they really are having a normal conversation with each other. i gotta give them that, and credit to vance for not letting the crazy talk come out. way more disciplined than trump.

It’s almost a glimpse into how debates should actually be. What we’ve gotten used to has been utter nonsense.

vance trying to give trump the credit of the ACA still going strong is hilarious, seeing as they tried to get rid of it in so many ways.

Watched for about 10 minutes and just couldn't take listening anymore.
But I am enjoying this play by play. Please keep it up.

Also, one thing I thought I heard earlier that is now trending on social media…did Walz say he was friends with a school shooter?

https://www.yahoo.com/news/live/liv...-vice-presidential-debate-123441406.html

This is actually a good website for fact checking and cliff notes on the debate for anyone who’s interested.

I actually thought it was a good, substantive debate for the most part. Lacked the Jerry Springer factor so I think a lot of people tuned out.

I do commend Vance for juggling the liability that Trump can be and somehow still engaging in what turned out to be a thoughtful discussion for the most part.

Walz had some great talking points but I think he also had worse flubs than Vance, especially with the China stuff, and I think his polish was lacking. He admitted to being nervous about the debate and it showed. I do think he was ahead of Vance in actually answering the questions that were asked, though too.

I know he misspoke but so did Romney with his binders full of women comment. He also called himself a knucklehead. These two things will get replayed in ads over and over.

This was about what we should have expected from a Veep candidate debate, despite all the pre-game hype.

Neither guy made any big blunders; neither guy did anything to tip the scales one way or another.

Polls will remain unchanged after this.

"Flawlessly" is a bit of a high standard to meet...

I would agree that he did well. I think he was the more consistent of the two.

I also agree with the guy on the left that Walz was better at answering the questions, but I also think he had more flubs. Using the phrase "knucklehead" was obviously not great and the China stuff was a BAD look, as I've said before.

But "flawlessly" isn't the case. Off memory, I think one of Vance's bad moments was when he admonished the panel for fact-checking him, saying along the lines of "I thought we agreed we weren't going to fact-check." He also side-stepped some substance and direct answers.

That being said, I don't think there's any argument that Vance made a better case for Trump than Trump. I hadn't thought about this before, but these people did bring up the good point that perhaps Trump may not like that, although I think that's a bit of a reach.

Walz definitely set the trap by asking the question on that one. Vance absolutely knows that Trump lost, but there's no way he can say it without there being fallout from his boss. And that's a very sad thing.

I'm not watching it. But, you, a Kamala supporter, dissing someone on 'word salad'? Please. Your queen is the epitome of word salad.

While we’re on it, you associated me as a Kamala supporter and that I consider her my queen. Please show me one post of mine where that can be inferred? Not liking Trump does not make me a supporter of someone else, let alone holding her up as a queen.

Good grief…

I'm surprised you expected more.

Sadly I think far more Americans than we would like give polish and presentation the most importance in debates like this. Fact checking and substance are not their first priority. For people with this train of thought I think Vance won hands down. Walz had some moments for sure but he appeared so nervous and had that fish out of water look. I've seen some of the liberals in the media try to put lipstick on a pig in regards to this but overall Walz didn't look good.

I’d like him to explain to us how mamaw cured his gayness…

I’d like to hear him explain his hate for brown immigrants, since he’s married to one and all.

I don’t want to hear his name affiliated with ANY higher office. He damn sure shouldn’t be a senator.

Trump is the worst choice. Harris is the better of the two by far. Vance is a wormy lying sack of crap. Walz is a vet, not a Yale grad pretending to be a poor hillbilly. He doesn’t talk as smooth, but he means what he says and lived a life to prove it. This race was over the moment Kamala was handed the top of the ticket. Walz was a damn good choice for her VP. Those other two men are just weird.

Harris will win by 7-10 points unless something drastic happens. MAGAs days are numbered.

There are no current statistics or indicators any of that is true. Thoughts and feelings are all you can be using to base that on.

Damn, I must have watched a different debate. From healthcare to democracy, I felt Walz handed a lying dodging Vance his ass on a military grade platter. I didn’t hear any appologies about their scumbag Springfield lies either, and I think that will end up costing Trump Ohio. I hope MAGA gets wiped out in November.

I don't think you watched a different debate. I think you're giving the average American voter too much credit however. I think many will base their decision on who looked the most polished and calm under pressure. In today's society too much is based on appearance over substance.

JD Vance is still the worst VP pick in history. Both sides have pretty much agreed on that SINCE THE DAY TRUMP PICKED HIM. 7-10 points.

I don't disagree with that. But the choice trump made of J.D Vance wasn't the topic of discussion. I hope your thoughts and feelings come true. But as I stated, there is nothing to indicate you are correct.

I think Vance appeared polished and made less blunders despite (IMO) playing from a disadvantage in terms of policy and platform. From a debate performance perspective, I would hand him the win based on that. So credit where it's due, his debate skills were on point.

To your point, he didn't say anything that changed my opinion of him. The nonsense him and Trump have put out there already have probably disqualified him from getting my vote.

There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

I hope you realize that by spending all day every day in here arguing with MAGA GOPers, you’ve effectively created a micro echo chamber on DT, and it’s nothing like the reality on the streets. I know in Springfield, even people who voted for Trump are pissed at them for what they’ve done here. I know Trump is losing, without doubt. There are no feelz involved in that. All the polls are trending that way, and these are the polls that were showing Trump dominating Biden. Trumpians also are no being vocal locally, in 2016 and 2020 you couldn’t escape them. Pickups with flags, Trump train convoys, etc. None of that is going on now. Just yard signs, that is all the local support I’m seeing for Trump in a state he should take with ease. I bet he loses in Ohio in 24.

The population of Springfield is 58k people. Trump won Ohio in 2020 by just over 8%. That equals just under 500k votes.

As of today trump leads in Ohio by 8.8%.

I'm not happy about that but I'm willing to listen to reality.

If you ignore all of those numbers there's nothing but feels left.

BTW- How much was it you want to bet?

You're bitter because Walz looked like a deer in headlights and was outmatched. Vance was confident, sharp, and polished. He was also respectful of his debate opponent. He addressed every question well.

Your tiny pea brain just can't handle it. Vance for POTUS 2028!

Just so we're clear. You are willing to bet $100 that Kamala Harris will win Ohio in the 2024 presidential election. Is that correct?

PLEASE GOPERS, run JD in 28 against harris for her second term. Lmao, thanks for handing us decades of leadership with your Trumpian blunders. The republicans have proven they can’t govern and care nothing about everyday people. Have proven they will inject hate into your religion, lie relentlessly to their followers, look the other way for despots out of cowardice, look out only for the mega rich and corps, want to nuke hurricanes, and are clueless in diplomacy and leading the free world.

Thankfully GEN Z reflects progressive values more than archaic GOPer lies. Hopefully they will rid America of the me, me ,me pestilence that has plagued this country since Reagan. We need to get back to educating people to be their best versions. We need to rebuild the American middle class, and re-establish it as the world’s economic standard bearer. We need to drive the hate, racism, and right’s threatening rhetoric back into the subhuman beta ooze they spawned from.

It was a bad look, like I mentioned when he asked about whether Trump lost 2020. He knew Vance couldn't speak the truth of his feelings on it. Tactically, it was an excellent move.

That being said, the way Ohio has trended, I really don't foresee Harris taking the state. I don't think we and Florida are the swing states we used to be.

I haven't checked for a while...... But think the election comes down to 5 or 6 states and OH n FL aren't in that mix. Both red. I think it comes down to PA, AZ , nevada and maybe GA. With the [censored] in GA that Trump caused i am surprised Republicans are ahead in that state but they are... By 1 point i in think.

I didn’t think we were a swing state either until legal weed and abortion hit the ballot. Abortion is still on the ballot. Weed probably is too. This is why I think there is a chance. I also don’t think Vance will serve beyond his term. He’ll get the boot. He continuously spews ads that write themselves.
