November 5th at 4:00 PM is the trade deadline.
The Browns should and will be active.
If I were Andrew Berry I would at least listen to any offers for any player. That does not mean I would trade any player but I would listen.
Nobody would be untouchable.
I would try to move DW any way possible which would include giving up players, picks, and paying some of his deal.
That scenario is not probable. I don't know if any team would have any interest.
Any younger player who I felt good about. Most likely I would keep.
I would look to move veterans with age and big salaries.
It always takes two to tango. So, wanting to trade and finding a trade partner is not always easy. In addition you are trying to improve.
A full fire sale equals a full rebuild. I doubt that will happen.
If there are any doubts about Andrew Berry. Haslam needs to make that move because what is going to take place will shape the roster and how the team will perform for the next three years. In addition once again picking a quarterback in the draft is a four/five year deal.
The draft is always important. But when in the quarterback market with a first round pick. IMO you need to have great trust in someone to make that decision. But I also believe in getting the take of people outside the organization.
Jimmy is tight with Peyton Manning because of the Tennessee connection. I would ask for his opinion. The Manning quarterback camp has value because they get the top prospects. Obviously Peyton knows what to look for. That does not mean you have to take his advice. However, it sure would not hurt to get his take.

I think the jury is still out on whether the trade of Cooper was a trend or an anomaly. I'm certainly not disagreeing with your opinion but I think one has to consider that wealthy men who control a lot of power are far less likely to own up to their mistakes and move forward. They can afford not to. Often times they will stick by those decisions until everything has crumbled around them. That's not to say that Haslam is one of those people but we are at the crossroads where we will soon find out.
Usually it's their subordinates who pay the price for their mistakes. Most often we see those working under them take the brunt of the blame for the decisions they themselves have made.
Time will tell.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Haslam has just committed to a dome.
That is a huge long term investment. He knows the DW trade was not popular when it happened. Now it has gone beyond being unpopular to being a total disaster.
He needs to create good will and show leadership.
You can bet that his mind is churning about DW.
This game Sunday. The fans will be very vocal. Another game of offensive futility will not play well.
At this moment the Browns are a team in a place no team wants to be in.

I'm more of a results oriented guy. He made that decision in the midst of DW flopping around like a fish on the shoreline. As I stated, I'm not disagreeing with your opinion. I hope by me saying that twice now you understand that.
I'm saying we will see. At this point there is zero evidence for me to place a guess on any of this. This could all be as simple as drafting a QB in round 1 of the 2025 draft. I mean we all saw what Stefanksi did with Flacco. I'm just not so sure that heads need to roll in order to appease the fan base. Simply drafting a new QB and moving forward from DW in and of itself may be all the fans in general will need to stay on board.
I'm just not certain that wholesale changes in personnel and firing Berry are something he will feel compelled he "has to do" in order to sell tickets.
As I said, we shall see. I'm not trying to argue with you just showing there are other possibilities.

I think we need to think long and hard about trading Ward, Z, Thornhill, Hicks, Moore, Newsome/Emerson
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

I agree.
I don't even have a clue as to what Haslam is contemplating.
He may be happy with both AB and KS. Maybe he accepts what has happened?
As you said maybe we just draft a quarterback. But DW has to be addressed with his staff.
If Berry is left in place. He will try to keep the team in contention because bad results will at some point lead to someone being accountable.
Myself. I just want a quarterback to cheer for. Someone who I believe can lead the Browns to a Super Bowl win.
That is the goal.

I thought Zinter would be a bit better than he is. He seems very unathletic

I thought Zinter would be a bit better than he is. He seems very unathletic I think he's more athletic than he's shown thus far. He's only about a year removed from a pretty nasty broken leg...he's played a lot more than I would guess they expected...see Teller and Dunn injuries. I'm more concerned that he's a RG and Teller is the only IOL I see coming back next year...and of course, he is a RG too.

Well...we had one and 'they' didn't see it. No way I let AB take another swing at choosing a QB...no way.

He has not drafted a quarterback besides DTR.
I do not fault a soul for the Watson trade. It was a gamble that failed.
DW was very good in Houston. I have no idea how DW comes across one on one in an interview?
I would have a different approach when drafting a college quarterback. I would interview a lot of people who know football and quarterbacks and who have seen a lot of the prospects. That may include college announcers.
When the private workout is scheduled. I would have many trusted eyes on the player. I may look to consult with football people outside the organization. Maybe retired GM's who are respected for QB knowledge.
I would not trust any single person.

I guess you could look at it from a single lens like that.
However, in reality it was more complex.

With the upcoming trade deadline I considered who on this team I would not trade.
On defense I came up with myles garrett and JOK With delpet in the rather not category
On offense, Chubb With Jeudy and Njoku on the won't be traded And Dewand Jones in the rather not
My tops to trade would be Conklin and Wills on offense ; Ward and Z'darious Smith on defense. Conklin - old, injured and big contract but talented Wills - won't be worth the next contract but young and teams will see potential Ward - big talent, big contract, injury prone Smith - older, talented, not as productive as his contract warrants.
These are the 4 I think we can get the biggest return for when considering contracts and trade compensation
Am I perfect? No Am I trying to be a better person? Also no

I thought Zinter would be a bit better than he is. He seems very unathletic I think for anyone objectively looking at this roster it's obvious that several players don't look like they did just last season. It appears to be contagious and one would have to think there's a reason for that.

I agree on Myles, Jeudy, Njoku, and JOK.
Jones I would keep because I think he has potential.
Ward could actually bring a significant return.
Conklin maybe you get a 5th. Maybe.
Wills because he is still young might bring a third.
The Browns are in deep hole. It will be difficult to get on a real path to success.

Zinter is 5 games into his career. Let's give him a chance... As far as some players not looking as good as last year; could it have anything to do with our QB?

Now in hindsight things always look clearer. Yes they do. But like the vast majority of the many blunders the team has committed, common sense and the obvious proved to be correct vs the path that the FO took. Like most, I assumed the FO knew what they were doing and that there were other factors in play, like they saw some intelligence, leadership ability, charisma or something else that outweighed the negatives. Fast forward.....they didn't. It's frickin' Johnny Manziel all over again, but at a much greater cost. t

I would not trust any single person. When you ask a lot of Texans supporters they will tell you that a sizable chunk of his TDs in the 2020 season come when the team was down 10-14 points late in the 3rd or 4thQ. They mean the stats were inflated because the game was practically over at that time. In the 2020 they only won 4 games and many Texans supports has pointed out that he wasn’t the same in 2020 as he where in his previous years. Houston Texans 2018 - 11W 5L 2019 - 10W 6L 2020 - 4W 12L 2020 season KCC - 13 points 4Q (20-34) L Ravens - 6p 4Q (16-33) L Steelers - 0p 4Q (21-28) L Vikings - 7p (23-31) L Jaguars - 14p (30-14) W Titans - 13p (36-42) L Green Bay - 13p (20-35) L Jaguars -0p (27-25) W Browns - 7p (7-10) L Patriots - 3p (27-20) W Lions - 15p (41-25) W Colts 0p (20-26) L Bears 0p (7-36) L Colts 7p (20-27) L Bengals 7p (31-37) L Titans 10p (38-41) L 2020 Total TD - 33 2020 Total TD when the win - 15 2020 TD 4Q - 12 (when they lost) He average 1,5 TD/game when they lost (18 TD in 12 games) 12 of these TDs was in the 4Q. 6TD in 12 games was when the game was on the line. 0,5 TD/game Due diligence?

Teams were lined up to trade for DW.
He was regarded as a top five quarterback by everyone in football.
It doesn't matter any longer.
He failed here. Now he is done for the year. Six games per season for three years.
And he has been awful.

I agree it doesn’t matter any longer but right now I have very little confidence in the Browns FO when it comes to scouting draft picks. The more we look at it the more it’s clear that Berry isn’t a special good GM. After four seasons results don’t lie. We don’t develop enough talent into elite or even to reasonable NFL level.

Now in hindsight things always look clearer. Bone, Baker was the QB we should have invested all that draft capital and money into… sure he looked bad playing injured, but anyone with eyes could see OBJ’s daddy was stirring crap to get OBJ traded. OBJ was never a vital piece of this team, but delusional fans thought he was being held back by Baker, or at least one fan felt that way and he owns the team. What kills me is, if you unplug from the homer-ism, team drama, and fan favorites when you watch games, you can see who is really who. But the coaches and FO seem to be too close to the situation to do that this year. This is hugely no bueno.

the path that the FO took. I remember at the time of the trade, Eotab was very much against it. Sad to say, but it turned out as he expected... My recollection is that 99% of the back-and-forth was regarding the off-field stuff. I don't recall (doesn't mean it didn't happen) anyone saying that he would be bad (much less this bad) on the field. My recollection was that he had all the tools to be successful in just about any offense. The first rumblings started only when we started shifting away from having him under center and how that would impact Chubb's running effectiveness. I'm not trying to defend the trade, just saying... after watching the Guardians pull out all the stops and fall short to the Yankees I appreciate Haslam's willingness to put his dollars behind building the team. So credit where it's due, I guess.
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

Teams were lined up to trade for DW. It's odd how on one hand how people will point out most teams get it wrong in terms of QB's and then point out how a hand full of desperate teams went after DW. Teams that couldn't identify a QB in the draft to save their life or they wouldn't have been in that position to start with. And on top of that the evidence shows that the Browns were the most desperate team of all. Every team trying to acquire DW weren't willing to pay the crazy price tag the Browns were and all of this after DW made it clear he didn't want to play for the Browns to begin with. Yes, there were a lot of factors to consider. The order of their importance wasn't identified properly.

.... Haslam's willingness to put his dollars behind building the team. So credit where it's due, I guess. Whomever was primarily responsible for the trade (and I don't believe it was one person), took a huge risk and it failed miserably. This trade set us back several years and perhaps has taken us out of our Super Bowl window. I do believe that we could have succeeded with Mayfield or Brissette and a couple of 1st rounders. There needs to be accountability and someone should publicly announce it....

unless it is a Day 2 pick, we'd be foolish to trade Z to our division rivals, but then again he is practically no impact playing for us, so he'd become an all-pro for the ratbirds
