President Joe Biden has pardoned his son Hunter Biden nearly seven weeks before President Biden leaves the White House. The pardon comes months after Hunter Biden pleaded guilty to federal tax charges on the same day jury selection in his trial was scheduled to begin.

"Today, I signed a pardon for my son Hunter," President Biden said. "From the day I took office, I said I would not interfere with the Justice Department’s decision-making, and I kept my word even as I have watched my son being selectively, and unfairly, prosecuted. Without aggravating factors like use in a crime, multiple purchases, or buying a weapon as a straw purchaser, people are almost never brought to trial on felony charges solely for how they filled out a gun form. Those who were late paying their taxes because of serious addictions, but paid them back subsequently with interest and penalties, are typically given non-criminal resolutions. It is clear that Hunter was treated differently."

The charges against Biden carry a maximum penalty of up to 17 years in prison. However, the Justice Department has noted that sentences issued for federal crimes are typically less than the maximum penalties.

Biden was scheduled to be sentenced in December.

The president's son was accused of engaging in a four-year scheme to evade paying taxes totaling at least $1.4 million and falsifying some of his tax returns by claiming personal spending as business expenses.

By pardoning his son, Joe Biden has reneged on a public promise that he made repeatedly before and after dropping out of the 2024 presidential race. The president and his top White House spokesperson said unequivocally, including after Trump won the 2024 election, that he would not pardon Hunter Biden or commute his sentence.


The broadly crafted pardon explicitly grants clemency for the tax and gun offenses from his existing cases, plus any potential federal crimes that Hunter Biden may have committed “from January 1, 2014 through December 1, 2024.” This time frame, importantly, covers his entire tenure on the board of Ukrainian gas company Burisma and much of his other overseas work, including in China. He had faced scrutiny for his controversial foreign business dealings, and Trump has repeatedly said he should be prosecuted for his activities in Ukraine and elsewhere.

In new court filings, Hunter Biden’s lawyers told the judges in both of his cases that the pardon “requires dismissal of the Indictment against him with prejudice and adjournment of all future proceedings in this matter.”

There's nothing surprising about this -- everyone knew, all 43 times, Joe was lying through his teeth. It's crazy that an entire 10 year period is being wiped out, the entire 'beef' of the Biden family crime syndicate. It's also one of the most absurd statements I've ever read by a president. Hunter was a victim, it was all political, Hunter didn't do anything wrong. Boo hoo, poor Hunter.

And yes, Joe, Hunter was treated differently... your DOJ let the statute of limitations run out on his most profitable years of selling your name... and steal from America's taxpayers.

Donald Trump was about as vulnerable a candidate that we have seen in decades, and Joe Biden singlehandedly Gave him the 2024 win.
As a result, Dems have a long, deep hole from which to extricate themselves.

Step One: put down the shovel. Your hole is already deeper than you are tall.
Step Two: re-connect with the people whom you used to represent.
Step Three: actually represent those people through policy and law.


Those steps are gonna be hard to take, but they are necessary, if Dems want to still be relevant, going forward.

Hunter was convicted for: Lying on a federal screening form about his drug use - Lying to a gun dealer - Possessing a gun despite restrictions for people addicted to drugs. That's the bottom line. That's what he was convicted of and is being pardoned for. Agree or disagree - but stick to those facts.

All that to show what exactly? Hunter is not a politician. There is no connection to any of that money being used to gain influence or political favors from The White House what so ever. So what we do know is foreign governments received no favors. Joe Biden didn't get any payments directly or indirectly. Hunter used the fact that he was the president's son to gain undo monetary gain. So what exactly is the crime here again?
