Watson is simply not good .. and I'd take it as far as to say he's awful
2021 - never played a snap Year 1 - suspended 10 games, returned and was below average Year 2 - played below average with the exception of 3 quarters, then was hurt for the final 12 games Year 3 - results are not trending in the right direction
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."
Not defending DW but let's face it, he had no time to throw. Sacked 6 times hit many more times hurried. He took a beating. If he wasn't under so much pressure he may have done better.
How many of those were due to the fact he held onto the ball way too long and did not see actual open receivers?
imagine our WRs going from Flacco to Watson. Just a nightmare

No doubt some. Our O has not played together much. In practice yes but not real games. I thought they should have played more in preseason games as most of us said. It showed yesterday. I'm not ready to give up on him yet although I am concerned about his play thus far. He has plenty of games left to turn things around. If he doesn't improve in the next 3-4 games then yes something has to be done. We have too much talent on this team to waste a season.

That's what I had suspected but did not have the stats to support it. Thanks for making things clearer.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

From the Jason Lloyd article…
• Watson averaged 4.16 seconds to throw per pressured dropback Sunday, the eighth-best time under pressure. On sacks that resulted from pressure, he held the ball for 4.29 seconds, the sixth-best time in Week 1.
• On the six sacks he did take, his average time to throw was 4.87 seconds — which ranked 10th.
• Since he joined the Browns in 2022, Watson has been the slowest from snap to throw on pressured dropbacks of any quarterback across the league (4.60 seconds). Tom Brady, who coincidentally called the game for Fox, was the fastest at 3.26 seconds.
Boy do we miss Callahan. He had tons of O-line injuries last year and did light years better than what happened Week 1, especially with all the OL penalties.
and Ford was basically a nothing yesterday. He's as average as it gets .. leaves so many yards on the field, can't push a pile, just Meh

Weren't we saying the exact same thing about Mayfield when that debacle was underway? Not a whattabout... I'm wondering if there is more at play here.
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.
I know the OL had some issues yesterday, but there were ample times where Watson had a clean pocket and then bailed. I can't wait to be rid of the guy...2.5 years from now...

oobs...wondering are you..?
Maybe a replay of the last time the Browns came up with a grand scheme like tanking for draft picks and starting the rebuild process again...who knows..?
Safe to say the Watson trade is a failure. Perhaps the worst trade since '99 and maybe before too. Now we're married to a guy who sucks both on the field and off of it.
It might be leaning that way, but 1 game in to the season might be a bit premature. You might want to save it for another several games.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

Not this season, or at least this early. Now if we only win 5 games this year, we might start some level of rebuild.

So, of those 10 or so pass pays, I saw him under pressure perhaps 3 times. I saw him run INTO pressure about 3 times. I also saw him bail on the pocket a lot.
The OL wasn't good, but it wasn't the main problem yesterday. Watson is literal garbage

Watson was terrible.. He gets paid way too much for not producing. I'd rather have Flacco back. This is going to be a long season if he doesn't improve.
It's supposed to be hard! If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard... is what makes it great!

Fair enough, but if I had to choose between Dorsey/Freddy/Baker or Berry/Stefanski/Deshawn, I’d go with the former.
Exactly right. If I recall correctly, under Kitchens we had two 1000 yard wide receivers, and a 1000 yard running back in a single season. Baker was balling out too.
I think the year we had two 1000 yard receivers, Landry and OBJ, was Kitchens year as HC. Baker played lousy and Kitchens was fired.
That was a wild year. Monken knew he was getting fired and didn’t bother going to the locker room at halftime in the final game vs Cincy. Went and grabbed some hot dogs with the press box folks.
Lots of 4am strip club stories/rumors on the night before the Browns vs AZ game during the Kitchens year.
The offense that was made for DW to excel was not enough.
He was so bad that now everyone inside of the building has to have doubts. Take away all efforts by every player on offense a look solely at the play of DW.
Outside of a couple of throws that were obvious and relatively easy. His awareness to see the open man and deliver a ball accurately and on time was non existent.
He didn't see targets that were open. He was late on throws. He was inaccurate in ways that looked unexplainable.
This game did not leave the impression that a few things needed to be cleaned up.
Deshaun Watson did not look like an NFL quarterback that should be starting for any team.
I saw no redeeming qualities in his performance at all. He played like a guy with no map on how to play.
thats what I said too . there literally isn't ONE thing I like about Watson or his game or his demeanor. He is trash

I know that when me and my son were looking at preseason games before he started up this year at college, we picked the game with Minny, because as I put it to him...There isn't no way that after coming back from being off, that Stefanski would go through the whole preseason and give his first unit some work together to work on fundamentals, timing etc. And Watson has to get in some work.
Well Kev sat most of the starters and again we start the year looking like crap.
And I remembered that during the Minny week Zac Jackson come out with something that really bothered me about Watson. And it looks like it aged well.
Horrible in almost every aspect of the game... OL looked awful... no running game... Watson looked lost... Defense looked average until they burnt out in the second half... hope we improve next week but man that was awful to watch...
