I wonder why trump backed out of the second debate that he previously agreed to and the 60 minutes interview both presidential candidates do every election year?

Fox News edited Trump’s rambling answers and false claims in barbershop interview, full video shows

By Brian Stelter and Liam Reilly, CNN

New York
CNN

The Fox News Channel’s recent segment about Donald Trump’s “surprise” visit to a barbershop in the Bronx resembled a campaign ad for the former president’s reelection.

Trump was seen taking questions and making small talk with Black and Hispanic barbershop customers and workers, some of whom were wearing “Make Barbers Great Again” shirts. The visit was part of “Fox & Friends” co-host Lawrence Jones’ ongoing barbershop interview series.

But the version of the visit shown on television was, to borrow a hairstyle metaphor, a crop cut. Fox edited out many of Trump’s rambling comments and false claims. Participants had to repeatedly follow up when Trump meandered away from the original point of their questions.

CNN reviewed a more complete video of the barbershop visit that was uploaded to Instagram on the day of Trump’s appearance in the Bronx and compared it to the segments that were shown on “Fox & Friends” on Monday.

Vice President Kamala Harris appears in an interview on "60 Minutes" that aired on Monday, October 7.

Fox’s edits omitted numerous Trump tangents and exaggerations – a striking decision given Trump’s recent attacks on CBS newsmagazine “60 Minutes” for editing an interview with his opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, earlier this month.

Trump’s complaints about “60 Minutes” center on an edit of Harris’ comment about the relationship between Israel and the United States. He has charged that CBS manipulated the Harris interview to “make her look better” and demanded that CBS release the unedited transcript of the interview, which CBS has declined to do.

Ironically, however, Fox edited several of Trump’s recent appearances on the network, including his visit to the barbershop. And some of the edits certainly make him look better.

The televised broadcast omitted Trump’s comments about Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio. He told the barbershop customers that “they just dumped 50,000 people — 32,000 migrants from another country — in Springfield, Ohio. They don’t know what to do.” The actual number of migrants in Springfield is far lower, according to the city’s own data. The broadcast also left out Trump’s gross exaggerations about crime in Aurora, Colorado.

One of the most telling parts of the dialogue began when an audience member asked Trump about finding a way to eliminate federal taxes in the future. On Fox, Trump was shown immediately answering affirmatively: “There is a way.”

But that response from Trump actually came more than seven minutes later, after Trump (and Jones) brought up other topics, including inheritances, the Keystone Pipeline, Ronald Reagan, Russia, and transgender sports players. Trump had to be nudged back on track several times by the unnamed audience member, who kept circling back, apologetically, and said “I wasn’t able to finish my question.” After he repeated his tax inquiry yet again, Trump said “there is a way.”

Republican presidential nominee, former U.S. President Donald Trump, speaks during a town hall campaign event at the Lancaster County Convention Center on October 20, 2024 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Trump is campaigning the entire day in the state of Pennsylvania. Trump and Democratic presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris continue to campaign in battleground swing states ahead of the November 5 election.

But on Fox, it was stitched together as one seamless back-and-forth.

Fox also cut some of the former president’s insults, as when he mocked the Wall Street Journal, a sister property of Fox. “Don’t listen” to the “Wall Street jerks or Wall Street Journal, cause they don’t get it,” Trump told the barbershop audience.

In another unplayed portion of the visit, Trump praised Hungarian strongman Viktor Orban and called him a “very respected guy.” That exchange underscored Trump’s tendency to favor autocratic leaders, but Fox decided not to share it with viewers.

A Fox News spokeswoman said every one of Jones’ barbershop segments are pretaped and edited. The Bronx edition ran for nearly an hour and was cut for time and clarity, the network said.

Trump’s recent appearance on the Fox News program “MediaBuzz” was also pretaped and edited. One obvious edit occurred when Trump began to repeat his false claims about the 2020 election – a sensitive subject for Fox since the network is still dealing with defamation lawsuits relating to its coverage in 2020.

“They came down to protest a rigged election,” Trump said, referring to January 6. Then there was a sudden cut, suggesting that some of Trump’s distortions were removed.

I missed your post - glad Pit or whoever it was quoted it again. It's encouraging.

I still believe it's a ridiculously close race and too close to call. The Young vote is interesting ... I'd imagine the overwhelming majority of young kids [1] would not vote Trump [2] Normally don't vote at all. So if they vote in higher numbers than traditionally that would be a big factor. As would be the number of women voters.

We'll soon know.

Even FOX News is too embarrassed to show trump being trump. Hiding who he really is they find to be much more palatable even to their extremist viewers.

‘He’s Just Totally Unhinged’: Trump Scorched By 18-Term GOP Congressman from Michigan — Who Announces He’s Endorsing Harris

Former Rep. Fred Upton (R-MI), who served 18 terms in Congress before retiring last year, is endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris — issuing a scathing condemnation of his own party’s nominee, former President Donald Trump.

Upton told The Detroit News that he was voting for Harris — his first time supporting a Democrat for president, although he has split his ticket on other down-ballot races in the past — because Trump had “not changed his colors” and continued pushing his baseless claims about fraud in the 2020 election.

“Watching Trump day after day, he’s ignored the advice of many senior, respected Republicans to stay on the issues,” said Upton.

“Instead, he’s still talking about the election being stolen, trashing women left and right. He’s just totally unhinged,” he added. “We don’t need this chaos. We need to move forward, and that’s why I’m where I am.”

Upton told The Detroit News that he had spoken with Harris’s running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, on Wednesday. The two served together in the House for twelve years.

“They want to get things done, and the only way to get that to happen is to work on a bipartisan basis. I’m convinced that Harris has more ability to do that than Trump,” said Upton about a Harris-Walz administration, praising their support for the bipartisan immigration bill that Trump derailed and commitment to work across the aisle on Ukraine, inflation, and other issues.

“I’m convinced that those of us who are willing to stand up now will be at the table as we try to chart a path to resolve these issues. They are too important to ignore,” he said. “At some point, the country has to come ahead of party, and that’s what this is all about.”

Upton was one of the Republicans who voted to impeach Trump, drawing his ire — and then gloating after Upton announced his retirement. He has also been an outspoken critic of Republicans who have refused to accept the 2020 election results or tried to downplay the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol riot.

Now that trump is a convicted felon he wants to bring more of them back into the White House.....

Trump tells former adviser Michael Flynn: ‘We’re going to bring you back’

NEW YORK (AP) — Former President Donald Trump called into an event hosted by his former national security adviser Michael Flynn over the weekend, telling his ex-adviser, “We’re going to bring you back.”

After scrubbing a rally in Iowa on Saturday night because of bad weather, Trump spoke via telephone at an event for Flynn’s “ReAwaken America Tour” held at the former president’s Miami resort. The retired lieutenant general, a top figure in the far-right movement, has been one of the leading proponents of Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election.

During the call, which was captured on a video of the event posted online, Flynn is seen holding a cellphone up to a microphone as Trump, on the line, says to Flynn, “You just have to stay healthy because we’re bringing you back. We’re going to bring you back.”

It wasn’t clear from Trump’s remarks if he was specifically talking about bringing Flynn into his administration should he win the presidency in 2024 and, if so, for what role.

“We’re proud of you, general,” Trump said. “I knew it from day one — you’re really somebody very special.”

Trump’s campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung did not respond to questions about Trump’s remarks and instead sent a statement that said: “President Trump is running to drain the swamp and bring prosperity back to America. That’s why he’s dominating in the polls — both in the primary and general elections— and Americans are rallying around his campaign.”

Flynn, who resigned from the Trump administration less than a month after Trump’s inauguration in 2017, was charged later that year with lying to the FBI about conservations he had with the Russians on Trump’s behalf. He twice pleaded guilty, but Trump ultimately pardoned him in the final weeks of his presidency.

Since then, Flynn has been a leader in trumpeting Trump’s lies of a stolen 2020 election, despite the fact that numerous federal and local officials, a long list of courts, top former campaign staffers and even Trump’s own attorney general have all said there is no evidence of the fraud he alleges. Flynn suggested that Trump should seize voting machines and could order up the military in some states and rerun the election.

The former president has spoken warmly about Flynn over the years and has continued to align himself with Flynn at a time when some in the Republican Party see Trump’s alliance with controversial figures and focus on the past electionas political liabilities in the general election next year.

Flynn, as part of his efforts to try to overturn Trump’s loss in the 2020 presidential election, suggested Trump should seize voting machines and could order up the military in some states and rerun the election.

Flynn launched the ReAwaken America tour in 2021, a few months after the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol failed to overturn the results of the election. It has been continuing ever since, with stops every month or two in a different city. Many of Trump’s close allies and family members such as his son, Eric Trump, have appeared at the event. Trump himself has been known to call in.

A joint investigation by The Associated Press and the PBS series “Frontline” found that the ReAwaken tour serves as a traveling roadshow and recruiting tool for an ascendant Christian nationalist movement that’s wrapped itself in God, patriotism and politics and has grown in power and influence inside the Republican Party.. Flynn endorsed nearly 100 candidates ahead of the 2022 midterm elections, and continues to urge supporters to get involved in politics –- especially at the local level –- ahead of the 2024 elections.

Trump and Flynn have maintained their ties to each other, periodically snapping photographs together. One of Flynn’s groups held an event at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago in December, and the two men remain close, Flynn’s brother, Joseph Flynn, told the AP in March.

The trump crime syndicate is looking to regain power again. And just like in 2020, they will use any means they think is necessary.

Trump says he’d fire Jack Smith quickly if he wins another term in office

Donald Trump said Thursday that he would use presidential powers to end Jack Smith’s probe into multiple criminal cases he’s brought against the former president, promising to fire the special counsel who has indicted him on multiple criminal charges.

“Oh, it’s so easy. It’s so easy,” Trump said when asked by conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt whether he would “pardon yourself” or “fire Jack Smith.”

“I would fire him within two seconds,” Trump said.

Smith was appointed as special counsel by Attorney General Merrick Garland to oversee two investigations into Trump regarding his efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election and his alleged mishandling of classified documents. The classified documents case was ultimately dismissed by a federal judge, but Smith is appealing.

Trump still faces charges in Smith’s election subversion case. After the Supreme Court ruling on presidential immunity, Smith filed a superseding indictment in August that slimmed down the allegations but didn’t drop the four charges that were brought against Trump.

Trump faces charges of conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding and conspiracy against rights.

If the former president were to fire Smith, that would allow the Department of Justice and Trump’s attorney general to drop the charges against him and end the court cases.

Trump, who was convicted earlier this year of 34 felony counts in a separate New York case against him, has repeatedly claimed without evidence that the justice system is being weaponized against him because he’s running for president. But Trump has suggested on multiple occasions he would weaponize the justice system against his political rivals if reelected.

Trump’s comments to Hewitt aren’t the first time he’s suggested he would fire Smith. Trump, who frequently rails against Smith on the campaign trail, told Breitbart last July that he “wouldn’t keep” the special counsel if he were reelected.

“I wouldn’t keep him,” Trump said when asked if he would fire Smith. “Jack Smith? Why would I keep him?”

Trump has routinely on the campaign trail suggested he would weaponize the justice system to go after his political opponents if reelected. The former president has said several times he feels entitled to go after his political opponents because of his own criminal charges and has vowed to appoint a special prosecutor to “go after” President Joe Biden and his family if he wins back the White House.

Trump has also labeled his political opponents “the enemy from within” as he ramps up his rhetoric against his perceived enemies in the final stretch of the campaign. Trump has called Democratic Reps. Adam Schiff and Nancy Pelosi “the enemy from within” and has claimed they pose a greater threat than foreign adversaries.

Trump has gone so far as to suggest using the military to handle “the enemy from within” on Election Day, saying that he isn’t worried about chaos from his supporters or foreign actors, but instead from “radical-left lunatics.” Vice President Kamala Harris has highlighted Trump’s comments on the campaign trail as she argues he is “unstable,” “unhinged” and out for “unchecked power.”

That's the one thing you can be sure about when it comes to trump. What ever it is he is accusing others of doing is exactly what he will do or plans to do if given the chance to.

Flynn is another HUGE issue which lends more smoke to the whole Russia/Putin thing. It's also another area where I haven't seen any of his voters discuss it. I file it under the "crickets" folder.

I'll one up your crickets scenario with this gem. Anybody want to address this gem about Michael Flynn?

I was having issues pasting the text without it being a disaster. If someone more technically competent than me wants to do it, have at it.

WASHINGTON − Former President Donald Trump tells supporters he'll be their "retribution" if elected in November. He talks of turning the military and the National Guard on the "enemy within," or those who don't support him, including Democratic figures like former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Trump speaks only in generalities about his intentions. But for the past year, a former top Trump national security official likely to join him in a new administration has been crisscrossing America recruiting an army of volunteers to help carry out such a plan.

That's Michael Flynn, a retired Army lieutenant general and Trump's first White House national security advisor. He's also a former convicted felon who was banished from what he calls the "Deep State" national security bureaucracy after rising to become head of the Pentagon's Defense Intelligence Agency.

The Dobbs effect. I could see a scenario where a lot of younger women would be more interested in voting.

Republicans should have a higher percentage in 2024 versus 2020 as Trump was actively discouraging early voting.

Republicans have 1/2 million requests Dems have 340,000. 1 million are unaffiliated.

Also, this is crazy...

Your wish - my command - yada yada yada 😂

At Flynn's side is his longtime aide Ivan Raiklin, an intense former Green Beret, retired Army Reserve lieutenant colonel and former DIA employee who's also a conservative lawyer.
As Trump support merges with Christian nationalism, experts warn of extremist risks

Flynn and Raiklin are among the most vocal of a cadre of Trump allies calling for prosecution and even violence against the former president's political enemies.

Raiklin, who calls himself Trump's "Secretary of Retribution," has gone so far as to compile a "Deep State Target List" of more than 350 people he says he'll go after in a second Trump administration.

"It's just unthinkable that our country has come to this," retired Air Force Lt. Gen. James Clapper, who served as the U.S. director of National Intelligence and DIA chief, told USA TODAY.

Javed Ali, a senior National Security Council official in the Trump administration, called the men's agenda "very unsettling," especially coming from a former top-ranking military officer like Flynn.

Together, Flynn and Raiklin have been barnstorming for a far-right, antigovernment form of Christian nationalism, railing against what they see as a "woke" takeover of America by communist sympathizers aligned with China.

That group, they say, includes liberals, Democrats and other Trump opponents.

'The gates of hell'
In dozens of town hall-style appearances this year, including at Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate, Flynn and Raiklin have talked of the need for Americans do whatever it takes to get Trump re-elected − and then exact vengeance including detention, tribunals and possibly worse.

At the far-right Rod of Iron Freedom Festival on Oct. 11 in Greeley, Pennsylvania, one attendee asked Flynn whether, if Trump wins, he would get his "rank reinstated and sit at the head of a military tribunal to not only drain the swamp, but imprison the swamp and on a few occasions, execute the swamp?"

The question brought a chorus of cheers at the event, which was sponsored by a group, led by the son of the late Unification Church founder Rev. Sun Myung Moon, that the Southern Poverty Law Center calls an "antigovernment Christian gun cult."

"I think a lot of people actually think like you do, and I think that that's your right and our privilege," Flynn replied.

"These people are already up to no good," he said of Trump's opponents, "so we gotta win first. We win, and then ... Katie bar the door. Believe me, the gates of hell − my hell− will be unleashed."

Jeffrey Breinholt, a George Washington University law lecturer who worked on counterterrorism at the Justice Department for 25 years, said Flynn and Raiklin's statements and organizing could violate federal laws against illegal threats, even when considering the extremely high bar of First Amendment protections.

“I think if we had the political will, we would be able to find an appropriate federal statute to charge them with this,” Breinholt said of the DOJ, where he worked until his retirement earlier this year. “When I say the line was crossed, there is a line that goes from First Amendment protected activity into harassment.”

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, Vice President Kamala Harris' running mate, using an expletive, described Flynn's remarks as “crazy” at a campaign event last Thursday in North Carolina.

More: 1 in 4 Republicans supports political violence if election is 'compromised,' study says

Repeating Flynn's comments almost verbatim, Walz warned that Flynn "is a contender" to be national security advisor once again if Trump wins.

"This is the guy that Donald Trump wants to hand the keys to the federal government over to on security," Walz said.

Flynn did not respond to multiple requests for comment. The Trump campaign didn't respond to a request for comment.

Trump's self-proclaimed 'Secretary of Retribution'
Raiklin wears t-shirts that say "Secretary of Retribution" and "The Deep State Marauder" at his many public appearances.

A daily presence on far-right cable, radio and internet shows, Raiklin also touts − and offers to share − a target list he's compiled of politicians, intelligence and law enforcement officials, journalists and others.

Describing them as "the enemy of our constitutional order," he says they'll pay if Trump wins on Nov. 5.

"I'm coming for all of them. And what does that mean when I say coming for all of them?" Raiklin told a reporter last May in a video he uploaded to X.

"It means the most legal, moral and ethical consequences to the maximum, to include the maximum punishment for treason," he said. "I personally guarantee that they're going to face those consequences."

Treason is punishable by penalties including death, according to the Justice Department.

Raiklin called for "livestream swatting raids of every single individual" on the list, a reference to the practice of anonymously calling police to swarm a victim's residence for an emergency that doesn't exist.

He says he has 80,000 recruits waiting to be deputized by "appropriate sheriffs throughout the country" − so-called Constitutional sheriffs who believe they are above the law − to go after those on his target list.

"The individuals that I mention are the enemy of our constitutional order," Raiklin says. "We're coming for them, maximally."

Last week, Raiklin threatened a USA TODAY reporter who phoned and texted him for comment on this story.

"Please find on him. Maximum. Look...to family, friends, neighbors, and all associates to determine how and if I respond," Raiklin said on X to his 220,000 followers.

Threatening Fauci
In a June, Raiklin bragged of threatening Dr. Anthony Fauci, the former longtime head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, and a figure hated by anti-vaccine extremists, at a congressional hearing on the Covid pandemic response.

In a June 3 episode of his online "The Raiklin Report," Raiklin said he sat behind Fauci at the hearing to "whisper in Dr. Fauci's ear" about "the maximum consequences" the doctor should face for his role in fighting the pandemic.

"And fortunately for him, I was not close enough to him physically to conduct a Mike Tyson-style, Evander Holyfield physical movement," Raiklin added, referring to an infamous 1997 incident in which Tyson bit off part of Holyfield's ear during a championship boxing match.

Clapper, a prominent member of Raiklin's retribution list, knows Flynn well from their time in military and intelligence agencies but said he has no explanation for why he’s participating in such an effort.

"I'm not a psychologist. I just think that after he retired, he became an angry man,” Clapper said. “I can't account for what happened. But he's a different person than the one I knew."

'Somebody very special'
These days, Flynn and Raiklin often appear together at events showcasing Flynn's 2024 autobiographical documentary "Flynn," in which Raiklin plays a lead role. The film describes the "severe political persecution" Flynn says he faced while "exposing corruption as the National Security Advisor to President Trump."

After a meteoric rise through the Army, Flynn was fired as head of the Defense Intelligence Agency by then-President Barack Obama in 2014. He then was investigated by the FBI and Special Counsel Robert Mueller for raking in huge sums as a lobbyist, including for the Turkish government, until March 2017, a period in which he served on Trump's campaign and worked at the top of the Trump administration, Mueller and other prosecutors would later say.

After Trump's election in November 2016, Flynn − as a private citizen − conducted secret, back-channel discussions with Russia's ambassador to the U.S. In his final report, Mueller said those actions undermined Obama's foreign policy, including sanctions on Moscow for meddling in the 2016 election to help Trump defeat Hillary Clinton.

While Flynn was under criminal investigation by the FBI, Trump tapped him as White House national security advisor. Three weeks later, Flynn was forced to resign for lying to then-Vice President Mike Pence about his contacts with Russia's ambassador.

Trump told then-FBI Director James Comey to "let this go" in reference to the Flynn investigation, USA TODAY reported in 2017. Flynn ultimately pled guilty to lying to federal agents. "Arguably, you sold your country out," U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan told him.

Flynn later helped Trump try to overturn his 2020 election loss to President Joe Biden, the Congressional committee investigating the Capitol attack found − with help from Raiklin, who tweeted to urge people to bring "walkie talkies, medical bags" to the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

By then, Trump already had given Flynn a full pardon.

“We’re going to bring you back,” he told Flynn in May. “We’re proud of you, general. I knew it from day one − you’re really somebody very special.”

Dana Nessel, Michigan's attorney general, said she was concerned enough to track down a copy of Raiklin's enemies list and found the state's governor, Gretchen Whitmer − who was the target of a militia kidnapping plot in 2020 − and Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson among the targets.

"I was waiting for Donald Trump to disavow that list," Nessel said, "but he never did. Scary times."

Republicans have 1/2 million requests Dems have 340,000. 1 million are unaffiliated.

Also, this is crazy...

Ohio and Florida are probably no longer blue states.

They haven't been blue states for a while now. Neither is considered a swing state.

I saw a couple numbers from polling a couple days ago about 2024 that really stood out.

About 9% of people registered as republicans said they would not vote for trump. 3% of registered Dems would not vote for Harris.

Independents who were voting early broke about 65%+ for Dems to 30% Republicans with the other <5% going other

Elon Musk has regularly talked with Vladimir Putin — and faced 'implicit threats': report
Elon Musk (AFP)

Tech billionaire and vocal Trump supporter Elon Musk has talked regularly with Russian President Vladimir Putin for at least two years, according to a new report.

Several current and former officials for the U.S., Europe and Russia told The Wall Street Journal Musk has discussed personal topics, business and geopolitical issues, with Putin at one point asking Musk to avoid activating his Starlink satellites and providing internet service over Taiwan.

The report revealed that in 2022, the world's richest man was under public and private pressure from the Kremlin.

"In May 2022, Russia’s space chief said in a post on Telegram that Musk would 'answer like an adult' for supplying Starlink to Ukraine’s Azov battalion, which the Kremlin had singled out for the ultraright ideology espoused by some members," the Journal reported.

The article continued: "Later in 2022, Musk was having regular conversations with 'high-level Russians,' according to a person familiar with the interactions. At the time, there was pressure from the Kremlin on Musk’s businesses and 'implicit threats against him,' the person said."

That same year, Musk began pushing more Russian-aligned stances, including that SpaceX was losing money by funding terminals in Ukraine, as well as asking his followers on his app, X, to support peace plans that "mirrored some aspects of the Kremlin's offer to Ukraine," the Journal reported. Additionally, Musk has become more critical of American military aid to Ukraine.

The report comes after the Justice Department reportedly sent Musk a warning letter after he began a lottery for voters in swing states.

I mean - that's potentially good news for Harris and Dems or the never Trumpers.... But I will believe it when I see it. I am still in the belief it comes down to PA.

Polls I am looking at:

PA even.
NV even.
WI even.
MI Dem +1
NC Rep +1
GA Rep +2
AZ Rep +2

Everything else by much wider margins and hard to see a surprise.

Doesn't early voting usually have a blue cast to it in the swing states?
