I love how MAGA talking heads are out in force saying they knew all of it was true all along. Project 2025, the insurrection, the election wasn’t stolen, and many of the other bad and corrupt things that MAGAs useful idiots helped him hide. I don't think Trump has Russia's interests as more important than US interests. Trump, like all politicians, serve themselves and there's really no good scenario where Russia being more important to him works.
When he came into the presidency in 2016, I actually was looking forward to his stronger personality standing against Putin’s. I didn’t vote for Trump then, but that was one thing I was hopeful of.
But that never happened.
He went off on world leaders all over the place, blasting Europe and NATO, calling KJU “Rocket Man” denoting the “Kung Flu” and “China Virus,” taking Iran to task, and so on.
Never with Putin.
When he publicly sided with Putin over the NSA, that was my real “Oh shhhhhhh!!!” moment. The rhetoric that has come out from him, his family, his Congressional lackeys (Vance, Gaetz, MTG, etc) and his media lackeys (Carlson) since the invasion has also left me speechless.
Sean Hannity even tried to throw him the biggest softball I’ve ever seen on condemning Putin’s invasion in Ukraine but he still didn’t hit it off the tee.
At the very least it’s concerningly bizarre.

trump likes his ego stroked. Putin knows that. trump likes strong men dictator types. He did take a hard line with Kim for a while. Then there was "the love letter". Currently Kim has deployed 10k troops to the war front in Ukraine and not a word from trump.
Putin is already back to stroking trump's ego because he knows just how well that works.
