Biden was not fit to run a second term. You can debate at what point it all truly fell off a cliff - but anyone with an ounce of neutrality could see a 2nd term was beyond him. And as it turns out a second campaign was wayyyy beyond him. He and his croonies should look in the mirror and feel deep shame as far as I am concerned.

My question to this is: Was Biden being selfish or did he just not know?

When my dad was alive he develooped dementia but still insisted he could drive. I let him me for a drive around the neighborhood. He was so proud of how he did. Then I had to explain to him that he got lost 3 time in the neighborhood.

As for his staff?
Those are tough conversations to have
Additionally they risk getting fired.

His wife, other high ups in the democratic party... well no excuses for them

I think Biden was getting good grades from the party on his moves. He felt he could do more AND he felt he could keep Trump from getting back into power. Hell, if Trump hadn’t almost destroyed the economy and been such a divisive force, I’m not sure he would have ran in 2020. I think he was done after 16 in his mind.

I also think he might have beat Trump in 16 if they had ran him instead of Hillary. And he would have had a better shot at two terms. But just losing his son was probably too much to want to deal with all the BS. Can’t say I fault him for that. So, it just played out like it played out. I will always think he was a good if not great POTUS for what he DID accomplish. Neither side gets much done when weapons of mass partisanship destroy any good before it get’s a heartbeat.

It’s all manipulated by elites. From media to capital hill, corporations and plutocrats OWN our political system. There is so much dark money in our politics after citizens united, that even the best investigative reporting would struggle to trace. We as common people have NO CLUE who is pressuring or influencing these politi-twits we send to Capitol Hill every election. This is how we really got here.

And there is BLAME a plenty on both sides of the aisle.

And yet people carry water for the politicians and fight each other rather than turn their ire to the ones that really deserve it.

I’m pretty much there after this Elon crap.

EDIT: The fruitless arguing with MAGA is useless. They don’t hate democracy, they hate their lives. And dammit, I get that. I hate who they choose to champion them because he’s a robber baron on steroids, he shows all kinds of fascist signs, loves him some dictators, and couldn’t care less about people. And I don’t want arguments on any of that because it’s so damn obvious. Flipped on the issues most important to MAGA (Groceries, Housing costs, and making the economy better) as soon as he was declared winner. And yet… They won’t realize what hit them once Project 2025 starts getting implemented.

I was so mad about the cutting VET and SS benefits that I barely noticed his flip myself.

People need a leader to just bring them together, set them down, tell em to hug it out and get together in the trenches to form a political movement of 99% people to make the plutocratic corpocracy (the elite class) step back and sit down. Else they and their children, grandchildren will just live like surfs. It’ll be us living in hooverville shacks, picking vegetables we can’t afford ourselves…

People need to understand that money is not power. It is a concept developed by man, and it’s only power over us, is what WE LET OUR GOVERNMENT HAVE. And if that government does not work for us, then it’s time to take that power back. Neither political party will do that. We foot all the bills, while the elite run around like irresponsible teenagers trading on our future. What the actual ****?

How many billionaire kids died in our wars? How many elites lose their fortunes since bailouts became a thing? Why is it we must bootstrap over 40+ years of the wealthy benefitting at the expense of the common man? Their fortunes have exploded, because they took our wealth in a ‘rigged’ system. Now, they’ve createwd a frankenstein and are doubling down to take the rest. I will never understand greed on that level. Heartless, soulless, greed… pure and simple.

And since Citizens United, our economy has fleeced repeatedly. Every bump or bruise in the elite ecosystem causes a loss to the working man. You can’t compete or innovate in that atmosphere. You can only try to survive. It’s how democracies end. We need to go back to limiting wild wealth. Elon is proving that daily.

You make assumptions about people.
No one was ever happy about billionaire meddling

The difference is that previously, billionaire meddling was limited to donating mony to get the politician you want elected based on the politicians line of thought. Now the billionaires are buying the right to tell the politicians what to think

I asked a question. Suddenly now that Musk is meddling he is ready to get his ire up, which kind of indicates previous meddling is ok. The difference was that the billionaires dumped millions in through dark PACs so it was hidden and difficult to trace. Yes, let's do it that way, so we can go back to blarghing about "the other side".

I've said for years that PAC's and super PAC's should not be allowed.
They are nothing but a way to skirt the contribution laws

A reason musk bring this to a head is that he throws in in our faces.
There is no way to not see it, so it has become a hot topic

Nope. I never bought into the soros money crap. I wanted a progressive like Bernie to end all the wealth inequality. Sorry I was pontificating in an edit to that post when you replied.

They are the tools that took from us, and could be the tools that we use to take it back IMO. You get enough people pouring small dollars into a PAC, they explode, we’ve seen it. You do that in a pac uniting people against the plutocratic corpocracy, and suddenly their vast wealth does less to embolden them. We all saw the reaction to the UHC CEO assassination. They kn ow people are sick of their effing around. You untie those people as an economic force, you could shut it all down on a whim. Remember big business freaking out over the lack of employees during covid? People staying home? People not giving the their dollars (Except Bezos)? I think that’s why the billionaires came together to back Trump after initially refusing him. He’s one of them. He’ll continue to look out for them first. And they can do whatever they want.

It doesn't look like they're shifting course either. I say this metaphorically and in specifically in terms of her career in politics: Pelosi's influence needs to be shoved aside and put out to pasture.

Until a billionaire bought his way into the government, given power in the government straight from the president elect. And it was done in a way he was appointed without needing confirmation.

Trump who claims he wants smaller government created an entire new department of government to put him in charge of. The Department of Government Efficiency. Every other government department head requires confirmation but this one.

Even you know the difference and what's happening here that make it so different no matter if you refuse to admit it.

It appears you didn't care until someone else brought it up. Up until that point you tried to make comparisons that weren't comparable at all.

So you fabricated reality until someone else came along and pointed out the truth? You posted in two separate threads trying to compare Musk to Soros when you knew all along the situations were totally different. But you do you.

Just watched the cvertification of the election, with Kamala Harris presiding, and I have to say that I felt kinda bad for her, because it had to be incredibly difficult to stand there and verify that your opponent won and you didn't.

I have to give her credit.

AI can't find access to the actual poll.

I don't see how only 1 in 20 would say that. AI told me one in 25 said "covid". but can't tell me if the poll was multiple choice.

I will say this, as it's become a fascination of mine during the last two election cycles: to me, polls have become (or are trying desperately to become) the tail that wags the dog. Not just the way the questions are worded, not just the multiple choices given, but the actual flow of the polls themselves. I find myself screaming "you're leading the witness!".

Anymore it seems to be a rather thought provoking look under the hood of belief-structure influencing.

Why not?

Is it actually gay? Here’s the true meaning of the song “YMCA”

The band's frontman claimed the hit dance song isn't gay, but his gay bandmates remember things differently.

The gay community also quickly adopted it as an anthem, especially since the song proclaims that a “young man” can find “everything for you men to enjoy” and “many ways to have a good time” as they “hang out with all the boys.” Some gay men interpreted the lyrics as an allusion to cruising for sex at the YMCA's ...
