Most things don't happen instantaneously or in a vacuum. The pandemic disrupted a lot.

People seem to give too much credit and blame to Administrations for things that are largely out of their control. That's not to say that policies don't matter. Yet, "bad" policies can have "good" results under "fortuitous" external conditions, and on the other hand "good" policies can have "bad" results under changes in global markets due war, famine, disease, etc.

Cause and effect can be difficult to ascertain. Correlation and causation aren't the same.

Do you remember covid? Do you think that a global pandemic might have had an effect on the world economy and our economy? ( Clue.. it did big time )
Biden actually did an amazing job on guiding us out of that complete mess. We have recovered better than any country. Yes things need to get better with the economy. It was not a mess created by Biden. He got us where we are, which is the economy that has recovered the best in the world. More work needs to be done. You cant come back completely from a global catastrophe in two years. I am pretty sure trump could not have accomplished what Biden did. Trump tanked the best border / immigration deal in history so blame that on him. Gas prices are coming down. The Israel attack would have happened no matter who was in office. Send that insane fear and hate mongering fool to prison for the crimes he committed.

IMO, Biden deserves about half of the flak he's getting for inflation, for the reasons you laid out. Him and democrats kept giving away money longer than they should have, I think which probably fed the inflation machine a bit. My best guess is they thought jobs and the economy in general would come roaring back faster and harder coming out of the worst of the pandemic.

So yeah, absolutely criticize him for inflation... but if your entire position is his role in the current state of the economy and illegal immigration (a problem that has persisted decades) then I think that says a lot more about you than about Biden/Kamala.

Gas is 2.69 for regular about 5-10 miles from my house this morning. Multiple gas stations in the low 2.70's right now. You said that it was 2.26 in 2020 under trumo. In April, 2020, the price of West Texas Intermediate crude oil slumped into negative for the first time in history, falling to negative 37.63 U.S. dollars per barrel. The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has had a catastrophic impact on the global oil and gas industry. Declining consumer demand and high levels of production output are threatening to exceed oil storage capacities, which resulted in the lowest ever oil prices noted between April 20th and April 22nd. Alot of pricing is supply/demand and not because of trump or Biden.

And about bread and eggs. Where I go, I can still get cheap bread for a buck and eggs have fallen in price quite a bit. I also understand about the price gouging especially at some grocery stores and with rent. I own my home on a fixed mortgage and shop multiple stores every couple weeks for sales and go to quite a few farm markets and pick your own farms so i get most of my veggies, apples and berries fresh and cheaper than store bought.

I also remember in 2020 having an insane time finding bottled water, bathroom tissue, paper towels and pretty much alot of other things...

I suggest you look at the inflation rate in Europe for the time period before 2022 and 2022. It makes it quite clear that inflation was a global issue and not a Biden issue.....

Thanks for the update. Where we're at is the most concerning issue on every American's plate -- at least those that can afford dinner. This administration acted like there was nothing wrong for over three years, yet now the Coronated One says it will all be fixed at the wave of her pimp hand.

There is zero evidence she knew any of the questions before hand. trump had just as much time to prepare but the results show he was too foolish to take advantage of that opportunity.

No, Kamala Harris Wasn’t Wearing ‘Audio Earrings’ at the Debate

Did Kamala Harris wear “audio earrings” in her debate with Donald Trump? Hundreds of viral posts online, some with millions of views, claim that the Democratic nominee used wireless earphones to receive answers to questions during the live broadcast.

The claims are false: Harris was wearing a pair of Tiffany & Co. pearl earrings.

The posts accuse Harris of wearing Icebach Sound Solutions Nova H1 audio earrings. According to the earrings’ product page, the devices “look like luxury earrings but can be connected via Bluetooth to your smartphone to make phone calls and listen to music.”

Images from the debate show that Harris was actually wearing a golden pair of Tiffany HardWear’s Double Pearl Hinged Earrings. Harris has worn the pair regularly in recent years, such as during her appearance at the White House’s 2023 Juneteenth concert.

A media representative for Tiffany & Co. confirmed to the Daily Beast on Wednesday that the earrings worn by Harris were a Tiffany model. The Dispatch Fact Check has contacted Tiffany & Co., and we will update our piece if we hear back.

Journalist Susan E. Kelley, who covers Harris’ fashion and style choices on her blog What Kamala Wore, addressed the earring theories in her write-up of Harris’ debate-night outfit. “There was a bizarre narrative being pushed last night claiming the Vice President wore earrings with an audio receiver,” Kelley wrote. “I am comfortable stating that was clearly not the case; these are the same Tiffany earrings she has worn for months.”

Icebach Sound Solutions, for its part, is having fun with the rumors, advertising a satirical “Special Edition” of the earrings “for Presidential Debates” on its home page. The business also states that it will only grant an interview on the controversy to late-night host Jimmy Fallon: “Please refrain from any interview requests if you are not Jimmy Fallon. Thank you!”

Icebach Sounds did not return an interview request from The Dispatch Fact Check.

Just like yourself it seems they'll resort to any excuse as to why Kamala slapped trump around so hard in this debate that he called her Stormy.

The Republicans have only won the popular vote once since 1988 (2004 in Bush vs Kerry). I'm not saying that to bash them, but I'll repeat something I've been saying a lot. They need a Renaissance. It starts with cleaning out the closet of crazies.

Carville of all people actually brought up an interesting point. He mentioned how Republicans got blown out in '64, but won the presidency in '68. Democrats got blown out in '72 but won the presidency in '76. I don't think this will be an election where Trump gets blown out, but he and the MAGA sub-sect need to be PROVERBIALLY sent to the glue farm so the party can rebuild. I want to see a healthy Republican party again.

Some might invite correlation to causation to be asserted in that case. What do you think it was that Trump did to keep gas and food cheap, and the economy "humming"? I seem to remember him telling the Saudis to actually cut the oil supply.

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — The woman behind an early Facebook post spreading a harmful and baseless claim about Haitian immigrants eating local pets that helped thrust a small Ohio city into the national spotlight says she had no firsthand knowledge of any such incident and is now filled with regret and fear as a result of the ensuing fallout.

“It just exploded into something I didn’t mean to happen,” Erika Lee, a Springfield resident, told NBC News on Friday.

Lee recently posted on Facebook about a neighbor’s cat that went missing, adding that the neighbor told Lee she thought the cat was the victim of an attack by her Haitian neighbors.

Newsguard, a media watchdog that monitors for misinformation online, found that Lee had been among the first people to publish a post to social media about the rumor, screenshots of which circulated online. The neighbor, Kimberly Newton, said she heard about the attack from a third party, NewsGuard reported.

Newton told Newsguard that Lee’s Facebook post misstated her story, and that the owner of the missing cat was “an acquaintance of a friend” rather than her daughter’s friend. Newton could not be reached for comment.

Lee said she had no idea the post would become part of a rumor mill that would spiral into the national consciousness. She has since deleted the Facebook post.

Other posts have also contributed to the false allegations, including a photo of a man holding a dead goose that was taken in Columbus, Ohio, but was spread by some online as evidence of the claims about Springfield. Graphic video of a woman who allegedly killed and tried to eat a cat was also found not to have originated in Springfield but in Canton, Ohio, and does not have any connection to the Haitian community.

Local police and city officials have repeatedly said there is no evidence of such crimes in Springfield, but that hasn’t stopped the lies from spreading across the country and igniting a national frenzy that landed on the presidential debate stage this week. Former President Donald Trump and his running mate Ohio Sen. JD Vance, who was born less than an hour away from Springfield, have repeated the baseless allegations.

Lee said she never imagined her post would become fodder for conspiracy theories and hate.

“I’m not a racist,” she said through heavy emotion, adding that her daughter is half Black and she herself is mixed race and a member of the LGBTQ community. “Everybody seems to be turning it into that, and that was not my intent.”


The anti-immigrant fervor in Springfield led to school and municipal building closures on Thursday and Friday after city officials received bomb threats.

Lee said she pulled her daughter out of school and is now worried about her safety with so much attention on her family. She is also concerned for the safety of the Haitian community, which she said she did not intend to villainize en masse.

“I feel for the Haitian community,” she said. “If I was in the Haitians’ position, I’d be terrified, too, worried that somebody’s going to come after me because they think I’m hurting something that they love and that, again, that’s not what I was trying to do.”

Immigrant advocacy groups have said these kinds of claims can be dangerous.

“The Haitian-American community in Springfield, OH and around the country is feeling targeted and unsafe because dehumanizing, debunked and racist conspiracies are being advanced at the highest levels of American politics and are still being repeated,” Vanessa Cárdenas, executive director of America's Voice, a nonprofit that advocates for immigration refor said in an email. “The false claim that Black immigrants are violently attacking American families by stealing and eating their pets is a powerful and old racist trope that puts a target on people’s backs, and it is turbo-charged in the era of MAGA when political violence has become commonplace and we have already witnessed violent incidents incited by such rhetoric.”

Lee said that there are very real problems related to Springfield's population boom that caught the struggling city off guard. Springfield was not prepared to address the housing, health care and other service needs that came with the sudden increase of new residents over the last five years when Haitians arrived, many of them with protected status under federal law.

Still, she never imagined that her Facebook post would set off a national news cycle.

“I didn’t think it would ever get past Springfield," she said.

In fact, tariffs get passed directly from producers to consumers in the form of higher prices on those imported goods.”

“Tariffs on imported goods provide cover for domestic producers of competing goods and close substitutes to raise their prices,” he said. “In addition to that, retaliation is baked in. No nation ever imposes tariffs on the goods and services of a foreign country without having tariffs placed on theirs in return. Trade wars are never one-sided.”

There were several things that Trump said that I thought a reasonable person would laugh at. The whole Springfield thing was stupid. I mean, if that were even remotely true, it would have been everywhere. But still, some friends of mine insisted it was real. They are idiots. I love them still, but they are idiots.

Now, we can clearly see (as if we hadn't already) the dangers of Trump rants. Bomb threats at public schools because some jackass thought that was what was needed.. FOR WHAT? Over a lie. I know that he didn't start it, but damn it, everywhere he goes now, he keeps telling the same damn lie. He already got people killed on Jan 6. Who will die next because of his LIES>

Holy COW.. In 2016 he said he had a better plan then Obamacare.... HE DID NOT! In fact he didn't even have any plan. Then in 2020 he said he had a plan, we never found out if he did or didn't.. Anyone that still supports him after this debate needs to have their heads examined.

I do believe that Kamala's overall message is one of building unity. She is far from Perfect, but I don't believe she's heading down the path most Americans will end up wanting! By the way, focus groups all over the place were mostly positive about Harris.. I think he may have cracked the code on Trump.

Trump repeats baseless claim that Harris wore earpiece at their debate

Former President Donald Trump on Friday promoted a baseless claim circulating on right-wing social media that Kamala Harris wore an earpiece at Tuesday’s ABC presidential debate and again baselessly suggested that the vice president received the debate questions in advance.

“Today, she had a terrible interview. Did you see the interview she had today? She can’t talk. She can’t talk. She can’t talk without maybe getting the answers. What’s the story with that? Did she get the questions, you think? So I hear she got the questions, and I also heard she had something in the ear, a little something in the ear: ‘No, Kamala, do this. Say it this way, Kamala. OK, be quiet, too many people watching,’” Trump claimed during a campaign rally in Las Vegas.

The conspiracy theory about the earpiece has been promoted by far-right agitator Laura Loomer, who has traveled with Trump in recent days.

“Interesting choice of earrings tonight, @KamalaHarris…” Loomer posted Wednesday on social media, including a screenshot of an article about “audio earrings.”

As CNN previously reported, several people close to Trump say Loomer has contributed to some of the unseemly conspiracy theories the former president has elevated since Harris replaced Biden on the ticket.

Trump has repeatedly claimed that the ABC debate was “rigged,” and he has previously baselessly suggested that Harris was provided the questions in advance. The former president said this week that he won’t participate in another debate, while Harris has called for another face-off.

Trump suggested Friday, though, that he may change his mind about another debate.

And a baby is a baby until about 4 years old. We shouldn’t pass judgement on its development prior to that.

Look up "viable" and try to comprehend the difference between that and baby. It has been shown time and time again that Haitians are not eating pets in Springfield. Try to keep up. Even the woman who posted the original FB post said she has no idea if it's true. Dear Lord. The extent you will go to in order to defend this lie is astounding.

Unfortunately, Trump supporters will also do whatever they have to to eat. They don't want abortions so they have another meat source when SHTF.

When faced with starvation, most people will eat just about anything. But let's spread a junk narrative for the purpose of supporting an actual sociopath.
