He has said that he will use the American military on U.S. soil to round up immigrants. He has used his rhetoric to create the environment where his supporters actually believe that liberals and anyone who speaks out against trump is "the enemy of the people". He has undermined the media including the major news networks to the point that his followers also believe they are somehow the enemy of the people. He is currently installing extremist loyalists who have little to know experience at positions to every major job in our government. Those are not jokes. And one writer claiming those things are jokes does not make that any different.
Actually much of that article shows similarities between the two. And like the article states, people didn't take Hitler seriously either. Until they no longer had a choice.

You've compared Trump to Hitler. Hitler was a Nazi. I have compared his speeches, quotes and tactics to Hitler. You pointed out that Hitler isn't the only one that this applied to and I agreed. Name a despot, any despot and the same could be said. Or did you forget about that? You're trying too hard.

So.... I went and googled "how trump mirrors Hitler" looking for something in depth that may more eloquently analyze the similarities or differences... With details and examples. I hit gold. From a reliable source for me... Left leaning but factually accurate when providing analysis, pretty good and differentiating between opinion and news. The Guardian. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/article/2024/jun/03/donald-trump-hitler-similaritiesNo Trump isn't like Hitler other than their the way in which they might be considered political artists. I hope everyone takes 5 minutes to read the article. I think it's 100% spot on and well structured. It doesn't make any incredulous claims.it examines and dives into what makes Trump popular. I'm on phone but will try to cut n paste a paragraph. i appreciate your posting this, and your honesty in regards to its bias. The political artist is an interesting angle, but I think the scope could broaden significantly and encompass many politicians from around the world. Their goal is to get elected, there's only so many ways to do that, and overwhelmingly it seems that "there's a problem I can solve, the other guys won't" is how people get elected, and how they stay elected. The presentation of the idea may vary, but it is a well worn tactic. The issue with Trump is "like Hitler" is the hyperbole that inevitably results is he is now a Nazi and a fascist. People want to tie him to the atrocities Hitler and his ilk perpetrated as a way of demonizing him. What the Nazis did should not be used lightly. Beyond the 6 million Jews there were many other people exterminated. The reich enabled the iron tyranny of bureaucrats as well, it was not all perpetrated by Hitler but the power to oppress people emanated from him and was broadcast though a network of subordinates that were the real engine of the Reich. There are very few humans in history that were as evil, or more evil than Hitler, though at some point the differences in them are meaningless.

You are correct there are many more politicians that operate in something of a similar vein - populist, lacking in policy, normally charismatic, and finding a target to point the finger at for all the countries issues, try to get their supporters to mistrust the media no matter how valid the "news". Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage are two I am familiar with in the UK. There are others globally. I think the extreme way in which Trump has done it - which to my mind mirrors the extreme way that Hitler was able to do it (and get away with it).... and there's this also from the article that is (seems to me at least) to juxta position with Trump:
“Hitler goes from 2.6% of the vote in 1928, meaning more than 97% of the electorate don’t want him, to the Nazi party becoming the biggest party in 1932. Then these conservative politicians say, OK, we’ve got this political nincompoop here but he’s a populist and he’s popular, the people like him. If we try and make this guy vice-chancellor then he can do our bidding.
“Hitler says no, I’m not going to be vice-chancellor, I want to be chancellor, so eventually they give in but they still think that he is going to do what they want and push through their policies. One of these conservative politicians memorably said, ‘We’ve hired him.’ Hitler manipulated them and he becomes chancellor and from there on in it all goes disastrously wrong with German society.”
I think where things get very muddy ... and I will set aside the people who I think have been brainwashed by the MSM to simply say "Trump is Hitler" ... is where you have the actual people and groups who identify as 'Nazis' - or white extremists who do without a shadow of a doubt support Trump. That doesn't make Trump one of them no matter how much some might want to make it so ... but it's hard to deny that Trump panders to them, sends them coded messages and actively works to secure their support. On the one hand you can say - win at any cost. On the other hand you can question the ethics of that strategy and you can question what political decisions then get made to maintain and keep that support. JMO.

I have clearly distinguished the difference between what Hitler eventually became and how he started out. The things he was saying in the beginning and how he used the same rhetoric as trump to divide the people is one in the same. Yet in the real world, it's obvious that the Nazi groups in our country have gotten his message as well.

The Dems simply forgot rule #1. There are no good Hit^@# analogies. To make the claim is silly, and the comparison rabbit hole is flawed logic at best in the soundbite media world.

Yes, the quotes never happened and the exact same rhetoric means nothing. It's all simply a mirage for some.

Now where have I heard that sort of rhetoric? Can I place it.... hmmm.. Did Biden say that? Harris? Pelosi? Fill in the blank name with a D behind it? Here comes the hand waving an how that's different than your assertion... Go on, show me your hypocrisy in full bloom.

Here comes the place where you show me where they said anything like "the enemy within" over and over and over again on the campaign trail drilling that message into the minds of their voters.
The only thing I remember them saying was that "trump is a threat to democracy". Where did they call millions upon millions of voters their enemy? Where did they call millions of immigrants "vermin"? When did they say if needed they might "use the military to round up those enemies of the people"?
Your hyperbole to try and make two different things sound the same is hysterical. But when that's all you have left.......

Thankfully there was only one. That's a giant sized pile of BS... Go get an English version of Mein Kampf... Read it, then go out and read Trumps speeches. Then while your at it, read Project 2025. You are in for a Shock.. Then when your done with that, go read the number of times Trump is quoted saying he doesn't have anything to do with Project 2025. Then look at the guys that helped write it being proposed to be in his Cabinet. You can sit there until the cows come home saying he's not Hitler, but you are just fooling yourself. Those that are supporting him are no better than Hitlers generals who at a later date wanted to kill him...

This is what he said..... "Let's be clear about what's at stake in 2020 ... Donald Trump and his MAGA Republican determined to destroy American democracy."
Nowhere did he say anything about using the military to "round them up". Nowhere did he call them the enemy. You keep trying to compare something that isn't even close to what trump said and ignore the fact that trump used so much more than this one thing. You ignore he kept pounding these things into his supporters heads throughout his entire campaign. I'm not sure if you're just being a troll or are convinced you are actually making a point here.

A neo-Nazi turf war may have just flared in Columbus, Ohio. Jewish, Black and elected leaders won’t stand for it Elected officials, Jewish advocacy groups and civil rights leaders are vowing to “push back” against the message of a White nationalist group that staged a march last week near downtown Columbus, Ohio, calling the demonstration an act of hate unwelcome in their community – and across the United States. Hate Club, a newly formed White supremacist organization tracked by the Anti-Defamation League, may have been engaging in a turf war when about a dozen members paraded Saturday through the Short North neighborhood wearing all black with red face masks, an executive of the anti-hate group told CNN. Some marchers carried black flags emblazoned with red swastikas, a notorious symbol of hate, antisemitism and White supremacy tracing to the murderous legacy of Germany’s Nazi Party and the Holocaust. At least one marcher yelled, “n***er,” again and again, according to a video of the march given to CNN affiliate WBNS that’s garnered online attention far beyond Ohio’s capital. The neo-Nazis deployed pepper spray, Columbus police said, citing video evidence and adding, “To date, probable cause has not been established to make any arrests.” Several concerned residents called police to report the demonstration, and anyone is invited to share videos or photos of it with investigators, police said. The daytime march – past a clothing boutique, a salon and a cookie bakery – erupted as events organized or attended by White supremacists in the United States hit a new high in 2023, the Anti-Defamation League reported. Public gatherings of White nationalists or people with Nazi flags have unfolded in recent years in Nashville, New Hampshire, Boston, Virginia, Michigan and Washington, DC. Hate Club was created just last month, the Anti-Defamation League Center on Extremism’s vice president, Oren Segal, told CNN. The Columbus march was Hate Club’s first official event and appears to have been part of a turf war with the White nationalist supremacist Blood Tribe, Segal said. “Typically, the ultimate goal of groups like ‘Hate Club’ is to turn America into a white ethnostate where white men are in power,” Segal told CNN via email “They consider themselves as both the last remaining bulwark against enemies of the white race and the only path to a white ethnostate.” “Blood Tribe views itself as the main white supremacist group in Ohio, so … (the) ‘Hate Club’ march appears to have been an intentional effort to antagonize them,” he said. “When white supremacists start competing for turf or visibility, the losers are the communities that are impacted.” And while the US Constitution “protects First Amendment activity, no matter how hateful,” Columbus Police Chief Elaine R. Bryant acknowledged Monday in a statement, “no one in our community should experience intimidation or harassment. We will continue to strive to make Columbus a city where all residents feel welcome and safe.” Some Columbus community leaders marched Sunday in unity against the prior day’s neo-Nazi demonstration. “I was outraged, and I felt disrespected,” the Rev. Derrick Holmes, senior pastor at Union Grove Baptist Church, told CNN affiliate WSYX of the White nationalist event. “I really want a counterweight to what happened yesterday and really of just the mind that hate doesn’t get to have the last word, that injustice doesn’t get the last word, that bigotry doesn’t get to have the last word.” Columbus City Council President Shannon Hardin laid blame for the White nationalist activity, at least in part, on President-elect Donald Trump, who has been reluctant to condemn White supremacists in the past and notably said “both sides” were to blame for racial violence in 2017 in Charlottesville, Virginia. Trump was re-elected the week before the Ohio march. “I’m sorry the President-elect has emboldened these creeps,” Hardin said on X. “This community rejects their pathetic efforts to promote fear and hate. Columbus will always stand with those they seek to intimidate.” The presence of White supremacist groups in Ohio is not new. In the early 20th century, the Ku Klux Klan bombed the University of Dayton, held rallies in the state and assembled in towns such as Westerville, where the group established a stronghold. The Trump-Vance transition team did not immediately respond to CNN’s request for comment about Hardin’s remarks. The outgoing administration said of Saturday’s march in Columbus: “President (Joe) Biden abhors the hateful poison of Nazism, Antisemitism, and racism – which are hostile to everything the United States stands for, including protecting the dignity of all our citizens and the freedom to worship,” White House spokesperson Andrew Bates said in a statement. “Hate directed against any of us is a threat to every single one of us.” Events like Saturday’s march in Ohio “are designed to create fear and anxiety in communities,” Segal told CNN’s Jim Acosta this week, “but also to act as almost like a photo opportunity … to signal back to their online community to try to get people to embrace their hatred and potentially to act on it.” Segal expects White nationalist groups will continue to surface, he said, adding elected officials should immediately reject their actions. “This White supremacist activity never went away,” he said. “The reality is the book on White supremacy, antisemitism and hatred is not closed. In fact, there are more chapters being written every single day.” Indeed, amid the year’s “incredible surge of antisemitism, we cannot allow ourselves nor society to normalize these behaviors,” said Justin Kirschner, Cincinnati regional director for the American Jewish Committee. Overall threats to Jews in the United States tripled in the year after the deadly October 7 terrorist attack on Israel by Hamas, preliminary data from the Anti-Defamation League shows, while the Council on American-Islamic Relations got 8,061 reports of anti-Muslim bias incidents in 2023, the highest number in the 28 years the group has tracked hate, it said in April. Following the neo-Nazi march in Columbus, Kirschner said, political leaders must continue condemning the acts of White nationalist groups that are “not in line with the values of our communities.” “We, as a society, must push back against this,” he said. “Our response to their hate and the rise of antisemitism is to strengthen our resolve, deepen our community bonds, and continue our education and advocacy work,” said the advocacy and charity group JewishColumbus, calling the marchers “cowards … scared to show their faces” and their demonstration “an assault on the values that define our diverse and inclusive community.” And the NAACP Columbus called Saturday’s neo-Nazi march “a stark reminder that White supremacy remains a serious threat in our society.” “This hatred is not just an attack on Black people – it is an assault on the very principles of democracy and equality,” NAACP Columbus Branch President Nana Watson said in a statement. “We cannot allow these forces of division and bigotry to gain ground. It is our duty to confront this hatred head-on, to organize, to legislate, and to educate until such ideologies are left powerless and irrelevant in our society.” Columbus City Attorney Zach Klein was “disgusted” and “angry” when he heard about the march, he told CNN’s Brianna Keilar on Monday, noting Columbus is a community that celebrates culture and diversity. “When you have these outside groups come in masked and parade up and down one of our most celebrated touristy areas of town carrying Nazi flags, it’s disgusting,” Klein said. “It’s vile and they need to go back to where they came from and not come back to the city of Columbus because they’re not welcome here.” https://www.cnn.com/2024/11/21/us/columbus-ohio-neo-nazi-march/index.htmlI'm certainly glad that the Civil War fixed everything.

Stating trump's entire playbook isn't moving the goal posts. Taking a single comment by Biden and trying to compare that to trump's entire playbook is moving the goal posts.

Stating trump's entire playbook isn't moving the goal posts. Taking a single comment by Biden and trying to compare that to trump's entire playbook is moving the goal posts. Claiming I said things I didn't to avoid having to face what I said is moving the goalposts and no amount of lying in yor part changes that.

I've pointed out a pattern with trump. Undermining the free press. To the point of saying some shows should be taken off the air. Stating some major networks should not even have their FCC licenses renewed to force them off the air. How he has undermined even our legal institutions. From the FBI to the DOJ to judges and prosecutors. How not just one, but many of the things he has said mirror that of despots from the past.
In return you have come back with, 'Yeah, but the democrats were saying this one thing...."
I can certainly understand why you would wish to skirt around all of those things and try to hone in on one lone example in trying to make a comparison. False equivalency. Now continue with your escape plan.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Now continue with your escape plan. No you said Trump used "enemy of the state" so he is Hitler. When someone else uses a phrase Hitler favored you pivot and deflect. This is not a surprise.

It's "one of the things" he says that mirrors Hitler's message. Please try and quote where I said what you claim or please stop repeating that lie.

Now you're just acting like I based what I said on one thing. It's a total pattern. Who are you trying to convince? People can read.

And yet you have consistently repeated the same thing over and over. I know people can read, though it appears you can't read what you've read. Blaming someone else for your failures is a pattern.
