President Barack Obama should be tried in a military court.

Trump has long talked about seeking retribution against perceived enemies if he wins a second term. He has publicly bristled in recent weeks at the advice of his campaign advisers to focus his message on policy around the economy and the border rather than indulge in personal attacks that were seen as distracting from the case he’s trying to make to voters.
His campaign did not respond to a message seeking comment Wednesday about the flurry of posts on Truth Social, the former president’s social media network where he communicates primarily to his most devoted base of supporters.

Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, the Republican candidate posted messages in his own words reacting to the indictment and renewing his complaints about the gag order he’s under in his New York hush money criminal case.

One post featured an image of Trump and former President Barack Obama with the words, “All roads lead to Obama... retruth if you want public military tribunals.”

Some of the other posts Trump shared included phrases circulated among followers of QAnon, the pro-Trump conspiracy theory, including “Nothing can stop what is coming,” “Hold the line” and “WWG1WGA”, which is an initialism for “Where we go one, we go all.”

Trump in recent years has openly embraced followers of QAnon after years of winking at the theory, centered on the baseless belief that Trump is waging a secret campaign against enemies in the “deep state” and a child sex trafficking ring run by satanic pedophiles and cannibals.

The former president’s indulgence of the conspiracy theory is among the ways Trump has embraced the far-right fringe of his political movement. Trump has also championed those jailed for their role in the violent Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Trump is listed as an invited guest speaker at the J6 Awards Gala fundraiser on Sept. 5 at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, for defendants charged in the insurrection. The event is advertised online as intending to “honor and celebrate the twenty defendants who contributed to the powerful ‘Justice For All’ song.”

Trump has played the song — a version of the Star-Spangled Banner sung by a group of defendants jailed over their alleged roles in the 2021 violence and recorded over a jail phone line, overlaid with Trump reciting the Pledge of Allegiance — at some of his campaign rallies in recent years.

On Wednesday, Trump’s campaign confirmed that the GOP nominee won’t be in attendance at next week’s J6 Awards Gala. Organizers for the event, which also lists Rudy Giuliani and Anthony Raimondi as speakers, did not immediately return a message Wednesday seeking more details.

The former president vowed to pardon many of those convicted. He has in the past spoken at or recorded messages for groups fundraising to support the defendants, including one at his Bedminster club last year, and in March 2023 hosted a dinner for family members of the defendants.

'I'm Actually Afraid': 2-Time Trump Voter Turns On 'Unstable' Former President
MSNBC's Katie Phang shows how a "Trumpier" Trump may not be resonating with his own voters.

MSNBC’s Katie Phang said on Tuesday that Donald Trump’s rambling campaign rallies could be hurting the former president with some of his own biggest supporters.

At some events, scores of rallygoers have been seen scrambling for the exits long before Trump is done speaking.

And Phang noted one former supporter who left a Trump rally saying she won’t vote for him this time around, in part because of what she heard.

“I voted for him in 2016 and had a Trump flag in the front yard. I voted for him again in 2020 but didn’t put the flag out that time,” a voter named Jenny told The Guardian, adding:

I’ve been thinking of voting for him again because Biden’s been so bad for the economy and Kamala won’t be any better. But after listening to that, I’m actually afraid of Trump being president again. I don’t know what he was talking about half the time. Perhaps he was always like that but he seems worse, more unstable.

Phang also pointed to other recent moments with Trump that were strange even by his standards ― such as smiling and giving a thumbs-up during a photo op at the graves of fallen U.S. Marines, or bragging about how he thinks he’s “much better looking” than Vice President Kamala Harris.

“He’s always been deluded, incoherent, mean-spirited, dishonest and impulsive. That’s just who Trump is,” she said. “But as he ages and struggles to find his footing in a transformed race, Trump’s getting even, shall I say, Trumpier.”

If you believe a Trump supporter came up with that statement on their own in the spur of the moment, I've got a bridge you can buy.

I wonder what ever happened to this guy?

Trump once said a president under felony indictment would grind the government to a halt and create a constitutional crisis

Former President Donald Trump said in 2016 that a president under indictment would “cripple the operations of our government” and create an “unprecedented constitutional crisis” – years before he himself was indicted on federal charges while running for a second term as president.

Trump made the comments nearly seven years ago about Hillary Clinton during the 2016 presidential campaign.

“We could very well have a sitting president under felony indictment and ultimately a criminal trial,” Trump said during a November 5, 2016, campaign rally in Reno, Nevada, reviewed by CNN’s KFile. “It would grind government to a halt.”

“If she were to win, it would create an unprecedented Constitutional crisis that would cripple the operations of our government,” he said. “She is likely to be under investigation for many years, and also it will probably end up – in my opinion – in a criminal trial. I mean, you take a look. Who knows? But it certainly looks that way.”

“She has no right to be running, you know that,” Trump said. “No right.”

Some Trump supporters aren’t complete idiots. Like this one who realized he was on the wrong side. I’m betting we’ll be seeing this a lot more as we get closer to Election Day.

Isn’t he trailing in the polls? I don’t follow much, but that’s what Bill Maher said the other night.

The Democrats were behind when Biden was running. By enough that it was very concerning. The polls tend to vary somewhat now. Everyone these days seems to run a poll so it's hard not to take them with a grain of salt. The major polls I have seen have Kamala tied or with a very slight lead. Even FOX news said she was leading just yesterday. But even those are all within the margin of error so they certainly aren't some telling sign. With a little over two months to go before the election, the election as I see it is anyone's ball game at this juncture.

The one thing I've noticed is the more names trump calls Kamala and the nastier he gets towards her, the more the polls swing in her favor. I think if he wants to actually take control back he needs to stop with all of the personal name calling and hateful rants. He should listen to his campaign people instead of reverting to his hateful instincts. Even at this late date he still may be able to convince some people he isn't who he really is.

He was actively mocking his own campaign advisors earlier this week when they were recommending he stay on the issues so not much chance of that. I think it was Carville who said it last election that Trump’s greatest asset was that when he goes off the reservation, his base gleefully packs up the tents and trailers and rides off into the wilderness right after him. The larger point is that he thrives BECAUSE he goes off, hoisting a stiff middle finger as he heads out the door. His base is 💯% there for that. Hatred of the judgy, sanctimonious left and its perceived rotten stranglehold on the mainstream culture shouldn’t be reasonably and rationally debated topic by topic. They should be mocked and derided and kicked at every turn and so they love ol’ crazy uncle Donny and his fun, empowering if somewhat nonsensical spittle showering rants.

But at some point regular people are going to want to talk about real things and just going full ‘real housewives’ all the time will start to backfire. It hasn’t yet but maybe it will this time? He’s got a real strategic advantage with the immigration issue, potentially with taxes and a small handful of other “real” issues that carry water right now with the “middle third” but he just can never seem to give up that sweet delicious invective he loves so much and has packed the house for him so well in the past. Being a Trump campaign advisor is either the hardest or easiest job in all of politics depending on how much they actually believe or care. He is pure id, agent of chaos, zero superego. Expecting him to find discipline at this stage is pure folly. His campaign people just have to hang on, hope Harris steps in a pie or something big shifts the conversation in the next couple months. I would not be one bit surprised if either or both of those things happen.

I echo whoever said there’s no guessing at this moment who has the upper hand. I regularly read a few well known pollster substacks and blogs across the political landscape and there’s way too much noise in the data for any consensus atm. Any good pollster would concede this. What’s interesting to me is both sides are seemingly trying to play underdog. I understand why but traditionally there’s been more weight paid to playing the presumptive winner at this stage of things. Anyway, there no guessing who will take it Nov 5th. All eyes are on Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, Arizona and small handful of others. I don’t think I can remember a time with less clarity and more momentum shifts in such a short time frame.

I think you properly identified trump's problem. There aren't enough MAGA extremists in the country alone to win the election with. He already has their vote and as you described the more hateful he is the more they like it. It doesn't make a lot of sense for him to continue to cater the the voters he already has the support of. Rational people with whom he needs the votes of want to hear something rational instead of the constant spewing of hate speech.

I don’t know if there are or aren’t enough maga. Electoral college is a helluva drug. Dems have won 9 of the last 10 elections according to popular vote. But geez, that electoral college….

As always, it’s gonna come down to 5 or 6 states. Are there enough maga in those states. Pennsylvania if we want to boil it down to one. Whoever takes Pennsylvania has a much higher chance of winning the whole thing. And as a famous pundit once said, Pennsylvania is Pittsburgh on one end, Philadelphia on the other, and Alabama everywhere else.

Polls are funny things. So much depends on the questions asked and HOW they are asked. It's very hard for me to put faith in any of them.

Fox had a funny thing happen this week..

One of their reporters/hosts said that Trump was way ahead in the polls. Then two of the Fox reporters/hosts proved him wrong. Within an hour! Heres the details

In other words, I honestly don't care what you believe.

I think the issue is that it just uses she with the quote and I took that as still quoting the former Trump supporter "Jenny" from earlier. Think it's actually a quote from the newscaster that was reporting on the woman after reading the article a few times, which would track much better for me.

So showing some seeming media bias, but that's to be expected.

Trump did echo his Thursday comments that he thinks a six-week ban goes too far, but went further on Friday and said he would vote “no.”

“I think six weeks, you need more time,” Trump said. “I disagreed with that right from the early primaries when I heard about it. I disagreed with it. At the same time, the Democrats are radical, because the nine months is just a ridiculous situation where you can do an abortion in the ninth month.”

“All of that stuff is unacceptable so I will be voting no for that reason,” Trump said.

Trump uses Mar-a-Lago as his primary residence and is registered to vote in Florida.

Amendment 4 states that “No law shall prohibit, penalize, delay, or restrict abortion before viability or when necessary to protect the patient’s health, as determined by the patient’s healthcare provider. This amendment does not change the Legislature’s authority to require notification to a parent or guardian before a minor has an abortion.”

Viability is the time at which the fetus could survive on its own, which health professionals say is usually around the 24th week.

Trump also said that states like Minnesota — the state where his opponent’s running mate is governor — allows babies to be executed after birth, which is false.

And people still believe things that come out of this mans pie hole.

Where in the hell does all this crap come from about aborting babies after birth.... Is there any real reason for him to try to sell that?

My guess, for this, is it comes from Walz signing a change to abortion laws. Prior to the change if a baby was born live after a failed abortion attempt the doctor had to use all means necessary to save the life of the baby. Now they must render comfort, but are not required to give life saving care. It is political spin, it is what happens and grumping about it won't stop it.

“No right.”

The truly funny thing is that she sat in front of congress, testified for 11 hours, never once took the fifth (as was her right). When it came time to indict (or whatever congress does) her, they did not. They didn't have the goods. NOTHING!

Yet, they are doing it again to Biden... Hell, he's not even running and still, they talk like they have to goods and yet, they don't impeach him? I'm absolutely sure if they had the goods, they would impeach him... The fact they haven't, tells me they know they don't have the goods.

It's all about appearances. If they can hang things over Biden or Harris or Walz they think that's enough..., Maybe to just cause doubt.

Waste of time.

This is now how people justify an outright, bold faced lie.

So, you're saying it's ok to let babies die after they are born?

I see you're terribly confused as per usual. No surprise there. What I said was made perfectly clear............

Quote
Democrats are radical, because the nine months is just a ridiculous situation where you can do an abortion in the ninth month. All of that stuff is unacceptable so I will be voting no for that reason,” Trump said.

He was speaking about the Florida abortion law and why he would vote the way he will be going. That is a lie. Here is what Florida's actual abortion law would be if passed......

Quote
Amendment 4 states that “No law shall prohibit, penalize, delay, or restrict abortion before viability or when necessary to protect the patient’s health, as determined by the patient’s healthcare provider. This amendment does not change the Legislature’s authority to require notification to a parent or guardian before a minor has an abortion.”

Viability is the time at which the fetus could survive on its own, which health professionals say is usually around the 24th week.

Trump also said this which is yet another blatant lie......

Quote
Trump also said that states like Minnesota — the state where his opponent’s running mate is governor — allows babies to be executed after birth, which is false.

I had no idea you would find this confusing yet had little doubt you would pretend that you did.

I think the real question is why would he change the terminology? Why not just leave it alone?

Governor Tim Walz's decision to change the terminology in the abortion bill regarding babies that survive attempted abortions has been a subject of controversy and debate. Here's an explanation of the changes and their potential implications:

Changes to the Law
In May 2023, Governor Walz signed a bill that altered the language of a previous law concerning infants born alive after attempted abortions2. The key changes were:
The requirement to "preserve the life and health" of the born-alive infant was replaced with a requirement to "care for" the infant.
The phrase "All reasonable measures consistent with good medical practice" was removed.

Potential Implications
Interpretation of Care:
The change from "preserve" to "care for" has raised concerns among pro-life advocates. They argue that this new wording could potentially allow for less aggressive life-saving measures.

Medical Discretion:
The removal of "reasonable measures consistent with good medical practice" might give healthcare providers more discretion in determining the appropriate level of care.

Why don't you tackle the reason for the change in terminology then? Why did Walz change it from "do all you can to preserve life"?

You got the wording wrong. Go back check the actual wording to what you claim. Goal posts moving again? Anyways…Maybe the reason for the change was to remove liability from doctors if the baby didn’t survive very long. The choice was made by the woman. Can’t be blaming doctors for the death now. Just saying. And for a baby to survive this it would need to be a late term abortion which rarely needs to be done.

That makes much more sense. But then when the only thing you have as a source is "(response from Perplexity AI)" that should be expected.

Could you please quote the actual bill itself to insure the accuracy of the wording contained in it?

And no matter you you spin it that doesn't say anything close to "execution".
